Abstract

One of the plants that is well known in the community and is used as a traditional medicine is patchouli (Pogostemon cablin Benth.). It contains essential oils, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, glycosides, terpenoids and steroids. The alcohol content, such as patchouli alcohol and its derivatives, phenol, and a group of terpenoids in patchouli oil has antibacterial activity. The aim at this research to determine the total phenolic condition the ethanol extract from the patchouli leaves. The extract obtained was analyzed ist content using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The measurements were done at the maximum wavelength of 662,85 nm. The result showed that the total phenolic in patchouli leave is 327,84 mgGAE /gram of extract.

Abstract

Sunlight contains UV rays that adversely affect the skin. These adverse effects can be minimized by the use of UV protective materials, both natural and synthetic. Soursop fruit (Annona muricata L.) has a high content of polyphenol compounds, some vitamins such as vitamin C, B1 and B2. This study aims to determine the activity of UV light protection on soursop juice (Annona muricata L.) by using Sun Protection Factor (SPF) calculation. The measurement of SPF values using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method in the wavelength range from 290-320 nm. The results showed that soursop juice (Annona muricata L.) had UV light protection activity at 1% concentration of 5,188, 3% concentration of 12.242 and 5% concentration of 17,247. Abstract

Flavonoids are natural phenolic compounds found in almost all plants that have potential as antioxidants. Based on previous research, stating that black soybeans contain compounds of flavonoids. This analysis aims to establish the levels of total flavonoids on ethanol extract of black soybean hydrolyzed. Determination of total flavonoid levels of ethanol extract of black soybean hydrolyzed has been made with UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. Black soybean hydrolyzed using HCl and extracted using ethanol 70%. The extracts obtained were analyzed qualitative by the method of coloring reaction and quantitative analysis using UV-Vis spectrophotometer, where quercetin is used as a reference standard. Measurements were performed at maximum wavelength of 444.45 nm. The research showed the average level of total flavonoids is 11.83 mgQE / g extract or 1,163 %. In conclusion extract of black soybean hydrolyzed rich of total flavonoids, and it is related to the activity as antioxidant.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak Acalypha indica  dan tanaman Imperata cylindrica terhadap kadar glukosa mencit (Mus musculus L) hiperglikemia. Penelitian ini menggunakan mencit jantan strain ICR sebanyak 40 ekor yang dibagi dalam 8 kelompok perlakuan, yaitu kelompok mencit normal, kelompok mencit hiperglikemia, dan kelompok mencit dengan pemberian ekstrak methanol Acalypha indica  dan tanaman Imperata cylindrical pada masing-masing dosis 150 dan 250 mg/Kg bb. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun Acalypha indicadan tanaman Imperata cylindrica  menunjukkan penurunan kadar glukosa darah mencit sebesar 47-49%. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah adanya efektivitas ekstrak methanol Acalypha indica  dan tanaman Imperata cylindrical berpengaruh terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah pada mencit hiperglikemia. Kata Kunci: Acalypha Indica,Imperata Cylindrical,Kadar Glukosa  This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the extract of Acalypha indica and plant Imperata cylindrica on glucose levels of mice (Mus musculus L) hyperglycemia. This study used 40 male ICR strain male mice which were divided into 8 treatment groups, namely normal mice group, hyperglycemia mice group, and mice group by giving methanol extract Acalypha indica and Imperata cylindrical plants at each dose of 150 and 250 mg / Kg bb. The results showed that the extract of the leaves of Acalypha indica and Imperata cylindrica plants showed a decrease in blood glucose levels of mice by 47-49%. The conclusion of this research is the effectiveness of the methanol extract of Acalypha indica and the Imperata cylindrical plant influences the decrease in blood glucose levels in hyperglycemia mice.Keywords: Acalypha Indica, Cylindrical Imperata, Glucose Level
