Abstract

This study aimed to develop guided discovery learning-based android learning media to improve critical thinking skills. The developed biology learning media was applied to the nervous system material. The discussion of the physiology of the nervous system is one of the difficult biological materials to understand because it includes the organization and structure of neurons and their functions, ion pump mechanisms when neurons are at rest, action potential mechanisms, mechanisms for neurons to communicate with other cells in the synapses, and organization of the nervous system. This study used research and development (RD) with a method developed by Thiagarajan, namely the 4D model with stages: define, design, develop and disseminate. The stages of this study are limited to the development stage. The results showed that the media was feasible with media, language, and a material expert validation of   3.5, 3.8, and 3.3, respectively.

Abstract

The use of chemical medicine in livestock soared. The price of expensive chemical medicine does not discourage people from turning to herbal medicines. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of public knowledge of ethnoveterinary pharmacology and diversity of herbal medicines in the village of Sukarame. This research is quantitative descriptive. Data was collected through observation, semi-structured interviews and identification. The sample in this study was the people in Sukarame village and the types of herbal medicines in Sukarame village. Data from the community was obtained through interviews and observations with the Purposive Sampling technique and data on the type of ethnoverinary obtained from identification. The results showed that public knowledge about ethnoveterinary pharmacology obtained an average score of 55%. The informants who provided data were men at 71% of the total informants. The types of herbal medicines used by the public are Zingiber officinale, Curcuma domestica, Physalis angulata, Piper betle.

Abstract

Soybeans (Glycine max) are among the seeds that contain the highest protein of many types of nuts. Gamasugen irradiated soybeans are soybeans that can be relied on to overcome protein deficiency in the diet of the Indonesian people. The purpose of this activity is to develop various Gamasugen irradiated soybean preparations into products that can be used by the wider community in general and the community of RW 01 in particular. RW 01 on Jl. Pemuda Rawamangun is a densely populated area located in front of the Universitas Neger Jakarta. This community empowerment program was carried out on September 12, 2020, with the limited number of participants, due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. The method used is the delivery of material using banners, distributing brochures, and bringing the processed Gamasugen soybean products and uploading them on You Tube. Even though with the limited conditions, the training went well. Based on results of the pre-test and post-test, it appears that there was an increase in public, the average value of the pre-test was 65 to 89 during the post-test.The result of this program showed an increase in the knowledge and skills of RW 01 community to utilize the potential of soybeans as a highly nutritious processed food from Gamasugen soybeans. Abstrak Kedelai (Glycine max) termasuk biji-bijian yang mengandung protein paling tinggi dari banyak macam jenis kacang. Kedelai iradiasi Gamasugen merupakan kedelai yang dapat diandalkan untuk mengatasi kekurangan protein dalam menu makanan rakyat Indonesia. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk mengembangkan berbagai olahan kedelai iradiasi Gamasugen menjadi produk yang dapat dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat luas umumnya dan masyarakat RW 01 khususnya. RW. 01 di Jl. Pemuda Rawamangun merupakan kawasan lokasi padat penduduk yang terletak di depan kampus Universitas Negeri JakartaProgram Pengabdian Masyarakat ini dilakukan pada tanggal 12 September 2020, dengan jumlah peserta yang terbatas, karena adanya wabah pandemic Covid-19. Metode yang dilakukan adalah penyampaian materi dengan menggunakan banner, menyebarkan brosur, membawa hasil-hasil produk olahan kedelai Gamasugen dan mengupload di You Tube. Metode yang dilakukan adalah penyampaian materi dengan menggunakan banner, menyebarkan brosur, serta membawa hasil-hasil produk olahan kedelai Gamasugen dan mengupload di you tube. Walaupun dengan kondisi yang terbatas, pelatihan berjalan lancar. Berdasarkan hasil pre test dan pos tes tampak terjadi peningkatan pemahaman dan pengetahuan masyarakat, nilai rata-rata pre test 65 menjadi 89 pada saat post test. Hasil dari program ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat RW. 01 untuk memanfaatkan potensi kedelai sebagai bahan pangan olahan yang bergizi tinggi dari kedelai Gamasugen.

Abstract

Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a learning model that encourages students to solve problems. At the same time, intrapersonal intelligence is a skill needed by students in solving problems so that students can solve problems well. This research aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and intrapersonal intelligence on high school students' problem-solving skills. The method used was an experiment with a quasi-experimental research type and a 2x2 factorial design—multistage random sampling sample selection technique. All students of class IX reach the population at SMAN 1 Baros. The target population for all class IX of SMAN 1 Baros is 130 students. The research sample consisted of 2 classes IX for the experimental class and two classes IX for the Control class, each of which totaled 65 students. The instrument for the ability to solve problems in the form of description questions consists of 11 items and intrapersonal intelligence in a questionnaire totaling 25 statements. Data analysis and hypothesis testing using two-way ANOVA with the help of the SPSS 21.0 software program. The results showed that the PBL model and intrapersonal intelligence significantly affected problem-solving skills with a sig < 0.05. The data analysis conclusion shows that there is an influence of the PBL model and the intrapersonal intelligence of high school students on the material of the human reproductive system.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze gender-based biological concepts understanding at secondary school students of bilingual programs. 6 (sixth) problems, according to Bloom's taxonomy categorization, were designed consisted of: understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating. The topics included cell, classification of the organism, ecology, plant anatomy and physiology, and human anatomy and physiology. Samples were 47 students from grade nine (secondary school) from one of bilingual secondary schools in Jakarta, Indonesia. Data obtained were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The analysis showed that the average value of the concept comprehension test was 55.07, which was below the Minimum Criteria of Completeness score of 73. The average value of male students was 57.29, and the average value of female students was 52.85. There was no significant difference between the learning outcomes of male and female students. Some male students have higher achievements because they have more engagement in science than others. Students' low ability to understand the biology concept makes them unable to perform their competency at the stages of applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating. Overall, data showed that the average level of understanding of biological concepts for secondary school of bilingual programs still tends to be low and needs to be continuously improved in the learning process. Hopefully, further studies can be conducted to develop the most appropriate learning method to improve biological concepts.

Abstract

This research is a research development that aims to develop biology learning media in the form of an android learning application. This study uses research and development (R&D) with a method developed by Thiagarajan, namely the 4D model with stages: define, design, develop and disseminate, the stages of this study are limited to the development stage. Products that have been developed are then validated by experts in their fields. The results showed that respiradroid learning media had an average of 3, 31 in aspects of learning media. The validation results obtained from media and material experts prove that respiradroid media developed are suitable for use in the learning process. Media respiradroid learning has the advantage that is, a learning media that is flexible means that it can be used anywhere, easy to install, easy to find material content with student stimulus for thinking. It is expected to improve students' higher-order thinking skills in the concept of respiration.

Abstract

Abstract The pandemic that has occurred since March 2020 has brought various changes, one of which is in the world of education. Teachers are required to be able to design learning that can improve students' creativity and critical thinking skills in solving various problems. STEAM-based learning with simple media from used cooking waste and used crayons can be an alternative. Unfortunately, the knowledge and skills of teachers are still not optimal in managing this kind of learning. Based on this description, a solution is offered in the form of training on the use of used cooking oil and crayons as a STEAM-based learning medium for East Jakarta High School teachers. The activity was carried out starting in July 2021 with activity partners, namely 36 East Jakarta Biology MGMP teachers. Activities are carried out in three stages and evaluations are carried out on plans, processes, activities, and programs. Indicators of success are measured by increasing knowledge through the gain of pretest and posttest scores and Learning Plans with the STEAM approach. The results of the process analysis show that the activity went smoothly and was attended by more than 30 people who were invited. Activity analysis used pre and posttest values and N-Gain values which indicated the success of the activity. Based on the analysis, it can be seen an increase in the average score at the posttest (60.56) compared to the pretest (41.94) with an N-Gain value of 18.61. In addition, participants have also made STEAM-based Learning Plans. Based on this, it is known that there is an increase in participants' knowledge about the use of used cooking waste and used crayons as an alternative STEM-based learning media that is applied in student learning plans. Abstrak Pandemi yang terjadi sejak Maret 2020 membawa berbagai perubahan, salah satunya dalam dunia pendidikan. Guru dituntut untuk dapat mendesain pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kreativitas dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam memecahkan berbagai permasalahan. Pembelajaran berbasis STEAM dengan media sederhana dari limbah jelantah dan krayon bekas dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif. Sayangnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru masih belum optimal dalam pengelolaan pembelajaran seperti ini. Berdasarkan uraian tersebut ditawarkan solusi berupa pelatihan pemanfaatan limbah minyak jelantah dan krayon bekas sebagai media pembelajaran berbasis STEAM bagi guru SMA Jakarta Timur. Kegiatan dilaksanakan mulai Juli 2021 dengan mitra kegiatan yakni 36 orang guru MGMP Biologi Jakarta Timur. Kegiatan dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan dan evaluasi dilaksanakan terhadap rencana, proses, kegiatan dan program. Indikator keberhasilan diukur dengan peningkatan pengetahuan melalui gain skor pretest dan posttest, dan Rencana Pembelajaran dengan pendekatan STEAM. Hasil analisis proses memperlihatkan kegiatan berjalan lancar dan diikuti oleh lebih dari 30 orang yang diundang. Analisis kegiatan digunakan nilai pre dan post test serta nilai N-Gain yang mengindikasikan keberhasilan kegiatan. Berdasarkan analisis terlihat peningkatan rata- rata nilai pada posttest (60,56) dibanding pretest (41,94) dengan nilai N-Gain sebesar 18,61. Selain itu, peserta juga telah membuat Renon.,cana Pembelajaran berbasis STEAM. Berdasarkan hal tersebut diketahui bahwa terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan peserta mengenai pemanfaatan limbah jelantah dan krayon bekas sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran berbasis STEM yang diaplikasikan dalam rencana pembelajaran siswa.

Abstract

Abstract The learning process in schools is the best public policy tool as an effort to increase students' knowledge and skills. This Community Service (PkM) aims to improve the soft-skill abilities of junior high school students in Bekasi Regency, West Java, so that students recognize entrepreneurship as early as possible and can also increase student interest in entrepreneurship, improve skills and entrepreneurial spirit and integrate entrepreneurship education into learning materials, so that entrepreneurship education is maximally integrated and has an effective influence on students. This activity was carried out at the Ulil Albab Integrated Islamic School Foundation. This activity is carried out in the form of training and introduction to entrepreneurship (entrepreneurs), then followed by training on making various flavors of soyghurt for students. The PkM method is carried out through lectures, discussions, questions and answers and direct practice on the material provided. This activity begins with the implementation of a pretest and at the end of the training a posttest is carried out as an indicator of the success of the activity. Furthermore, given exposure to entrepreneurship material, biotechnology and superior local soybeans irradiated by Gamasugen as well as counseling on the manufacture of various flavors of soyghurt with simple techniques. Based on the results of the pretest and posttest, there was an increase in students' understanding and knowledge, the average value of the pretest was 47.03 to 80.71 at the posttest. The results of this test showed an increase of 71.60%. Based on the results of this program, it shows that there is an increase in students' entrepreneurial knowledge and skills in making various flavored soyghurts from Gamasugen's local soybeans. Abstrak Proses pembelajaran di sekolah merupakan alat kebijakan publik terbaik sebagai upaya peningkatan pengetahuan dan skill siswa. Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan soft-skill siswa-siswi Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) se Kabupaten Bekasi Provinsi Jawa Barat, sehingga siswa mengenal kewirausahaan (entrepreneur) sedini mungkin dan juga dapat meningkatkan minat siswa terhadap kewirausahaan, meningkatkan keterampilan dan jiwa wirausaha serta mengintegrasikan pendidikan entrepreneur ke dalam materi-materi pembelajaran, agar pendidikan entrepreneur terintegrasi dengan maksimal dan mempunyai pengaruh efektif terhadap siswa. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Yayasan Sekolah Islam Terpadu (SIT) Ulil Albab. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dalam bentuk pelatihan dan pengenalan tentang kewirausahaan (entrepreneur), kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan pembuatan soyghurt aneka rasa bagi siswa-siswi. Metode pada PkM ini dilaksanakan melalui paparan materi (ceramah), diskusi, tanya jawab dan praktek langsung terhadap materi yang diberikan. Kegiatan ini diawali dengan pelaksanaan pretest dan pada akhir pelatihan dilaksanakan posttest sebagai indikator keberhasilan kegiatan. Selanjutnya diberikan paparan materi kewirausahaan, bioteknologi dan kedelai lokal unggul iradiasi Gamasugen serta penyuluhan tentang pembuatan soyghurt (susu kedelai fermentasi) aneka rasa dengan teknik yang sederhana. Berdasarkan hasil pretest dan postest tampak terjadi peningkatan pemahaman dan pengetahuan siswa, nilai rata-rata pretest 47,03 menjadi 80,71 pada saat postest. Hasil test ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan sebesar 71,60%. Berdasarkan hasil dari program ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan kewirausahaan siswa dan keterampilan membuat soyghurt aneka rasa dari kedelai lokal Gamasugen.
