Abstract

Universitas Kristen Wira Wacana Sumba is one of the universities that organizes online learning. This happened as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This situation requires all lecturers to be able to conduct online learning by utilizing the available facilities, namely Google Classroom and Google Meet, both permanent and adjunct lecturers. Permanent lecturers have used the application since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, while adjunct lecturers who held lessons this semester have never used the Google Classroom and Google Meet applications. If this is allowed, then learning will not be held properly. Therefore, this training is carried out in several stages, namely analyzing the needs of non-permanent lecturers, implementing activities, and following up. This training makes the online learning by adjunct lecturers can be carried out properly. Based on the results of the follow-up, the participants proposed further training on the use of Google Classroom, especially in making assignment assessment rubrics and quizzes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the numeracy ability profile of high school elementary school students in Malumbi, East Sumba Regency. This numeracy ability was carried out at a grade 5 school in the high class area as a reference point used to analyze comparisons before finally moving on to a larger stage of research scope. This type of research is qualitative with the instrument used in data collection is the Numeral Test, namely the test uses EGMA (Early Grade Mathematics Assessment) measurements, interviews and observations. The results of the research on the school's numeracy skills which were collected through the numeration test found that elementary school students were in the low category with an average score of 18.43. This is caused by several factors such as textbooks which so far have only been provided while at school, learning media that are less interesting so learning becomes boring, and students are not used to being given story questions, so that students' numeracy skills in solving number pattern problems, recognizing and comparing numbers and there are still many mistakes in word problems, as well as follow-up on teacher competence in teaching mathematics so that there are no misconceptions in learning.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the level of mathematical literacy among elementary school-aged children in one of the schools in Lewa Paku District, East Sumba Regency. This research employed a mixed method of quantitative and qualitative approaches. The participants in this study were 20 students (10 students with good grades and ten students with poor grades in class), teachers, the school principal, and the head of the Education Office of East Sumba. The research instruments were mathematical tests adapted from the Early Grade Mathematics Assessment (EGMA), key informant interview guidance applied to all the participants, and observation during the learning processes. The quantitative data was analyzed using the descriptive technique, while the qualitative collected data was processed by data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The findings showed that the mathematical literacy of the fifth grade was in a low category. Factors affecting the student's math skills were less learning media, less conducive classes, limited, outdated, and unattractive printed textbooks, inadequate learning and teaching facilities, and less trained teachers. This research finding provides relevant and timely information to support students' achievement by adjusting policies, reforming curricula or programs, and instructional practices. Also, the policymaker can evaluate the effectiveness of the current education programs to decide on better interventions in supporting the students to improve their understanding of early math concepts.

Abstract

Research objective: This research aims to determine the inhibiting factors for the business development of BUM Desa in East Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Research method: The research method used was grounded theory and employed a qualitative approach to bring a phenomenon into theory. The study was conducted by collecting data from enumerators who were Unkriswina Sumba students. The collected data comprised 64 informants from 19 BUM Desa spread over 14 sub-districts in East Sumba Regency. Results: There are six factors causing obstacles to the business of BUM Desa in East Sumba Regency from developing, namely: 1) Low readiness of Human Resources (HR) in managing BUM Desa businesses, 2) low public awareness to support the running of BUM Desa, 3 ) management or financial management that is still lacking, 4) low planning analysis before starting a business, 5) poor oversight and coordination functions from the village government to BUM Desa administrators, and 6) lack of BUM Desa infrastructure. The novelty of research: a research approach based on a grounded theory approach to identify the factors causing the BUM Desa activities not to work based on the root of the problem and the phenomenon, then from this phenomenon, a theory is formed, which is also known as "mini theory".
