Abstract

Abstrak Pandemi Covid -19 membawa berbagai dampak pada segala sektor. Salah satu diantaranya adalah dunia pendidikan. Semua terjadi begitu cepat sehingga diperlukan adanya penyesuaian berkelanjutan. Diantaranya adalah bagaimana mempertahankan motivasi peserta didik dalam pembelajaran online. Tidak dapat dipungkiri pembelajarn online jelas memiliki perbedaan dengan pembelajaran tatap muka yang mengedepankan interaksi langsung antara guru dengan peserta didik, maupun antara peserta didik satu dengan lainnya. Disanalah kadang timbul kejenuhan yang dialami oleh peserta didik dalam pembelajaran online. Tim Pengabdian masyarakat yang kami bentuk bertujuan untuk mengadakan pelatihan menulis cerpen berbahasa Inggris secara online yang diharapkan dapat menimbulkan motivasi belajar peserta didik dan meminimalisir kejenuhan karena mengajak peserta didik mengembangkan kreativitasnya melalui tulisan dengan prosedur yang menarik. One of them is the world of education. Everything happened so fast that continuous adjustments were needed. Among them is how to maintain student motivation in online learning. It is undeniable that online learning clearly has differences with face-to-face learning that emphasizes direct interaction between teachers and students, as well as between students with one another. It is there that sometimes the saturation experienced by students in online learning occurs. The community service team that we formed aims to hold training in writing English short stories online which is expected to generate motivation for students to learn and minimize boredom because it invites students to develop their creativity through writing with interesting procedures. Abstract

Language teachers have many ways to make the teaching and learning process become more interesting, especially in teaching the students with the special need. One of this types known as ADHD (Attention Deficits Hyperactive Disorder) will be discussed in this paper. The student with this type of special need has a special ways too in their teaching and learning process. In this case, reading comprehension. Reading is well known as one of the literacy activities. Make thestudents literate is very important no matter who the student is. Thus the special need student also has a right to be literate too through the literacy activities. This paper focuses on describing the teaching and learning process of reading using comic strip. The discussion is about the way itconducts in a class, the steps and also the materials used. The data were collected by documentation, observation, and interview; and, analyzed using qualitative description. The results show that comic strip is able to build an enthusiasm of the student. It is because comic strip is interesting for him. It automatically helps him to predict the content of the text given. Thus, through the use of comic strip, the problems related to the reading comprehension of special need students are solved gradually

Abstract

Dialogue is well known as a way tointroduce an example of how to express something to the students. Dialogues are primarily used to provide speaking practice but can also develop listening. The teacher can use dialogues to introduce and practice a function, structure, or vocabulary, and to illustrate degrees of politeness, levels of formality, and attitudes of the target culture. Moreover, students can be more activebecause of it. The writer assumes that though the students with less vocabulary still can speak and feel well in front of their other classmates because standard dialogue provide many vocabularies and expressions to be used. There are many types of dialogue; most of them are interesting to be used in an English class. In this paper, the writer tries to present an idea that dialogue in some types are not only good and effective to be used, but also able to activate the students, especially in a speaking class.

Abstract

Kebutuhan media dalam suatu pembelajaran seakan tidak dapat dipisahkan lagi. Begitu pentingnya media sehingga peranan media dalam pembelajaran sangat dibutuhkan. Utamanya dalam mempelajari bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing. Kemasan pembelajaran yang efektif dan menyenangkan, menjanjikan tercapainya target pembelajaran yaitu keberhasilan siswa. Dalam program pengabdian masyarakat di Pondok Pesantren Qomaruddin Bungah Gresik ini, tim pengabdian masyarakat yang terdiri dari dosen dan mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya memperkenalkan penggunaan Dart Board sebagai media belajar kosakata bahasa Inggris yang mudah dan menyenangkan.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang melatarbelakangi artikelini adalah seringnya peneliti menemukan tulisan-tulisan siswa SMK dalam bentuk narasi pada khususnya, yang tidakmemiliki kepaduan dan kesatuan gagasan atau kohesi dan koherensi .Siswa SMK diharapkan telah memilik iperbendaharaan kosakata yang memadai sehingga dapat mengasosiasikan ide mereka dalam bentuk tulisan dengan baik. Begitu juga dengan usia mereka yang terbilang matang, hendaknya mereka juga memiliki banyak pengalaman serta pemikiran-pemikiran yang dapat dituangkan dalam bentuk tulisan narasi. Kata Kunci: Kohesi, Koherensi, Narasi.

Abstract

In the effort of creating a joyful literary teaching, avoiding the boredom of both teachers and students, thus it needs the selection of a proper technique followed by the selection of a proper source too. Based on that statement, this article aimed to share the design of a proper technique and source which can be used in creating a joyful literary teaching. Hopefully it can stimulate the students creativity. In the beginning, this article serves the types of technique in literary teaching, especially for poetry. Then, this article also focused on the technique of poetry teaching which can be used as an effort to increase the students creativity, that is narrating a poetry. The technique of narrating a poetry will be served by the supporting source.

Abstract

The management of orphanages can be implemented in the form of social services, education, and health. One form of implementation of education conducted in the orphanage Al-Jihad Surabaya in the form of learning assistance for the students. The reason why is mostly students in this orphanage are school-age children. The implementation of this community aims to equip the students with English vocabulary skills. They are guided through learning mentoring activities. This activity was carried out as an effort to motivate students to learn English vocabulary which is one of the key elements of learning foreign language. The method used is to implement learning assistance using flash card media. To know the initial ability of students, they were given pretests in the form of instruction to do some exercises. While, to identify the students’ vocabulary improvement, they were given posttest. Results indicated students’ motivation in learning and vocabulary were improved.
