Abstract

Guru penutur asli Bahasa Inggris dan non-penutur asli Bahasa Inggris masing-masing memiliki kelebihan dan kekurangan. Namun, bagi siswa yang mempelajari Bahasa Inggris sebagai Bahasa asing, guru non-penutur asli memiliki kelebihan. Setidaknya, ada empat faktor kelebihan yang hanya bisa di kuasai oleh guru non-penutur asli, yaitu pengetahuan dasar, komunikasi yang efektif, pemahaman kesulitan dan kebutuhan siswa, serta pengaruh multi-budaya dan keanekaragaman. Berdasarkan faktor-faktor tersebut, bisa disimpulkan bahwa guru non-penutur asli memiliki peran yang lebih penting dalam meningkatkan kemampuan ber-Bahasa Inggris siswa.Keywords: NESTs, NNESTs, EFL, Learning

Abstract

Kemampuan menulis merupakan salah satu kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang harus dikuasai bagi pembelajar bahasa Inggris. Untuk menguasai kemampuan ini, seorang guru perlu menggunakan beragam metode. Setiap metode mempunyai kelebihan dan kekurangannya tersendiri. Dalam artikel ini dianalisis dua metode yang biasa digunakan dalam pengajaran kemampuan menulis yakni grammar instruction dan genre-based instruction. Di dalam artikel ini, empat penelitian yang berhubungan dengan grammar instruction dan empat penelitian yang berhubungan genre-based instruction dianalisis secara mendalam. Kelebihan dan kekurangan dari setiap metode dielaborasikan untuk mendapatkan informasi metode yang tepat dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa. Di dalam artikel ini genre-based instruction mempunyai peran yang lebih baik dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa.Kata Kunci: genre, genre-based instruction, grammar instruction, writing skill

Abstract

Several studies in some countries have mentioned the effectiveness of Dynamic Assessment (DA) in improving the students’ writing skills in English as a Foreign Languge (EFL) context. This study investigates the role of DA in improving students’ writing skill in Indonesian setting. The study used a quasi-experimental method in a public university in Indonesia. The participants were 30 English Diploma Students in their second year. The students were divided into control and experimental group. The experimental group received the treatment using DA approach, meanwhile the control received traditional method. The data were gathered through pretest and posttest. The data then were tabulated using SPSS. The descriptive analysis was conducted to find out its signficance. The result shows that DA has significant role in improving the students’ writing skill. Abstract

Reading offers a combination of challenges for EFL students. In this case, they meet layered difficulties from language barriers to lack of exposure to critically interpret the reading materials. Being aware of this circumstance, the present study attempts to examine the students’ responses in an EFL reading class where authentic assessment is being implemented to help them learn to read in English. In particular, this study is conducted to discover the students’ responses if the instructional framework could accommodate their needs in learning to read in L2. Further, a qualitative case study is applied, and data are collected from questionnaire and 16 meeting field-observation. Results of the study indicate that the students gradually respond positively to the application of authentic assessment. They reveal that authentic assessment (1) motivates them have a reading routine, so that they can find a lot more vocabulary and get used to English discourse, (2) trains them to demonstrate their reading comprehension in more constructive ways such as writing reviews, presentations, and discussions, and (3) helps them assess their own reading performance. In sum, the students admit that authentic assessment helps most of thethem enjoy reading throughout a series of social practices, in this case, the application of authentic assessment components including portfolios, performance assessment, and self-assessment.Keywords: students’ responses, authentic assessment, EFL reading

Abstract

Background: As an independent institution, Politeknik Sawunggalih Aji is trusted to hold one of the three requirements of administrative personnel selection, which is a Computer skill test. Objective: The aim is to conduct a computer skill test as one of three requirements of organizational personnel selection Method: Computer Skill test includes the mastery of Ms. Word, Ms. Excel, and Ms. PowerPoint. Results: The total score of the participants' test is qualified. Conclusion: The test is well run. The computer test is valued at 30% of the total score of the three requirements.

Abstract

Pembinaan terhadap wajib pajak diberikan melalui berbagai kegiatan edukasi pajak. Edukasi pajak ini diharapkan dapat menciptakan perilaku sadar pajak yang tinggi, meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan, serta kepatuhan pajak dari wajib pajak. Salah satu cara edukasi pajak kepada masyarakat adalah penyuluhan melalui pihak ketiga. Tax Center Politeknik sawunggalih Aji merupakan pihak ketiga yang ikut serta dalam peran meningkatkan kepatuhan wajip pajak dengan melibatkan mahasiswa dalam kegiatan relawan pajak. Tujuan dari pelaksanaan relawan pajak adalah untuk memberikan edukasi pajak, asistensi pelaporan surat pemberitahuan (SPT) tahunan pajak penghasilan (PPh) orang pribadi, yaitu membantu wajip pajak untuk dapat melaporkan SPTnya secara e-filing. Mahasiswa yang terlibat kegiatan relawawan pajak tidak hanya hanya memiliki kompetensi di bidang ilmu teoretis saja, tetapi juga memiliki kemahiran untuk menyelesaikan pekerjaan dengan baik. Pengabdian ini dilakukan di KPP Pratama Purworejo, selama kurang lebih satu bulan melalui empat tahap diantaranya: pelatihan, arahan, pelaksanaan program pendampingan dan evaluasi. Relawan pajak ini ditempatkan di KPP Purworejo dan juga juga ditempatkan di sejumlah instansi di kabupaten Purworejo. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah para wajib pajak merasa terbantu karena para relawan pajak juga ditempatkan di instansi pemerintahan, sehingga para wajib pajak yang memiliki profesi tidak harus datang langsung ke KPP Purworejo untuk melaporkan SPTnya.

Abstract

Politeknik Sawunggalih Aji sebagai Lembaga independen dipercaya untuk melaksanakan satu dari tiga tahapan seleksi pengisian perangkat desa, yaitu Uji Keterampilan Komputer. Adapun pelaksanaan Uji Keterampilan Komputer sebagai salah satu tahapan dalam seleksi pengisian perangkat desa Kambangan Kecamatan Bruno Kabupaten Purworejo. Metode yang digunakan adalah seleksi Keterampilan Komputer yang meliputi keterampilan Ms. Word, Ms. Excel dan Ms. PowerPoint. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah nilai peserta dalam Uji Keterampilan computer yaitu cukup. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa uji Keterampilan Komputer berjalan lancar, tertib dan disiplin. Uji Keterampilan Komputer mendapatkan 30% prosentase dari total skor keseluruhan tahapan.

Abstract

The high unemployment rate in Indonesia, with most of them are the Vocational High School’s graduates. It triggers the vocational schools to improve the competence of their graduates that they will be part of the industry and business. One of the steps taken by the school based on the applicable laws and regulations is On-the-job training (Prakerin). However, the Covid-19 pandemic that hit Indonesia made it impossible to carry out as usual. SMK NU Gebang took steps to fill this void by holding In-House Training as a substitute for internships. One of the materials provided in the In-House Training is Business Writing on the topic of Introduction to Business Correspondence. This activity was attended by 16 students of class XI of the Financial Accounting study program and the NU Gebang Vocational School. This activity is carried out for approximately one month (May – June 2022). The method used in this activity is the lecture of material with direct practice. From this activity, it is known that SMK NU Gebang students are actively involved in participating in the In-House Training. Students can also complete the assigned tasks well.
