Abstract

This study aims to determine the efficiency of the success of Artificial Insemination (AI) in Friesian Holsteincattle in Padang Panjang City in 2015. The results of this study can serve as a guideline and reference for breeders andinseminators in implementing AI on Holstein Friesian cattle, so that the value of Conception Rate, Non Efficient ReturnRate and Service Per Conception. The method used is by collecting data on the implementation of AI in HolsteinFriesian cows from the inseminator, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Puskesmas Padang Panjang City. Thedata obtained were analyzed and obtained CR values of 49.62 ± 0.50%, NR values of 75.93 ± 0.43% and S / C values of1.82 ± 0.97. From the research results it can be concluded that the implementation of Artificial Insemination in PadangPanjang is in the efficient category.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama thawing terhadap kualitas semen beku sapi Friesian Holstein produksi BIB Lembang yang di simpan di UPTD Puskeswan Kota Padang Panjang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Terdiri dari 3 perlakuan yaitu lama thawing 1 detik, 10 detik dan 20 detik pada suhu 38°C dan setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 5 kali. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah semen beku sapi FH produksi BIB Lembang sebanyak 15 straw dengan kode pejantan yang sama. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Bioteknologi Ternak Universitas Andalas Padang. Dari hasil penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa lama thawing 1 detik, 10 detik dan 20 detik memberikan perbedaan tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap persentase hidup, persentase motilitas dan persentase abnormalitas pada semen beku sapi FH yang di thawing pada suhu 38ºC. Berdasarkan dari hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan semen beku sapi FH produksi BIB Lembang yang di thawing pada suhu 38ºC selama 1 detik, 10 detik dan 20 detik masih layak untuk di IB

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using rumen content bioactivators with the addition of different energy sources on nutrient content, fiber fraction content, and energy estimation in palm leaves and midribs that will be used as feed ingredients for ruminants.  Factorial completely randomized design 2x4 with 4 replications for each treatment was used in this study. Factor A is the source of the rumen contents, where A1 = Cattle rumen, A2 = Buffalo rumen. Factor B is a microbial energy supply; B1 = Molasses, B2 = Molasses + palm frond extract, B3 = Molasses + palm leaf extract, B4 = Molasses + palm frond and leaf extract.  Parameters observed were dry matter content, organic matter, crude protein. The results of the variance analysis showed that there was no interaction (P> 0.05) between the source of rumen content and the type of microbial energy supply. The dry matter content of palm fronds is not affected by the source of the rumen content of cows or buffaloes. The source of the rumen content based on cattle or buffaloes have no effect on the dry matter content of palm fronds. Keywords: Bioactivator, oil palm frond, ruminant.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the dry matter, organic matter, and crude protein content of palm oil fronds incubated with local microorganism source of rumen content and crude enzymes produced through the rumen of cattle. The rumen contents of the beef were incubated for 7 days with a fermented system in the rumen with the addition of molasses and soybean soaking water as a source of food and energy, as well as the addition of palm fronds as a source of lignin enzymes. The design used was factorial completely randomized design 2 X 3 with 3 replications for each treatment. Factor A consisted of two treatments, there were: A1 = Local microorganism source of rumen content of beef, A2 = crude enzyme. Factor B using of dose: B1 = 10%, B2 = 20%, B3 = 30%. The parameters observed were: dry matter content, organic matter, crude protein.  The resulted were 33.11-34.75% the content of dry matter, 93.40-93.08% the content of organic matter, and the content of crude protein based on this research data, it can be concluded that the incubation treatment of oil palm fronds with local microorganisms (Mol) and crude enzymes affects the dry matter and organic matter content. Crude protein content ranged from 6.70 to 7.38%.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluation the effect using of crude enzymes base on the rumen contents of cattle as bio activators with different doses and incubation length on the dry matter, organic matter, and crude protein content of palm oil fronds to be used as ruminants feed.  The completely factorial randomized design with 3 replications for each treatment was used in this study. Factor A was the incubation length of the palm fronds, where A1 = 7 days, A2 = 14 days. Factor B dose of crude enzyme; B1 = 5%, B2 = 10%, B3 = 15%. Parameters observed were dry matter content, organic matter, crude protein. The results showed that there was no interaction effect (p>0.05) between incubation length and different doses of crude enzymes on dry matter, organic matter, and crude protein content of palm fronds. The highest dry matter content was 93.89%, the highest organic matter was 89.22% and the highest crude protein content was 11.04%. The best results in this study were at a dose of 10% treatment with an incubation period of 7 days.

Abstract

Kelompok wanita tani (KWT) Maju Bersama merupakan kelompok tani yang anggotanya terdiri dari ibu-ibu Rumah tangga yang berdomisili di Nagari Koto Laweh kabupaten Solok. KWT ini beranggotakan 26 ibu-ibu petani. Anggota KWT ini rata-rata mempunyai tingkat pendidikan SLTP dan SLTA, yang pekerjaan utama sebagai ibu rumah tangga dan bertani dianggap sebagai usaha sampingan. Posisi nagari Koto Laweh yang dekat kaki gunung Talang menyebabkan suasana yang masih natural dikelilingi tanaman hutan lindung. Potensi dan peluang ibu-ibu anggota KWT Maju Bersama masih bisa dikembangkan dan ditingkatkan produktivitasnya sehingga mampu mandiri secara ekonomi. Posisi Nagari Koto Laweh yang masih natural disekitar hutan, dan masih banyak tanaman dan pohon-pohon, selain bertani menanam sayuran juga sangat berpotensi jika Ibu-ibu anggota KWT Maju bersama beternak lebah galo-galo, yang dapat mendapatkan produk madu dan propolis. Beternak lebah galo-galo relative mudah dan tidak begitu menyita waktu peternaknya. Penyediaan bahan pakan lebah dari jenis tanaman seperti jenis nangka, kaliandra, pepaya dan bunga-bunga lain sebagainya yang menghasilkan serbuk sari, nektar dan getah. Program Kemitraan Masyarakat dilakukan pada KWT Maju Bersama ini bertujuan untuk transfer IPTEK kepada Mitra anggota Kelompok Wanita Tani untuk beternak lebah galo-galo karena tidak bersengat dan tidak menrang manusia, sehingga dapat meningkatkan permberdayaan ekonomi anggota KWT.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using cricket flour (Gryllus sp) in the diet on the number, duration, and frequency of crowing crowning of balenggek cocks for 12-24 weeks. This study used 48 male balenggek crowing cocks which were given additional cricket flour diets. The completely randomized design (CRD), with 4 treatments, was used as the experimental design in this research. The treatments were: PO (no cricket flour), Pl (used cricket flour 2%), P2 (used cricket flour 4%), and P3 (used cricket flour 6%). Each treatment was repeated 4 times and each replication consisted of 3 male kokok balenggek cocks. The variables measured in this study were the number of crowings, duration, and frequency of crowing of kokok balenggek cocks at 12-24 weeks of age. The results showed that the addition of cricket flour in the ration had a significantly different effect (P<0.05) on the number of crows and the duration of crowing, and a very significant effect (P<0.01) on the crowing frequency of balenggek cocks at the age of 12- 24 weeks with the best number of crowings, duration, and frequency of crowing was in P3 (was used of 6% cricket flour)

Abstract

An experiment was conducted for 12 weeks to determine the effects of dietary inclusion of oil palm seed meal in the diet on the production performance of growing native chickens. 60 unsexed native chicks used in this study. They were randomly allotted into receive four dietary treatments with five replicates of three chicks/replicate. Dietary treatments were formulated according to NRC (1994) recommendations, and the four dietary treatments consisted of T0, T1, T2, and T3 supplemented with 0%ˏ 25%ˏ 50% and 75% of dietary inclusion of oil palm seed meal in the commercial diet supplied by Sinta Prima Feed Mill Indonesiaˏ and they contained 3000, 2688, 2375 and 2063 kkal/kg of metabolisable energy and 21, 17, 13, and 9% crude protein respectively. The parameters measured were feed intake, feed conversion, body weight gain, body weight, carcass percentage and income over feed cost (IOFC). Dietary inclusion of oil palm seed meal in the diet for native chickens resulted highly significant (P <0.01) feed intake, feed conversion ratio, body weight gainˏ body weight and IOFC. While dietary inclusion of oil palm seed meal in their diets produced no significant effect (P> 0.05) on their percentage of carcasses. In conclusionˏ dietary oil palm seed meal can be included up to 50% in the diet of native chickens until the age of 12 weeks, and resulted in their weight gain were relatively similar to the control diet with their feed conversion ratio was the lowest compared with other treatments

Abstract

This study aims to determine how using cricket flour in rations affects body weight gain, ration consumption, and ration conversion of Balenggek crowing chickens for 12 weeks. Completely Randomized Design (CRD) 4 (four) treatments and 4 (four) replications, with 3 AKB males per replication. Treatment consists of P0 = No use of 0% cricket flour, P1 = Use of 2% cricket flour, P2 = Use of 4% cricket flour, P3 = Use of 6% cricket flour. The parameters measured in this research are Body Weight Gain, Ration Consumption, and Ration Conversion. The research results showed that the average body weight gain ranged from 45.53 -70.24 gr/head/week, feed consumption 296.69 - 319.30 gr/head/ week, and ration conversion 4.63 - 6.51%. From the research results it can be concluded that the addition of cricket flour in the ration had a very significantly different effect (P<0.01) on body weight gain, ration consumption, and ration conversion of balenggek roosters for 12 weeks with the best treatment P3 (Use of 6% Cricket Flour ).

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of rumen-content bioactivators in citronella waste on dry matter, organic matter, and crude protein content. Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments with different incubation times, namely (0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 days), each treatment was repeated three times. The variables observed in this study were dry matter content, organic matter, and crude protein. This study showed that the length fermentation of citronella waste with rumen content bioactivator had no significant effect (P>0.01) on dry matter. On organic matter and crude protein, fermentation of citronella waste using rumencontent bioactivators had a hight significant effect (P<0.01). Based on the research results, it can be concluded that fermenting citronella waste using a rumen content bioactivator at a dose of 10% with long incubation times (0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 days) can increase the content of crude protein and organic material in curing for 20 days.
