Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of social change and the factors that influence the modernization of lowland rice cultivation in Secanggang District, Langkat Regency. The data collection method used is the method of observation, interviews, documentation and questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability. Furthermore, 69 samples were tested using a Likert scale with multiple linear regression methods using SPSS version 20.00. The results showed that the level of social change was 89.69% with a very high category. There is a significant influence between cultural values, community behavior patterns, community institutions, and socio-economic relations in Telaga Jerni Village, Secanggang Village and Tanjung Ibus Village (F> 0.05 = 10,759).

Abstract

This study aims to (1) analyze the level of adoption of farmers in the use of two-wheeled tractors in lowland rice cultivation in Gomo sub-district, South Nias district (2) to analyze what factors influence the level of farmer adoption in the use of two-wheeled tractors in Gomo sub-district. South Nias Regency in March to May 2021. This assessment method uses a quantitative approach to determine the level of farmer adoption in the use of two-wheel tractors in the cultivation of lowland rice using the Liker model scoring technique, and to analyze what factors influence the level of adoption of farmers in the use of two-wheeled tractors in the cultivation of rice fields using multiple linear analysis models. The results of this study are the adoption of farmers in the use of two-wheel tractors in the cultivation of lowland rice fields is classified as very high (82.94%). The factors that significantly influence the adoption of farmers in the use of two-wheeled tractors in rice field cultivation in Gomo District, South Nias Regency are income, nature of innovation, role of group leader, role of extension workers, and factors that have no effect, age, cosmopolitan , and land area.

Abstract

Arabica coffee is a strategic commodity in Indonesia, especially in the South Tapanuli Regency, where the population of Arabica coffee farmers is concentrated in this area; their coffee product is known for its unique tastes. This opportunity improves agricultural jobs for young millennials interested in coffee. This research aimed to determine the role of farmers’ institutional social capital in supporting Arabica coffee agribusiness and define the strategy used to strengthen social capital in the community to protect the geographical indications protection community (GIPC) of Arabica coffee in South Tapanuli Regency. The methodologies for this research were both descriptive and qualitative approaches. The research used 15 informants from GIPC. The data analysis techniques included data reduction, presentation, conclusion, and verification. Three components were found after analyzing the social capital of GIPC Arabica coffee Sipirok’s institution in supporting the growth of Arabica coffee agribusiness in South Tapanuli Regency; they were norms, trust, and social networking. Therefore, the coffee agribusiness development strategy in South Tapanuli Regency was to strengthen internal GIPC and increase administrators' and members' capacity to consensus or mutual agreement related to GIPC institutional governance.

Abstract

The low number of youth of farmers in the agricultural sector is one of the main problems in agriculture. The image of the agricultural sector that is less prestigious and less able to provide adequate compensation is the cause of the decline in the interest of young workers in the agricultural sector. Farmer regeneration can be implemented through the interest of youth in groups of farmers. which to develop creativity, productivity, innovation, empowerment, awareness, and independence. This study aims to determine the level of interest and factors that influence the interest of rural youth in groups in the Bahorok District, Langkat Regency, North of Sumatra Province. This study uses the method of explanatory saturation of samples with a quantitative approach, where as many as 37 of respondents (rural youth farmers). Data collection methods using observations, questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis uses a Likert scale and data processing uses multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the study concluded that the interpretation of the level of interest of rural youth in groups of 77.65% with a high category. Simultaneously farm income, family environment, community environment, social status and the role of extension workers simultaneously influence the interest of rural youth in farmer groups. Partially, farm income and family environment significantly influence the interests of youth while the family environment, social status and the role of extension workers do not affect the interests of rural youth in groups of farmers.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Agricultural Extension Workers (PPL) in supporting the adoption of good agricultural practices by farmers in South Tapanuli Regency. The basic objective in this study was determine the level of the role of PPL in supporting the adoption of good agricultural practices by farmers in South Tapanuli Regency. The basic for selecting the location of the study was purposive method. This type of research is quantitative with analytical descriptive method. The sample was determined by purposive method in accordance with the criteria in this study as many as 40 people. Data collection techniques carried out by in-depth interview and filling out the questionnaire. Data analysis was performed by tabulating quantitative data from the assessment result with a Likert scale. The results showed that PPL’s role in supporting the adoption of good agricultural practices for Arabic coffee by farmers in South Tapanuli Regency was in the moderate category at 66.24 percent. The level of PPL role as facilitator gets the highest percentage of 70.00 percent compared to the level of other roles. Meanwhile, PPL’s role as monitoring and evaluation obtained the lowest percentage of 57.96 percent.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang tingkat adopsi budidaya yang baik (Good Agricultural Practices) tanaman kopi arabika oleh petani di Kabupaten Tapanuli Selatan. Tujuan dasar dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat adopsi budidaya yang baik (Good Agriculture Practice) tanaman kopi arabika oleh petani di Kabupaten Tapanuli Selatan. Dasar pemilihan lokasi penelitian ditentukan secara sengaja (purposive methode). Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif analitis. Sampel ditentukan dengan metode purposive sampling yang sesuai dengan kriteria dalam penelitian ini yakni sebanyak 60 orang petani kopi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara pengisian kuisioner dan wawancara mendalam (indepth interview). Analisa data dilakukan dengan tabulasi data kuantitatif hasil penilaian dengan skoring. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat adopsi budidaya tanaman kopi arabika yang baik (Good Agriculture Practice) oleh petani di Kabupaten Tapanuli Selatan termasuk kategori rendah yakni sebesar 32,40 persen.Kata kunci: Adopsi, Budidaya yang baik, Kopi Arabika
