Abstract

Pityrosporum ovale is a microorganism thought to be the main cause of dandruff. Binahong and lemongrass are herbal plants that can cure various diseases. Based on usage empirical leaf binahong and lemongrass kitchen nutritious for remove dandruff, hair loss, diabetes mellitus, anti- cancer and treatment on infection skin caused by bacteria nor mushrooms. Binahong leaf extract and extract lemongrass contain metabolites secondary wrong only flavonoids. Flavonoids are effective as antimicrobials. Destination from study this The purpose of this study was to determine the antifungal activity of the combination of binahong leaf extract (Anredera cordifolia) and lemongrass extract (Cymbopogon citratus) against Pityrosporum ovale . This study used 5 test groups, which consisted of a combination group of binahong leaf extract and lemongrass F1 = concentration 50%:50%, F2 = concentration 37,5%:12,5%, F3 = concentration 25%:25% and F4 = concentration 12,5%:37,5%, and the control group was positive (ketoconazole 2%) and negative ( aquadest), with 3 repetitions. The materials used in this study were binahong leaf simplicia and kitchen lemongrass simplicia macerated using 70% ethanol solvent, resulting in a thick extract which was then tested for antifungal activity against Pityrosporum ovale by the method diffusion paper disc on Sabouraud Dextrose Agar medium . The parameter observed was the diameter of the growth inhibition zone of the fungus Pityrosporum ovale . Analysis using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). The results of this study were binahong leaf extract and kitchen lemongrass extract positive containing flavonoid compounds. The combination of binahong leaf extract and citronella extract has the ability to inhibit the growth of the fungus Pityrosporum ovale with visible inhibition zones formed. The most effective concentration to inhibit the growth of the fungus Pityrosporum ovale was at a concentration of F1 = 50%:50% of 17.40 mm with a strong category.

Abstract

The Indonesian people know the moringa plant as a plant for consumption as a vegetable, a fetid decoction as well as animal feed. However, the Moringa plant, especially in the leaves, has another benefit , namely as an antioxidant. Antioxidants in Moringa leaves contain tannins, flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, steroids and terpenoids. The purpose of this study was to determine a good formulation for the preparation of moringa leaf extract lotion with variations in the concentration of triethanolamine. The research method used is the experimental method. Data analysis was performed using the One Way Anova and Kruskal Wallis Test statistical methods . The results showed that the organoleptic test of slightly thick texture preparations for formula I, thick texture for formulas II and III; typical preparation odor of Moringa leaf extract; the color of the preparation is yellow. Homogeneity test of formula I was not homogeneous, formula II was not homogeneous in the third replication, formula III was homogeneous. The average viscosity test for formula I was 1,800 c.Ps, formula II was 8,300 c.Ps, formula III was 1,666 c.Ps. The average pH test for formula I was 6, formula II was 7, formula III was 8. The average adhesion test for formula I was 02.76 seconds, formula II was 02.02 seconds, formula III was 01.37 seconds. The average spreadability test for formula I was 3.9 cm, formula II was 6.6 cm, formula III was 6.9 cm. Based on the evaluation results obtained, it can be concluded that the triethanolamine concentration of 2.5% produces a good formulation for lotion preparations.

Abstract

Keji Beling (Strobilanthes crispus BI.) is a plant that has been used by the community as a traditional medicine for kidney stones, diabetes mellitus, ulcers and as a laxative. Keji beling contains many beneficial substances such as flafonoids and tannins. This research aims to determine the content of flavonoid and tannin phytochemical compounds and to determine length Maximum waves in flavonoid and tannin compounds in keji beling leaf extract (Strobilanthes crispus BI.). Keji beling leaves were extracted using the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. Secondary metabolite content was identified qualitatively using a phytochemical screening test. Flavonoids were tested with concentrated MgSO4 and HCl reagents and tannins were tested with FeCl3 reagent. Qualitative analysis using the UV-Vis Spectrophotometry method. Results Research shows that the phytochemical screening test on keji beling leaf extract (Strobilanthes crispus BI.) is positive for containing flavonoids and tannins, indicated by a color change in the phytochemical screening test. Qualitative analysis results appear at a maximum wavelength  of 465 nm for flavonoids, and for tannin compounds at a maximum wavelength  of 765 nm.

Abstract

Ethanol is widely used as a distiller of secondary metabolite compounds. Ethanol very well dissolves secondary metabolite compounds including flavonoids group compounds including for papaya (Carica papaya L.) leaf extraction. This review was conducted to examine solvent optimization that has been used in various original studies. The method of searching scientific journal article using PubMed and MDPI using keyword “extraction and ethanol and flavonoid and carica papaya leaf” with the inclusion criteria of 2018 – 2023 article, free full text and not review articles, the number of article obtained was 3 articles. The optimal concentration of ethanol as a flavonoid extract solven is 70 % ethanol at temperatures from 30 °C – 50°C with a time range of 10 – 48 hours of immersion.
