Abstract

This research aims to see the development of the electronic journal collection at Puslata UT. This research used qualitative approach with descriptive method. Reviews these results indicate that Puslata UT has run a series of activities for the development of the electronic journal collection, but in fact the use of electronic journals by the academic society is very low. It happened because some temporary policies were not maximized and less inappropriate to fulfill information needs of academic society. Electronic journal more needed for the accreditation process and the study by researcher at UT center. The results of this research shows that PUSLATAUT should make a written policy or guidelines of the development of the electronic journal collection, and create a strategic plan so that electronic journals can reach some academic societies in some areas.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas mengenai peran media sosial terhadap perilaku informasi mahasiswa dalam menyikapi isu kesehatan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui survei. Survei dilakukan kepada mahasiswa Program Studi Ilmu Perpustakaan Universitas Indonesia angkatan 2016 yang telah mengikuti mata kuliah literasi informasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa peran media sosial dapat mempengaruhi perilaku informasi mahasiswa. Hampir seluruh mahasiswa dapat memenuhi kebutuhan informasinya, membedakan informasi asli dengan informasi hoaks pada media sosial, dan mahasiswa tidak langsung menyebarkan informasi sebelum membaca dengan teliti dan keseluruhan isi dari informasi tersebut. Sebagian besar mahasiswa juga memeriksa sumber informasi yang digunakan. Temuan yang menarik ialah mahasiswa lebih memilih mengunggah opini terkait informasi yang dibaca melalui akun pribadi media sosial yang dimiliki dibanding memberikan opini pada bagian kolom komentar.  Kata kunci: informasi, perilaku informasi, media sosial, mahasiswa, isu kesehatanAbstract This article discusses the role of social media towards library and information science (LIS) students’ information behaviour in responding health issues. This is a quantitative study with survey method to collect the data. The survey was distributed to LIS students of Universitas Indonesia in March 2020. The result shows that social media affects students’ information behaviour. The finding also shows that almost all of the students could fulfil their information needs and could distinguish original information and hoaxes on social media, and students did not directly disseminate the information before reading the whole content of the information carefully. Most of the students also checked the information source being used. There is an interesting finding that students preferred to upload personal opinion related to the information they read through their personal social media account than to give opinion on comment box.  Keywords: information, information behavior, social media, student, health issues

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas minat baca siswa sekolah dasar siswa kelas dua di Sekolah Dasar Negeri Anyelir 1 Depok Baru, Kota Depok, Jawa Barat. Adanya kebiasaan membaca pada siswa Sekolah Dasar di Kota Depok juga menjadikan kota ini ramah terhadap anak-anak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini, menggambarkan minat baca siswa kelas dua dengan fase usia 8 tahun di Sekolah Dasar Negeri (SDN) Anyelir 1 Depok Baru, Depok, Jawa Barat. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah survei dan observasi. Pemilihan sampel dilakukan dengan cara total sampling dimana seluruh siswa kelas 2 Sekolah Dasar Negeri Anyelir 1 Depok Baru berjumlah 152 siswa menjadi responden penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Minat baca siswa kelas 2 Sekolah Dasar Negeri Anyelir 1 Depok Baru tergolong masih rendah, hal ini terlihat dari hasil survei yang dilakukan kepada seluruh siswa kelas 2 yang menunjukkan secara keseluruhan tidak lebih dari 55% siswa yang melakukan kegiatan membaca di waktu luang. Kegiatan membaca di waktu luang juga tidak secara otomatis dilakukan oleh siswa dan bukan merupakan ciri khas ku. Namun demikian, 55% siswa menyatakan bahwa membaca merupakan kegiatan yang telah dilaksanakan sejak dahulu. Hal ini merupakan tantangan bagi guru dan orang tua untuk mendekatkan anak pada bahan bacaan, karena minat baca tidak dapat datang sendirinya pada diri anak.

Abstract

Introduction. @literarybase is an autobase account focusing on literacy and literature on Twitter. This article discusses the role of @literarybase in increasing the reading interest of its followers based on principles of reading interest development. Data Collection Methods. This study used a quantitative approach with survey method as the data collection technique involving 288 followers of @literarybase account. Data Analysis. The data was analyzed using a descriptive analysis method. Results and Discussion. The results showed that the @literarybase account played a significant role as a place to increase followers' reading interest. In general, the @literarybase account has applied the principles of reading interest development framework. Conclusion. Based on the findings, the application of the principle of teaching interest self-regulation strategies on the @literarybase account is still not as effective as the other three on reading interest development principles.In managing the account, the @literarybase, more interactivediscussions with their followers to support activities related to literacy and literature.

Abstract

This research describes new trends of archivist’s roles in the Archives of University of Indonesia. Technological, social and educational development realm have been influencing these new roles. Collaboration and communication should take place between archivist, librarian and researcher for any different roles as records manager, educator and researcher. Apart from his/ her own expertise in archival principles, archivist should have more skills and specialties in accordance with technological and social development. This research aims to identify the archivist’s roles in an university archives, in this case the Archives of University of Indonesia. This is a qualitative research. The data is collected by observing, interview and literature studies. The informants are choosen by applying purpossive sampling method that include among others the chairwoman and the qualified archivists of the archives. The result shows that the evolving roles of the archivist could develop the archives’ achievement in turn. These new roles are including digital archivist, researcher and educator. Apart from those, archivist should maintain his/ her roles as past guardian and librarian-archivist.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dalam bidang ilmu perpustakaan dan kearsipan yang berupaya mengidentifikasi langkah-langkah serta pemahaman staf kantor arsip di kelurahan kota Depok dalam upaya kesiagaan menghadapi bencana. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi pemahaman staf kantor arsip kelurahan beserta langkah-langkah apa saja yang telah diupayakan dalam rangka kesiagaan menghadapi bencana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketiga kelurahan di Depok belum optimal dalam kesiagaan menghadapi bencana. Diharapkan penelitian ini dapat memberikan masukan bagi para pemangku kebijakan, khususnya pemerintah kota Depok dalam mendukung terciptanya lingkungan kerja yang siaga terhadap bencana melalui suatu program kesiagaan menghadapi bencana di kantor arsip kelurahan yang digagas oleh tim penelitian.
