Abstract

Savonius water turbine is one of the simplest design and low cost production that attracts wide attention. A single stage Savonius water turbine with horizontal axis is applied in a pipe with diameter of 3 inch to give variation in the deflector angle. Deflector is used to focusing the flow so the torque is increased by the blade curvature in the turbine. This simulation uses the SolidWork 2013 software. The aim of this simulation is to obtain the best performance in each deflector angle, then the result is compared with a turbine without deflector. The deflector performance is analyzed by the pressure contour, the torque and the angle of attack. The deflector angle is vary in different angle of 20°, 30°, 40° and 50° with the deflector ratio of 50%. By using debit input of 12,2x10-3 m3/s, the results show that angle deflector of 30° is obtained as the best performance where it produce the pressure contour about 279820,99 Pa, torque of 0,6070 Nm and more stable in angle of attack. Abstract

The increasing of infrastructure development causing in increased demand for sand material. On the other hand, the sand still contains many other components such as gravel. The size of good sand according to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI - 03-247-2002) is natural or artificial sand produced by the stone crusher industry with the largest grain size of 5 mm. On the other hand, the lack of infrastructure of the Tanggalan vilage and the small income of the village has resulted in an uneven distribution of the regional economy. Youths and heads of the Tanggalan village see the potential to increase the village's income by making sieving businesses and providing good quality building sand. The manual sieving process takes longer, so it has an impact on the development process as well as from an economic point of view on the long construction costs. So, it is necessary to have a rotary type automatic sieving machine that has a function to separate fine sand grains or according to the criteria requested by consumers with gravel. Rotary type sieving machine with a capacity of 10 m3/hour, so it is expected to meet the demand and accelerating development process. In addition, with this tool, hamlet businesses can be formed to increase hamlet income.Key words: Business, Enhancement, National Standard, Rotary, Sand Sieve.

Abstract

Currently, bread is one of the alternative staple foods that is quite in demand by the public. This has resulted in the bread making industry being enthusiastically welcomed by business people because it has bright and open opportunities for large and small scales. However, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) industry is unable to compete. One of them is because of the use of technology in the dough kneading process. This article discusses product planning for a horizontal type of bread dough mixer using the Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) method and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) analysis where the design is based on design, materials, analysis, and equipment and manufacturing process planning. In this study, the Action Research method, engineering engineering and the Solidwork simulation design software were used. The design of the machine can be used for a stirring capacity of 10 kg and a rotation speed of 40 rpm. The results of the design consist of several main parts, namely the main frame, container, stirrer, motor, and transmission system

Abstract

Rotary tiller commonly used effectively to process the soil before planting in a terrain area. The design of the blade in rotary tiller was a significant factor in achieving soil breakup and more efficient inversion evenmore soil-fertilizer mixing. The blades design for an unmanned tiller with omnidirectional movement was required intensive research. A prototype unmanned tiller was manufactured, and it has four screw wheel blade that required optimal design and high accuracy movement for soil processing application.  In the present research, the design of the screw blade is investigated by mathematical and simulation method. The model was reverse engineering from commercial blades become screw-like blade wheel design. The calculation of the screw wheel design performance uses a mathematical approach identical to that of a screw conveyor and also it is supported by simulations to find the critical point of the structure and maximum defection in the screw wheel structure. Meanwhile, to study the lift-motion and moving of soil particles, simulations were carried out with variations in the depth of the screw blades on the ground surface, namely 20%, 40% and 50%. From the calculation result, the optimal rotational speed and power are found at the intersection point the percentage of soil depth and vortek efficiency, they are 350 rpm at 1.5 kW power.

Abstract

In early 2020 the whole world was shaken by the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused panic everywhere. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted various aspects of life such as health, social, economic, etc. One of the main problems is food security, which is currently becoming a very active topic of conversation. Based on these problems, community service through UNS KKN activities is carried out with work programs to improve food security in the form of cultivation and viticulture, increase the role of the Abimanyu reservoir, and additional programs to support food security in Ngropoh Village, Kranggan District, Temanggung Regency. The results of community service activities show that the community has experienced an increase in fulfilling their daily food needs and can live and carry out activities more healthily

Abstract

Condongsari merupakan salah satu desa di Kabupaten Purworejo, Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Desa Condongsari merupakan salah satu desa sasaran Universitas Sebelas Maret dalam pelaksanaan Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) periode Januari-Februari 2021. Pelaksanaan KKN tersebut mengusung tema “Pengembangan Kepedulian Lingkungan dan Kesehatan di Desa Condongsari, Kecamatan Banyuurip, Kabupaten Purworejo”. Tema tersebut dirasa sesuai untuk pengembangan desa dengan tetap memperhatikan kondisi siaga di tengah wabah pandemi Covid-19. KKN UNS telah menyelesaikan 6 program kerja utama dan 6 program kerja penunjang dalam bidang kebersihan, kesehatan, pendidikan, multimedia, pertanian, dan literatur. Seluruh program telah terlaksana dengan baik dengan tetap menerapkan protokol kesehatan secara ketat. Partisipasi masyarakat dan pemerintah Desa Condongsari sangat baik dalam merespon program kegiatan yang dilaksanakan oleh Tim KKN UNS. Semua program utama dan penunjang yang telah terealisasi diharapkan dapat mengoptimalkan potensi yang dimiliki Desa Condongsari. Setiap kegiatan yang telah berlangsung secara kontinyu diharapkan agar tetap dipertahankan sebagai bekal bagi masyarakat Desa Condongsari untuk mengembangkan potensi desa di tengah kondisi normal baru pasca pandemi Covid-19. Program yang telah terlaksana diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi yang bersifat membangun bagi Desa Condongsari.
