Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the potential occurrence of stunting for residents who live on the river side, especially residents who live and inhabit the Kahayan River. And the subject is women who are pregnant, have a toddler. The study was conducted with a qualitative method, a descriptive approach used to explain stunting potential for people who live on riverside. This study uses purposive sampling, data collection techniques used: interviews, observation and documentation. The findings of this study are the environmental health conditions of people who live on riverside are very bad, if it refers to WHO standards, because there are no adequate sanitation facilities related to water management and disposal of solid and liquid waste, plus the habits of people who still throw garbage directly into the river. Environmental health in the community should be improved through collaboration of various institutions, in process to change the behavior patterns of disposing of garbage in the river.  Second Findings the potential for stunting in the riverside communities is quite large, because the majority of peoples doesn’t count nutritional content in food, so awareness and empowerment should be done. So that in the future there will be an increase in the quality of health of children, mothers and adolescents.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases with characteristics of hyperglycemia. International Diabetes Federation estimates that 9.3% of the total population in the world and 10.7 million people in Indonesia suffered from diabetes mellitus in 2019. The incidence of diabetes mellitus in Central Kalimantan is still quite high, where the city of Palangka Raya with the most cases of diabetes mellitus occurred at the Bukit Hindu Health Center. The aim is to determine the relationship of obesity and physical activity with the incidence of diabetes mellitus type II at the age of > 40 years in the Working Area of Bukit Hindu Health Center. Using observational analytic method with cross sectional approach. Sampling using purposive sampling technique, with the number of respondents aged > 40 years as many as 40 respondents. Data collection using primary data through interviews using questionnaires and measurements of weight and height. Statistical test using chi square test (α < 0,05). Result data analysis with univariate and bivariate analysis. Bivariate analysis  found that obesity variable has a relationship with the occurrence of diabetes mellitus type II (p-value 0.005) and physical activity variable also has a relationship with the occurrence of diabetes mellitus   type II (p-value 0.001). There is a relationship of obesity and physical activity with the occurrence of diabetes mellitus type II at the age of > 40 years in the working area of Bukit Hindu Health Center.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by the Dengue Virus (DENV), transmitted through the Aedes spp. Examination of hematocrit levels and platelet counts can support the diagnosis of DHF. Early detection is needed to predict the severity and determine the appropriate management of DHF, to reduce the mortality rate due to DHF. It was knowing the relationship between hematocrit and platelet levels with the severity of dengue hemorrhagic fever in RSUD dr. Doris Sylvanus 2020-2021. Analytical observational research with sampling technique using total sampling. The data of this study were taken from the medical records of patients diagnosed with DHF and then analyzed using the Rank Spearman correlation test. The sample in this study amounted to 52 patients. Patients' hematocrit levels were within normal limits in 19 male patients (36.6%) and 20 female patients (38%). The patient platelet count <100,000/mm3 was found in 32 patients (61.5%). The results of Spearman's Rank analysis between hematocrit and the severity of DHF were p = 0.072 and r = 0.252, while between the number of platelets and the severity of DHF were p = 0.581 and r = -0.078. There is no relationship between hematocrit and platelet levels and dengue hemorrhagic fever severity.
