Abstract

There are enormous of natural resources as alternative electrical energy to be developed in Bengkulu province. It’s located in west coast of Sumatera Island and faces on Indian Ocean make Bengkulu province abundant wind energy. Piezoelectric is a material that produces electrical while the pressure applied on the surface. In this research, a preliminary study of characteristic of piezoelectric was carried out to produce electrical from mechanical energy generated from wind. The output voltage from some piezoelectric configurations was measured. Furthermore, a prototype of wind energy conversion to electrical energy was enlarged to search piezoelectric characteristic too. The measurement results show that the series piezoelectric configuration produces a higher electric voltage than the parallel arrangement. The greater the mechanical energy received on the piezoelectric surface, the higher the electric voltage generated by the piezoelectric. Four piezoelectric in series configuration produce 3.5 volts of voltage while 3.6 joules mechanical energy applied on their’s surfaces. By using the prototype of wind energy conversion, it is found that the wind velocity influence the obtained of voltage. There is a linear relationship between wind speed and the voltage generated.

Abstract

Bengkulu city has abundant solar energy that has not yet been utilized to optimize. Bengkulu people, especially the Muara Bangkahulu district, do not yet have the skills and knowledge to use solar panels to meet their daily electricity needs. In this activity, the workshop was carried out on the use and solar panel installation technique that could be used as an alternative source of electricity. Participants were the residents of RT.20/01, Pematang Gubernur sub-district, Muara Bangkahulu district, Bengkulu City. The workshop consisted of three main parts; they were filling out the questionnaire, presentation, and practice of installing a solar panel. The questionnaire was given at the time before and after the material and practice were done. Some household products that are using solar energy were delivered during the presentation. The next step was the installation practice of solar panels and their components. The questionnaire result shows that participants are attracted to use the solar panel as alternative electric energy. In addition, the community who initially has a limitation of knowledge to install a solar panel, after the workshop is carried out, they have the skill for that installation.

Abstract

Based on a C8051F006 SoC (system on-a-chip), a simple and low cost quasi-static capacitance-voltage (C-V) meter was designed and developed to obtain C-V characteristics of semiconductor devices. The developed C-V meter consists of a capacitance meter, a programmable voltage source, a C8051F006 SoC-based slave controller, and a personal computer (PC) as a master controller. The communication between the master and slave controllers is facilitated by the RS 232 serial communication. The accuracy of the C-V meter was guaranteed by the calibration functions, which are employed by the program in the PC and obtained through the calibration processes of analog to digital converter (ADC), digital to analog converters (DACs) of the C8051F006 SoC, and the programmable voltage source. Examining 33-pF and 1000-pF capacitors as well three different p-n junction diodes, it was found that the capacitances of common capacitors are in the range of specified values and typical C-V curves of p-n junction diodes are achieved.

Abstract

Penggunaan sabun dan air ataupun cairan pembersih tangan yang mengandung minimal  60 % alkohol mampu membunuh virus dan kuman. Oleh karena itu, rutin mencuci tangan menjadi salah satu protokol kesehatan yang diterapkan terutama pada masa pandemi COVID-19 dengan tujuan mengurangi penyebaran virus corona. Namun, sistem pencuci tangan yang tersedia terutama di fasilitas umum masih sangat terbatas dan membutuhkan kontak tangan agar sistem beroperasi. Oleh karena itu, pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menyediakan peralatan pencuci tangan less hand touch yang ditempatkan pada fasilitas umum seperti kantor lurah, puskesmas dan masjid. Diharapkan dengan kegiatan ini dapat membantu masyarakat sekitar dalam mengurangi penyebaran virus corona. Pada tulisan ini diterangkan mekanisme pembuatan peralatan pencuci tangan less hand touch dan penyerahan sistem untuk digunakan di beberapa fasilitas umum. Peralatan less hand touch yang dibuat terdiri dari pencuci tangan otomatis, hand sanitizer otomatis dan pencuci tangan berbasis sistem pedal. Sistem pencuci tangan otomatis dibuat dengan memanfaatkan sensor ultrasonik dan arduino sebagai pengendali sistem. Sedangkan pencuci tangan berbasis pedal dengan memanfaatkan kaki pengguna sebagai kontrol pada proses mencuci tangan. Pembuatan peralatan ini dibagi menjadi 2 tahap, yaitu pembuatan bagian hardware dan bagian software. Peralatan yang telah dibuat selanjutnya ditempatkan pada fasilitas umum sebagai upaya pencegahan penyebaran COVID-19. Penyerahan sistem pencuci tangan less hand touch siap pakai pada partisipan melibatkan beberapa partisipan dari berupa unsur kelurahan, unsur pengelola puskesmas dan pengurus masjid. Kemudian  juga dilakukan pelatihan penggunaan dan perawatan sistem yang diberikan kepada penanggung jawab yang ditunjuk oleh partisipan pada setiap unsur. Lebih lanjut, penyerahan peralatan ini dapat mendukung upaya yang dilakukan oleh pengelola fasilitas umum dalam menjalankan himbauan pemerintah terutama selama pandemic COVID-19.
