Abstract

Thematic KKN- Thematic Social Work Internship have been carried out in the form of health education for the community in South Buton Regency. This activity aims to increase understanding of health in the context of handling the Corona Virus Disease 19 (Covid-19) outbreak. This activity was carried out in several villages in South Buton Regency. Activities were carried out from June to July 2020. Implementation of activities consisted of counseling on the Gerakan Masyarakat Hidup Sehat (Germas), counseling on the tanaman Obat Keluarga (Toga), and counseling on Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS), as well as disseminating information through social media and mass media. Extension is carried out by lecturing, practice, and question and answer methods. The social media used is Instagram. The mass media used are leaflets. This activity succeeded in increasing understanding of health for the community in South Buton Regency

Abstract

Nambo District is one of the coastal tourist destinations for the Kendari city community and its surroundings. As a tourist place, many mobilities of residents from outside enter the Nambo District area, making it vulnerable to the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak. In addition, there is still a lack of awareness of some people to implement the Healthy Living Community Movement, including the lack of knowledge of some people in utilizing and processing nutritious herbal plants into herbal medicines that can be used as traditional medicines in maintaining and improving health during a pandemic. The solution to this problem is counseling/socialization and education about using and strengthening efficacious herbal plants and making packaged herbal medicine (instant ginger), which are practical steps in maintaining and improving health during a pandemic and can have sold/economic value.

Abstract

Anemia merupakan kondisi tubuh ketika jumlah sel darah merah (kadar hemoglobin) berada di bawah normal. Data prevalensi anemia pada remaja putri masih tinggi di kendari, untuk itu perlu penanganan agar masalah ini dapat teratasi. Salah satu kegiatan yang dilakukan yaitu pemberian edukasi lewat kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat. Tujuan Kegiatan ini untuk memberikan Edukasi tentang Bahaya Anemia dan Penggunaan Tablet Penambah Darah pada Siswi SMP Negeri 5 Kendari. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah, diskusi dan pemutaran video edukasi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan oleh tim pengabdian Fakultas Farmasi, Fakultas kedokteran Universitas Halu Oleo serta melibatkan mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Profesi Apoteker Angkatan IX dan Puskesmas Poasia Kota Kendari dengan sasaran sebanyak 75 siswi. Hasil kegiatan ini siswi mendapatkan informasi tentang definisi, penyebab, cara mengatasi anemia, dan cara penggunaan tablet tambah darah dengan benar. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini yaitu siswi terpapar informasi tentang bahaya anemia dan penggunaan tablet penambah darah yang benar dan diharapkan dapat menolong dirinya sendiri sebelum ke fasilitas pelayanan kesehatan terdekat.

Abstract

Bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) fruit has been empirically used as an antibacterial and reported to have activity against acne-causing bacteria. This study aimed to formulate bitter melon ethanol extract in a spray gel preparation and test its activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis as one of the acne-causing bacteria. Pare fruit extract concentrations of 0.5%, 1%, and 2.5% are formulated into spray gel preparations with additional ingredients, Carbopol 940 0.1%, triethanolamine 0.5%, propylene glycol 15%, DMDM Hydantoin 0.6% and aquadest. The characterization of the physical properties of the spray gel preparation included organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, and dry time test. The results showed that the spray gel preparation of ethanol extract of Pare fruit had a liquid texture, brownish-yellow colour, and distinctive odour and was homogeneous. The spray gel preparation also meets pH, viscosity and dry time requirements. The antibacterial activity of spray gel preparations resulted in a diameter response of potent and robust inhibition.
