Abstract

This study aims to describe the model of character building of prospective marine transportation cadets in Malahayati Merchant Marine Polytechnic, Aceh, Indonesia. The research method used in this study was a qualitative method using a phenomenological research design. Through participatory action research, in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, the data were found, which Miles and Huberman’s model used as data analysis. The data analysis process consisted of data reduction, data display, drawing conclusion/verification. The research result showed that character educational implementation of Merchant Marine Education in Aceh was conducted through (1) the instruction method, education, suggestion, persuasion, trusting, punishment, guidance and counseling, Habituation, group discussion, and organizational activities. The method implementation adjusted to the activities and educational cadet level starting from prospective cadet to senior cadet. (2) Method implementation intervention conducted through the hidden curriculum like moral knowing, moral feeling, moral action, and religiosity that manifests in five diversity dimensions: religious belief, religious practice,  religious feeling, religious knowledge, and religious effects. (3) Attitude nurture implementation conducted through local wisdom habituation that includes exemplary figures of leaders/coach/trainers/senior cadets, behavioral standards, and reflection studies. (4) Religious character educational implementation bears a resilient cadet profile who is smart, professional, skilled, and good. This research finding recommended the importance of religiosity and local wisdom in building the character of Hardiness.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pembentukan karakter mandiri melalui pendidikan pertanian (agriculture)di Pondok Pesantren Islamic Studies Center Aswaja Lintang Songo Piyungan Bantul Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan studi kasus (case study). Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat lima prinsip pem- bentukan karakter mandiri yang dikembangkan di Pondok Pesantren Islamic Studies Center Aswaja Lintang Songo yang pada umumnya menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis komunitas yang berangkat dari realitas alam dan kehidupan. Bentuk-bentuk karakter mandiri yang dikembangkan adalah disiplin dan bersungguh-sungguh, kemandirian dan kerja keras, religius, kebersamaan, peduli, kasih sayang, kesederhanaan, hormat, santun, tanggung jawab, jujur, dan ikhlas. Kesemuanya terbentuk dalam program-program pendidikan dan praktik pertanian (agriculture) yang dilaksanakan di pondok pesantren tersebut. Kata Kunci: karakter, mandiri, pertanian, dan pesantren aswaja SHAPING AUTONOMOUS CHARACTER THROUGH AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION AT PONDOK PESANTREN ISLAMIC STUDIES CENTER ASWAJA LINTANG SONGO PIYUNGAN BANTUL YOGYAKARTA Abstract: this research aims at describing the shaping of autonomous character through agricultural education at Pondok Pesantren Islamic Studies Center Aswaja Lintang Songo Piyungan Bantul Yogyakarta. This is a qualitative study in the form of a case study. Data collection was conducted through observation, interview, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the interactive analysis technique. The findings show that there are five principles of shaping the autonomous character developed at Pondok Pesantren Islamic Studies Center Aswaja Lintang Songo which generally use community-based learning rooted from the reality of nature and life. The forms of autonomous characters developed are discipline, seriousness, autonomy and hard work, religiosity, togetherness, care, love, modesty, respect, politeness, responsibility, honesty, and sincerity. All of these are shaped in the education programs and agricultural practices carried out in the pondok pesantren. Keywords: character, autonomous, agriculture, and pesantren aswaja

Abstract

This article aims to study the religious behavior of elderly studentsin Islamic boardingschool of Sepuh Payaman Magelang. analysis in this study is through the fivedimensions; religious belief (ideological), religious practice (ritualistic), religious knowledge (intellectual), religious appreciation (experiential), and experience religion (consequential). The results of this study showed that the ideological dimension embodied in the belief of the pillars of faith in the form of full submission to God as the One single, unified set of all creatures on lafadz tahlil "laa ilaha illa Allah". Second, ritualistic dimension embodied in the practice of religious activities both mahdloh and ghairu mahdlah. Third, Intellectual manifests in learning activities and assessment of students using the book of al-ibriz li Ma'rifah Tafsir al-Qur'an al-Aziz by KH. Bisri Mustafa. The method of the study is "eavesdrop" or listening carefully. Various activities undertaken by the elderly students is serveas a provisioninthe hereafter. Fourth, experiential dimensions embodied in belief and consciousness that hereafter is is the goal of this life. Fifth,consequential dimension manifests in elderly students that all daily activities are alwayssupervised by God and recorded by the angels.
