Abstract

Mail-order bride websites can be easily found in cyberspace. These websites sell Indonesian women to Chinese men as wives. This study aims to explore the phenomenon of women cyber-trafficking in mail-order bride websites, especially the background of mail-order bride websites and their impacts on the victims. This qualitative research used the case study approach and the socialist feminism theory to investigate three mail-order bride websites. This study concludes that the oppression of women on mail-order bride websites is caused by long-standing patriarchy in Indonesia and China reflected in daily practices, cultural manifestations, and literary works in both countries. Capitalism has also played a role in the emergence of mail-order bride websites. This paper suggests promotion of gender equality and eradication of human trafficking in order to minimize cyber-trafficking through mail-order bride websites.

Abstract

The involvement of both parents in parenting (co-parenting) has positive implications for children’s growth and development, including in families with working mothers. The growing number of working women, one of whom lives in Bekasi Regency, emphasizes the importance of balancing the responsibilities of both parents in raising children. Unfortunately, fathers’ involvement in parenting is still limited. This study examines how the division of parenting responsibilities works in working parents families from case study research on families with working mothers in Bekasi Regency, the research focuses on the positions of mothers and fathers in the distribution of parenting roles, the challenges of involving fathers in parenting, and evaluates that encourage father involvement in parenting. According to the intersectionality theory, even though father involvement is increasing, there is an imbalance in the distribution of parenting roles. This inequality is caused by the intersection of many factors, like socio-political, cultural, economic, educational, and religious interpretation factors. Thus, intervention efforts are needed in these various factors to maximize the role of fathers in parenting, for the realization of Indonesia Emas 2045.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct synergy between all penta helix actors, to improve educational quality. To answer this problem, we use qualitative research with a case studies approach in Riau Islands province, Bangka Belitung Islands province, Bali province, and Gorontalo province. This study discovered synergy between all Penta Helix actors, including central government, regional government, business sector, education sector, society, and media. However, there are several barriers to implementing this synergy. As a result, this study recommends strengthening synergy between institutions at the central level of government (Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology), Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) in provincial and district governments, and all Penta Helix actors. The implications of this study could be used to improve education quality in Indonesia.
