Abstract

Mastery of vocabulary is one of the obstacles that generally facing students in learning English. Mengingat guru sebagai fasilitator untuk siswa didiknya, maka seorang guru diharapkan dapat memilih media pembelajaran yang sesuai untuk anak sekolah dasar. Considering the teacher as a facilitator for student protege, then a teacher is expected to choose the appropriate learning media for primary school children. Vocabulary is basic knowledge to be able to learn all four language skills in English. The use of flash media cards at the elementary school level students can affect their memory, because the elementary school level students will easily remember to understand the vocabulary by using the media image. Thus the influence of media flash cards, would make students more active in the enrichment of vocabulary.

Abstract

Perpustakaan merupakan suatu tempat untuk menyimpan koleksi buku-buku dan bahan pustaka seperti koran, bibliografi serta bahan grafis seperti film, slide, piringan hitam yang berisikan informasi untuk kebutuhan belajar dan penelitian. Perpustakaan sebagai lembaga yang mengelola sumber informasi semestinya menduduki posisi kunci dalam proses pendidikan dan pelatihan yang ada, baik di lingkungan sekolah, luar sekolah, dunia kerja, maupun masyarakat pada umumnya. Perpustakaan sekolah berfungsi (1) sebagai pusat kegiatan belajar-mengajar untuk mencapai tujuan pendidikan seperti tercantum dalam kurikulum sekolah; (2) sebagai pusat penelitian sederhana yang memungkinkan para siswa mengembangkan kreativitas dan imajinasinya; dan (3) sebagai pusat kegiatan membaca buku yang bersifat rekreatif dan mengisi waktu luang hal tersebut tertuang dalam Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Nomor 0103/O/1981. Pembelajaran bermutu adalah serangkaian kegiatan pembelajaran yang memungkinkan peserta didik dapat belajar dengan mudah, antusias dan menyenangkan, serta dapat mencapai tujuan pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. Desain pembelajaran merupakan alat yang dapat membantu guru dalam melaksanakan kegiatan pembelajaran secara bermutu dan efisien. Sebagai desainer inaupun sebagai pengelola/pelaksana pembelajaran, guru perlu memiliki pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam menyusun desain pembelajaran

Abstract

Dody Wahyudi Purnama, The Effects of Learning Media and Motivation toward the Students’ Reading Ability at Private Colleges in Subang Regency. The aim of the research is to know the effects of learning media and motivation towards students’ reading ability at private colleges in Subang regency. The total sample constitutes 50 students. The technique of collecting data used questionnaires and reading test by multiple choice with 20-item instrument. The methodology used is experiment research to know the effects of independent variables towards dependent variable. The statistic test used descriptive statistics and Tukey comparisons. The findings are 1). There is significant effects of learning media towards students’ reading ability at private collages in Subang regency, proved by the significance 0.000<0.05 and Fo = 102,914. The average of the students’ reading ability with high motivation is greater than that of with low motivation. The mean of the experiment class equals 81.42 and conventional class equals to 68.76. 2). There is effect of motivation towards students’ reading ability at private collages in Subang regency, and proved by the value of sig 0.000< 0.05. and Fo = 14,671. The total motivation is 77.48 for high motivation students, and 72.70 for low motivation students. 3) there is effect of learning media and motivation towards the students’ reading abilty, proved by the value of sig 0.005<0.05 and Fo=8,230.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to discover the process of using Kahoot! to improve student's reading comprehension, the improvement of students' reading comprehension after teaching with Kahoot!, and how students respond to the Kahoot! application. The researcher employed a classroom action research design (CAR), and data was gathered through the use of a test, questionnaire, and observation sheets. The outcome revealed that there was a positive response after the action was carried out. Following the action, 66,7% of students strongly agreed that Kahoot! could improve reading comprehension and 53,3% agreed that Kahoot! was effective in learning English. Furthermore, the students' mean pre-test score was 64, and 4 (26,7%) were able to pass the KKM. The mean score of post-test 1 was 69,3, and the percentage of students who passed the KKM was 6 (40%). The mean score of post-test 2 was 74,2, and the percentage of students who passed the KKM was 8 (53,3%). The mean score of post-test 3 was 78,3 and the class percentage of students who passed the KKM was 13 (87%). It can be concluded that Kahoot! is a suitable medium for use in high school, particularly for improving students' reading comprehension.
