Abstract

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of mung bean sprout extracts on Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and estrogen hormone in female Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) exposed to monosodium glutamate (MSG).Materials and Methods: This true experimental study was conducted by using post-test only control group design in the laboratory for animal experimentation of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine - Airlangga University in which Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) aged 2 months weighing 150-200 grams were used in this experiment. The samples comprised of 5 rats distributed in each group, totaling 7 groups. I Control Group (P1) was provided with Aquades for 37 days; II (P2) was provided with Aquades for 7 days + MSG 0.03 mg/g of weight on day 8-37; III (P3) was provided with extract of mung bean sprouts 72mg/200g of weight on day 1-37 + MSG 0,03mg/g of weight; IV (P4) was provided with extract of mung bean sprouts 144mg/200g of weight on day 1-37 + MSG 0.03mg/g of weight; V (P5) was provided with Aquades for 7 days + MSG 0.7 mg/g of weight on day 8-37; VI (P6) was provided with extract of mung bean sprouts 72mg/200g of weight on day 1-37 + MSG 0.7mg/g of weight; VII (P7) was provided with extract of mung bean sprouts 144mg/200g of weight on day 1-37 + MSG 0.7mg/g of weight.Serum samples were taken for Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Estrogen with ELISA method. Data analysis to test the differences between groups was done by using one way Anova statistical test. Results: MSG dosage 0,03mg/gBB or 0,7mg/g BB was significant difference in FSH (p = 0,011) and estrogen (p = 0,008).Conclusion: obtained from this research that giving green bean sprout extract influence to the level of FSH and estrogen hormone.

Abstract

Background: Simulation and debrief are one kind of learning method used in midwifery education.Repetition of the simulation (redo) after debrief is expected to improve students’ satisfaction and learningachievement. In Indonesia, the implementation of the simulation method has not been well structured andredo research is still limited.Aims: This research examined the differences between students’ satisfaction, learning achievement andimplementation time when doing the first simulation and redo after debrief in the antenatal care subject.Method: The study used a pre-experimental quantitative method that observes the level of satisfaction, learning achievement and time used when doing the first simulation and redo after the debriefing. Thesamples were 45 midwifery students using a total sampling technique. Data on students’ satisfaction levelswere obtained through the interview method with a questionnaire and the learning achievement and timewere obtained through the observation method with a checklist graph. The data of the study were analyzedusing the Wilcoxon signed ranks test.Result: There were significant differences in the level of students’ satisfaction and the learning achievementwhen doing the first simulation and redo after debrief, but there was no significant difference in the timeallocated to finish the scenario when doing the first simulation and redo after debrief. Conclusion: The Redo after debriefs simulation increases the level of students’ satisfaction and learningachievement on midwifery students in the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia.

Abstract

Maternal mortality is still a global health issue even though it is decreasing every year. In Indonesia, based on the 2015 SUPAS, the maternal mortality rate reached 305 per 100000 live births, this figure is still very far from the SDGs target (Bappenas, 2017). Postpartum hemorrhage or better known as post-partum hemorrhage (HPP) is a cause of maternal death with an incidence of 1%-6% of all deliveries (Wormer et al., 2022). One of the efforts to prevent the occurrence of HPP is by implementing active management in the third stage of labor. This discussion aims to collect and analyze articles to identify the effectiveness of active management as a treatment for the third stage of labor. The results of this discussion show that the management of the third stage of labor with an active management approach reduces the amount of blood loss and shortens the duration of the third stage of labor compared to physiological management. However, these studies have low or even very low quality. Meanwhile, research on the active management measures of the third stage showed insignificant results regarding the main outcome in the form of the amount of bleeding. So that further research is needed regarding the effectiveness of the application of active management in the management of the third stage of labor and whether active management should be carried out in all low-risk and high-risk patients.

Abstract

The high maternal mortality rate (MMR) is still a problem that Indonesia must face today. Through the results of the 2015 Inter-Census Population Survey (Supas), the government estimates that the MMR in Indonesia reaches 305 per 100,000 live births. Maternal health services that are carried out sustainably (Continuity of Maternal Healthcare) is a concept that can be applied to reduce MMR in Indonesia. This literature review aims to describe the implementation and utilization of Continuity of Care in Indonesia. Literature searches were carried out on Google Scholar, Science Direct, and PubMed search engines with the last 5 years of publication. The results of the analysis of the 7 articles obtained relate to the description of the implementation and utilization of Continuity of Maternal Healthcare in Indonesia which is influenced by sociodemographic, cultural, and performance factors of midwives. It can be concluded that the implementation of Continuity Of Maternal Healthcare is important to do in order to achieve service quality and reduce maternal mortality and morbidity in Indonesia.
