Abstract

In the real life people cannot be separated from requirement to uselanguage for a communication. However not all utterances incommunication are clear, there are some utterances are implied.Speakers usually imply the meaning of an utterance when it isinsinuating another. This condition can be found in “The Devil WearsPrada” film. The design of this study used descriptive qualitativemethod because in this study the data are taken from statements andutterances in conversation in “The Devil Wears Prada” film. The dataof these researches were the sentences, speeches, dialogues used by thecharacters in the film. After finding and understanding the implicaturesexpressed in the film, the writer decided and identified the types ofimplicatures that mostly expressed by the speaker in the film. The writerfound implicatures used in “The Devil Wears Prada” film, they aregeneralized and particularized conversational implicature. In this filmmost of speakers used particularized conversational implicature.Speakers produce generalized conversational implicature when no specialknowledge in the context to calculate the additional conveyed meaning, itmeans that the participants in communication should obey thecooperative principle and the four maxim and speakers usedparticularized conversational implicature when they flout maxims ofcooperative principle because when speakers flout these maximsintentionally, they must observe the cooperative principle on deeperlevel or the hearers have difficulty to understand their attention. Bydoing this research, the writer finally understands what are implicaturesand its type. She also understands the reason of the speakers produceimplied meanings in their conversations. In the last, the writergives the suggestion to the next researchers who interested in doingresearch in the same area they must make it be more complete analysisand look for the other unique conversation in other situation to give anew implicatures style.Keywords: Implicature, Utterance, Particularized, Generalized, Context.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Culture is an abstract form of the habits that exist in a society. Indonesia is a country with a lot of cultural wealth, one of which is the Mandailing Natal culture. This study focuses on the influence of Mandailing Natal culture on one of the villages in Mandailing Natal, namely the village of Parbangun whose research object is teenagers in religious moderation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Quantitative and field studies are the methods used in this research, namely by collecting sources of journals and books and then observing the data directly observed in the village of Parbangunan. keywords; Culture, Religious Moderation, Covid-19 Pandemic

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to assist students in learning English by using Wordwall in classroom learning and to produce new English vocabulary for students. Considering that the mastery of English for students today has become something that is highly expected. However, based on existing developments, students often find difficulties in the learning process. One method that can overcome this is the Wordwall Method. This activity is carried out at one of the tutoring places for young learners, namely Tunas Education Centre for elementary school children, which is located at Jalan Sosial NO.1A. district. Tanjung Morawa. Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. The target participants are grade IV elementary school students, totaling 15 participants. The method used is the method of theory and practice. The results obtained through this training are innovative learning knowledge using Wordwall which is expected to increase students' knowledge and vocabulary. This training received a good response and with positive results as well. However, the same activities can be carried out simultaneously to get better results

Abstract

Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk siswa siswi kelas 1 SMP Swasta Bhakti Bangsa Sei Semayang terutama kosa kata hewan, dalam pembelajaran sangatlah minim. Salah satu komponen pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang dalam perkembangannya paling bermasalah adalah penguasaan kosakata. Kosakata (Inggris: vocabulary) adalah himpunan kata yang diketahui maknanya dan dapat digunakan dalam suatu bahasa. Kosakata didefinisikan sebagai himpunan semua kata-kata yang dimengerti atau semua kata-kata yang akan digunakan untuk menyusun kalimat baru dalam percakapan sehari-hari. Kekayaan kosakata secara umum dianggap merupakan gambaran dari inteligensia seseorang atau tingkat pendidikannya. Tujuan dari pembelajaran ini agar siswa lebih meningkatkan lagi kosakata mereka dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris terutama dalam kosa kata kategori hewan. Melalui metode ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan yang melibatkan komunikasi nyata mendorong hasil belajar yang lebih baik. Siswa diberi keleluasaan untuk melakukan eksplorasi dibawah bimbingan guru dengan mengamati lingkungan sekitar, unjuk hafalan dan ingatan kosakata mereka melalui apa yang mereka lihat langsung sebagai wujud nyata dari kosa kata kategori hewan tersebut. Inovasi pembelajaran menggunakan latar kebun binatang dengan harapan siswa lebih tertarik dan mudah memahami kosa kata kategori hewan karena mereka dapat melihat objek atau hewan-hewan tersebut secara langsung juga membuat siswa semakin tertarik untuk belajar kosa kata tersebut sehingga bisa memperkaya kosakata mereka. Dengan menggunakan metode ini maka pembelajaran kosakata berlangsung dengan komunikatif dan menyenangkan sehingga pemahaman siswa akan kosakata bahasa.
