Abstract

Misconception is a notion which is contradictory with the scientific one or the idea claimed by experts in a certain Field; the notion is inaccurate upon a concept, the concept use is false, its exemplifications are wrong, the different concepts are confusing, and the hierarchical relation of the concepts is wrong. Therefore, information about misconception is required so as to avoid a continuous misconception. One of the factors which affect the mastery of concept by the students deals with their cognitive style. The objective of this research is to identify and describe the existence of misconception in the subject matter of Basic Introduction to Mathematics with the topic of discussion of Logics viewed from the students’ cognitive style.This research used a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. The subjects of the research were the first semester students of the Study Program of Mathematics Education of STKIP PGRI Pacitan, Year 2011. The samples of the research were taken by using the purposive sampling technique. The identification of the existence of misconception was done by using the Certainty of Response Index (CRI) developed by Saleem Hasan, and the identification of the students’ cognitive style was conducted by using the instrument of Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT) developed by Witkin. The data of the research were analyzed by using the model claimed by Miles and Huberman.The results of the research show that the proportion of misconception by the students with the cognitive style of Field dependent (FD) is higher than that of students with the cognitive style of Field independent (FI). The students with FD undergo more misconceptions in inversion, conversion, and contraposition (38%) whereas the students with FI undergo more misconceptions in plural statement negations and in negations with quantifiers (32%). The misconceptions by the students with FD are largely caused by their wrong pre-conception and low ability. Meanwhile, the misconceptions by the students with FI are mostly due to their wrong simplification and intuition. Keywords: Misconception, cognitive style, CRI and GEFT.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Games as something that is considered fun can be used to load the contents of education that can help in delivering positive values ​​in building human intelligence as a whole. Because the game can train the brains ability to actively, stimulating the brain in making decisions, has greater challenges. On SDN  Sooka I in the learning process is still konvensinal ie teachers teaching science AND IPS in presenting material to students with books and explain on the board. This causes the students to look bored and not focus on the material presented. In addition students were lazy to open and review the subjects at home. It is based on primary data obtained in the form of photo documentation, and results of the interview to the teachers teaching science AND social studies students. The purpose of this observation is helping students to want to go back to review teaching science and social studies at home so that when the subject matter is presented in school students already have a stock of prior knowledge of the results of learning at home by playing this educational game. The methodology used was the literature research, observation, interviews, analysis, design, and implementation. With Game Education Subjects science and social studies are to help students learn independently at home. Keyword : Game Education, IPA, IPS ABSTRAKSI: Game sebagai suatu hal yang di anggap menyenangkan dapat digunakan untuk memuat konten-konten edukasi yang dapat membantu dalam menyampaikan nilai-nilai positif dalam membangun kecerdasan manusia secara utuh. Karena game dapat melatih kemampuan otak secara aktif, merangsang otak dalam membuat keputusan, lebih mempunyai tantangan. Pada SDN Sooka I dalam proses pembelajarannya masih bersifat konvensinal yaitu guru mata pelajaran IPA DAN IPS dalam menyampaikan materi kepada para siswa dengan buku dan menerangkan di papan tulis. Hal ini menyebabkan para siswa menjadi terlihat bosan dan tidak fokus terhadap materi yang disampaikan. Selain itu siswa terlihat malas untuk membuka dan mengulas kembali mata pelajaran tersebut di rumah. Hal ini diperoleh berdasarkan dari data primer dalam bentuk dokumentasi foto, dan hasil dari interview kepada guru mata pelajaran IPA DAN IPS dan siswa. Tujuan dari penenlitian ini adalah membantu siswa agar mau kembali mengulas mata pelajaran IPA dan IPS di rumah sehingga pada saat materi pelajaran tersebut disampaikan di sekolah siswa sudah punya bekal pengetahuan terlebih dahulu dari hasil belajar di rumah dengan bermain game edukasi ini. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah kepustakaan, observasi, wawancara, analisis, perancangan, dan implementasi. Dengan Game Edukasi Mata Pelajaran IPA dan IPS  ini dapat membantu siswa belajar mandiri di rumah. Kata Kunci : Game Edukasi, IPA, IPS

Abstract

Coastal Waters of Lembeh Strait characterizes by small waves and bathymetry undulation. While Sangihe waters have big waves, coastal bays with gently sloping beaches and flawless beaches that are generally steep headlands or cliffs on the shoreline. Differences in these two characters are interesting to watch, especially the value of the Mean Sea Level (MSL). The Least square method is the method of calculating the tidal harmonic constants which are the amplitude and phase lag. Formzahl number calculation is used to determine the type of the tidal in these two waters. The Formzahl numbers of these two waters ranged from 0.26-1.5, so there was no difference in the tidal type. The type of tidal of these two waters was catagorised as Mixed Tide Prevailing Semidiurnal, which is generally in eastern Indonesia waters. Comparison of the fluctuation of Mean Sea Level (MSL) in Lembeh Strait waters in normal climatic conditions, lanina and elnino showed the difference in height. In elnino condition, the MSL value was 87 mm lower (5.9%) than in normal operating condition (1387 mm), and in lanina condition, the average of MSL was higher 51 mm (3.46%) of the normal condition (1525 mm). While in normal climatic conditions, the MSL was 1474 mm© Perairan laut di Selat Lembeh mempunyai karakteristik gelombang kecil dan batimetri berundulasi.  Sedangkan di perairan Sangihe memiliki gelombang besar, pantai teluk berparas pantai landai dan pantai tanjung yang umumnya terjal atau bertebing pada garis pantai. Perbedaan dua karakter ini menjadi hal yang menarik untuk diamati, terutama muka air laut rerata (MLR). Metode least square adalah metode perhitungan pasang surut yang digunakan untuk menghitung konstanta harmonik yaitu amplitude dan kelambatan fase. Dengan perhitungan bilangan Formzahl akan mengetahui tipe pasang surut di kedua perairan tersebut. Diperoleh bilangan Formzahl perairan tersebut berkisar antara 0,26-1,5, sehingga tidak ada perbedaan tipe pasang surutnya. Tipe pasang surut antara kedua perairan ini adalah tipe pasang surut campuran condong ke harian ganda. Pasang surut jenis ini banyak terdapat di perairan Indonesia bagian timur.  Perbandingan fluktuasi muka laut rerata (MLR) di perairan Selat Lembeh pada kondisi iklim normal, El Niño dan La Niña menunjukkan perbedaan ketinggian. Di mana pada kondisi El Niño mempunyai muka laut rerata (MLR) lebih rendah 87 mm (5,9%) dari kondisi normalnya yaitu 1387 mm dan pada kondisi La Niña mempunyai muka laut rerata (MLR) lebih tinggi 51 mm (3,46%) dari kondisi normalnya yaitu 1525 mm. Sedangkan pada kondisi iklim normal muka laut rerata (MLR) adalah 1474 mm©
