Abstract

Various social changes were taken place in Banyumas, as in other regions. The changes directly or indirectly affected to the smallest unit of society, the family. There was a shifting in the values believed and practiced by the family due to the changes, including the value of children. Regarding on these condition, the paper has purposed to explore parents' worldviews on children's value in Banyumas. The children's value is the utility of children to parents or the needs that able to be fulfilled by children for parents. Employing a qualitative approach, the paper attempted to explore the value of children for parents in rural Banyumas. Observation, interview and documentation techniques were used to collect the data. There were twenty-eight informants as the source of primary data. Purposive technique was used to determine of informants. Triangulation technique was used to validate the data. Data analysis was conducted interactively. The study found that the value of children for parents in rural Banyumas was dominated by economic value. The parents placed children as material assets and put their children's in school to have quality improvement. Parents did not differentiate between girls and boys. It was a reflection of the egalitarian attitude of Banyumas culture. This research found that there has been a displacement in the allocation of needs, it was a displacement from costs allocation for food to costs allocation for children's education.

Abstract

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) group is a group that is marginalized due to issues of gender and sexuality. The LGBT community is often stigmatized as immoral and deviant, considered the source of HIV/AIDS, contrary to religion, as a disease, and not by state ideology. Society's knowledge of heteronormative gender and sexuality makes the LGBT group abnormal. The media can construct or deconstruct what people believe to be true. This study intends to explain how the representation of LGBT groups in news coverage in the mass media. In particular, the news in the online media Detik.com. Detik.com was chosen because it is one of the pioneers of internet-based mass media and always occupies Indonesia's top ten most popular websites. This research used Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis method, focusing on social structure, class, and social relations. Norman Fairclough presents three dimensions of analysis: text analysis, discourse practice, and sociocultural practice. The study results show Detik.com reporting on LGBT issues dominates in putting LGBT groups in a corner. The LGBT group is still represented as "deviant" and prone to discrimination.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Film merupakan salah satu dari sekian bentuk media massa yang mampu memberikan nilai hiburan pada masyarakat disaat kepenatan aktifitas masyarakat dalam menjalani rutinitas kehidupan sehari-hari. Perkembangan film itu sendiri juga tidak lepas dari perkembangan budaya masyarakat yang berlaku dibelakangnya. Salah satu film yang menggambarkan salah satu realitas sosial yaitu rasisme adalah film BlacKkKlansman. Isu rasisme menjadi tema yang paling sering diproduksi oleh industri film terbesar dunia yaitu Hollywood. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan teknik analisis isi. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti meneliti secara syntactical units terdiri dari simbol-simbol yang muncul, dalam penelitian ini adalah simbol kekerasan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bagaimana perilaku kaum kulit putih di dalam Film BlacKkKlansman yang melakukan tindakan diskriminasi dan pembedaan baik secara verbal dan nonverbal berdasarkan ciri – ciri fisik yang berbeda antara kaum kulit putih dan kaum kulit hitam. Hasilnya kategori rasisme verbal menjadi kategori dengan frekuensi terbanyak. Penyumbang terbanyak tindakan rasisme dari dua kategori adalah tokoh laki – laki yang dalam film ini karena mendapatkan screen time lebih banyak dari tokoh perempuan. Kata Kunci: Analisis Isi, Film BlacKkKlansman, Rasisme ABSTRACT Film is one of the many forms of mass media that can provide entertainment value to the community when people are tired of their activities in carrying out their daily life routines. The movie's development is also inseparable from the development of the prevailing culture of the society behind it. One of the movies that depicts one of the social realities, namely racism, is the movie BlacKkKlansman. The issue of racism is the theme most often produced by the world's largest film industry, Hollywood. This research uses quantitative methods with content analysis techniques. In this study researchers examined syntactical units consisting of symbols that appear, in this study are symbols of violence. The results of this study show how the behavior of white people in the BlacKkKlansman film who commit acts of discrimination and distinction both verbally and nonverbally based on different physical characteristics between white people and black people. The result is that the category of verbal racism is the category with the highest frequency. The biggest contributor to racism from two categories is the male character in this movie because he gets more screen time than the female character. Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi menjadi objek kajian sosiologi yang sangat menarik. Perkembangan sepeda motor, celaka dan krisis energi, bila ditinjau dari perspektif sosiologi, telah berkembang dengan pesat dan menjadi tantangan di masyarakat. Sejak penemuan mesin uap oleh James Watt, perkembangan teknologi industri sudah sedemikian pesatnya. Salah satu perkembangan teknologi yang sangat pesat adalah sepeda motor. Sepeda motor saat ini sudah berbeda jauh dengan sepeda motor tempo dulu, baik di perkotaaan atau perdesaan. Tulisan ini mencoba memahami dan membandingkan dengan menggunakan bahan dari berbagai media massa, untuk melihat tingkat pemakai sepeda motor serta perkembangan budayanya di Indonesia, terutama setelah tahun 2000. Pertama-tama, tulisan ini akan melihat perkembangan sepeda motor yang ada di Indonesia. Kedua, sepeda motor sebagai pilihan yang delimatis. Ketiga, kepadatan dan krisis energi sebuah refleksi tentang teknologi. Sebagai akhir dari tulisan ini nantinya bagaimana melihat budaya pemakai sepeda motor dalam hidup keseharian. Serta apa dampak yang berkepanjangan dalam penggunaan teknologi sepeda motor dan sebuah refleksi apa akan keberadaan teknologi ketika mengalami celaka dan krisis energi yang berkepanjanagan bagi masyarakat. Abstract

Proklim atau program kampung iklim di Desa Pandak Kecamatan Baturraden Kabupaten Banyumas terus digencarkan. Hal ini dilakukan guna menunjang proyeksi Desa Pandak sebagai Desa Wisata di Banyumas. Peran Pemerintah Desa sebagai pihak internal desa dalam hal ini sangat penting sebagai pemantik dan penanggungjawab terlaksananya Proklim dan kesuksesan proyeksi Desa Wisata Pandak. Tujuan tulisan ini ialah mengungkapkan bagaimana keterhubungan Proklim dan potensi wisata yang ada di Desa Pandak serta manfaatnya demi kemajuan Desa Pandak sebagai Desa Wisata. Menggunakan metode kualitatif, tulisan ini mengambil data melalui cara observasi dan wawancara mendalam. Hasil dari penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa Pemerintah Desa Pandak berperan aktif untuk mewujudkan Desa Pandak sebagai Desa Wisata yang sadar akan kelestarian lingkungan. Partisipasi Masyarakat menjadi komponen yang tak kalah penting. Sebab terlaksananya proklim maupun suksesnya proyeksi Desa Wisata Pandak bergantung pada partisipasi masyarakatnya.  Dua hal tersebut tidak dapat dipisahkan, keduanya saling mendukung satu sama lain.
