Abstract

The fish auction place is considered as a public place, where people do their transactions onfishery products. Sedati fish auction place is a center of a fishery products in the eastern coast ofKabupaten Sidoarjo. Everyday large number of people aredoing transactionsthat generated large amountof garbage and trash. Therefore sanitation facilities in such a place need to be controlled.This is a descriptive observation, to make a description about condition of the sanitation facilitiesin Sedati fish auction center, using investigation formsreleased by ministry of health number: 519/MENKES / SK / VI /2008.The observation lead to statements that condition of sanitation facilities in the place wasunhealthy (45% ) as follow: the location and buildingsthat were in poor condition was 62%. The cleanwater storage facilities were 50%. Toilet sanitation and hand wash facilities were 32%. The seweragesystem was 12%. The garbage containers were 32%. The desinfection and animal/vector related facilitieswere 32%. The supporting facilities were 56%, all received unhealthy appraisal criteria.The study suggested the management of the Sedati fish auction place to make signsin moreclearly wording to separate wet and dry fish tables. Hand washingfacilities need to be added in the fishselling sites. Storage should be provided to store fish at cold temperature. Strong and watertight garbagecontainers are in need in the area, supply of clean water is also required. Disinfection should be performedonce every month until the condition of the Sedati fish auction place improves, clean and free of germs.The management need to be ready with first aid kits and fire extinguisher.

Abstract

RumahSakit Umum Daerah Dr. Soetomo, Surabaya as one of medical service means, isa place where both sick and healthy people are gathering together. Activities of RSUD Dr.Soetomo will produce solid and liquid medical waste thatmay affect ennironmental pollution andhealth disorder. The behavior of Paramedic and Cleaning Service personnel significantly affectin managing the solid medical waste management.This research is a descriptive one, namely a research method aimin to assess thebehavior of Paramedicand Cleaning Service personnel, comprising of knowledge level, attitude,and action in managing those solid medical wastes in Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Dr. Soetomo,Surabaya. Population in this research was 298 Paramedic and Cleaning Service Personnel,spread in 13 wards, total sample was 75 Paramedic personnel and 3 Cleaning Servicepersonnel. Data obtained was further analyzed descriptively with table.The research result on solid medical waste management in Rumah Sakit Umum DaerahDr. Soetomo Surabaya, having satisfactorily knowledge level assessment each was 50,6% forParamedic personnel and 67% for Cleaning Service personnel. While for satisfactorily attitudeassement was 53,3% for Paramedic personnel and 100% for Cleaning Service personnel.Regarding satisfactorily performance assessment, it ,was achieved of 18,6% for Paramedicpersonnel, andO%for Cleaning Service personnel.Following the observation result of Paramedic and Cleaning Service personnel, it issuggested for their further guidance and briefing in behavior improvement regarding solidmedical waste management.Keywords : Behavior, Hospital

Abstract

Family toilet is an important and necessary part of public health improvement. In some areas,fecal disposalfacility that satisfy health requirements were not available as expected, especially among thelow economic level of the society, and the cost to build latrines becomes a barrier for families. Besidethis,other factors come into play such as the effective knowledge on health issues was inferior, as well as theever present habit unhealthy defecation in the community.Statistical analysis in this research relied on the use of chi-square test where primary datacollection was carried out by meansof observations and the use of questionnaires returned by 89 heads offamilies. Secondarydata were obtained from Mendalan village, Winongan subdistrict, Pasuruanregency.A portion of the community (19.1%) have poor understanding with regard to latrine and itsownership. Significant portion of the community (45%) did not finish their primary education. Whereas asmany as 71.9% of the the community did not have latrines. It was noted that there was no relationshipbetween levels of education and latrine ownership at a chi-square p a (0/233 0/1); and also there is norelationship between the community level of knowledge on latrines with latrine ownership indicated by achi-square of p 0(0/114 0/1).The study recommends to conduct the community awareness raising leading to initiation ofrevolving fund drive for latrine construction; to employ workers on regular basis to clean up theenvironment surrounding Mendalan village of Winongan subdistrict and to strengthen the role ofcommunity leaders in community mobilization.

Abstract

ABSTRACTSchool is one of public places, where the public places have potency as a place of disease transmission occurrence, environmental pollution or other health problems. Based on preliminary survey conducted in Mlilir State Elementary School on Dolopo District Madiun Regency which the number of school was 2 schools, it was known that both of schools were located in Mlilir Community Health Centre area which the incidence rate of diarrhea was the highest in Madiun Regency area in 2015 – 2016. Mlilir State Elementary School was located on the edge of the highway which had potency of air contamination either in form of gas/fume or dust particles. Moreover, the environmental cleanliness of Mlilir State Elementary School was still less good. The aim of this study is to determine the environmental health of Mlilir State Elementary School on Dolopo District Madiun regency in 2017.This study was a descriptive study in form of survey. The object that studied in this study include school location, school yard, building construction (roof and gutters, ceilings, walls, floor, and doors), room building (classrooms, teacher rooms, School Health Unit room, library and place of worship, air quality (measurement of dust concentration in front of classrooms), illumination, ventilation, sanitation facilities (clean water supply, toilets, sewage disposal facilities and garbage disposal facilities). The instruments used were interview forms, assessment forms, lux meter, sound level meter, high volume dust sampler, measuring tape, pH indicator strip paper. Data were analyzed descriptively.The results of study showed that the environmental health of Mlilir State Elementary School on Dolopo District Madiun Regency in 2017 was categorized as Enough. All people of Mlilir State Elementary School must always keep the cleanliness of school environment and repair school facilities and infrastructures which do not meet the requirements.Keywords     : Environmental Health, Elementary School.

Abstract

Terminal Purabaya adalah tempat-tempat umum yang terdiri dari kegiatan pelayanan penumpang atau barang dengan kendaraan bus atau angkutan umum, Terminal Purabaya terbesar di Jawa Timur, jumlah sampah yang dihasilkan setiap harinya rata-rata 14m3 dengan rata-rata jumlah penumpang kedatangan 29.000 dan keberangkatan 28.300 orang setiap harinya, maka perlu mendapatkan pengawasan pengelolaan yang baik untuk mengantisipasi timbulnya dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan, dari hasil survei pendahuluan yang dilakukan di Terminal Purabaya dari aktifitas pengunjung, penumpang maupun pengelola dapat mempengaruhi jumlah sampah di Terminal Purabaya, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur jumlah sampah, melakukan observasi mengenai pengelolaan sampah, dan mengevaluasi pengelolaan sampah di Terminal Purabaya menggunakan analisis SWOT.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggambarkan fakta yang ada terkait pengelolaan sampah di Terminal Purabaya. Sampel dalam penelitian ini mengambil orang yang dianggap mengetahui permasalahan yang diteliti yaitu pengelola, petugas kebersihan, pengawas petugas kebersihan, dan Kepala Terminal Purabaya. Data yang diperoleh selanjutnya dianalisis SWOT.Dari hasil penelitian, maka didapat hasil timbulan sampah perhari di Terminal Purabaya 4.870,28 Kg/hari, dan penilaian pengelolaan sampah di Terminal Purabaya pada tahap penimbulan 88%, pengumpulan 77%, penyimpanan sampah sementara 95%, dan pengangkutan ke TPA 100%, dari semua tahap pengelolaan sampah dapat dikategorikan baik.Pada analisis SWOT didapat beberapa strategi, antara lain: (1) Terminal Purabaya merupakan Terminal terbesar, yang mana terkait pengelolaan sampah telah bekerja sama dengan DKP atau dinas terkait. Sumber daya manusia (SDM) petugas kebersihan di Terminal Purabaya sudah cukup; (2) Meningkatkan wawasan petugas kebersihan dalam melaksanakan tugasnya; (3) Perlu adanya koordinasi antara pihak Terminal dengan tokoh masyarakat; (4) Perbaikan dan peningkatan sarana prasarana; (5) Meningkatkan wawasan masyarakat / pengunjung Terminal dalam hal pentingnya membuang sampah pada tempatnya. Kata kunci : SWOT, Analisis pengelolaan sampah

Abstract

Solid waste, these could be medical solid waste and non-medical solid waste. The solid waste need to be treated according to hospital’s solid waste management in Indonesia which regulated by Kepmenkes 1204 2004. The regulation was made to control environmental impact and the transmission of disease in the hospital. The janitors as the officer who directly handling solid waste management must have a good knowledge and attitute so it will affect their act. The aim of this study is to know the effect of janitor’s behavior to act of handling the solid waste management in RSUD Syamrabu BangkalanThe type of this study was analytical observational study using cross sectional design. Data were taken by observed the waste management and interviewed the janitors to understand their knowledge and attitude to the solid waste management. There were 49 janitors who were used as samples. Samples was taken using simple random sampling. Data then analysed by univariate and bivariate test using kendall tau as statistic test.The results showed that most of the janitors who have good knowledge good attitude were 77.55% while enough act were 63.2%. there is janitor’s knowledge and their act to handling medical solid waste. The janitors knowledge and attitude were good, but their act to handling medical solid waste need to be improved.The hospital should provide strict regulations regarding the handling of solid waste and training or socialization should be held for janitors about handling solid waste regularly.Keywords: hospital, janitor, solid waste management

Abstract

Dealing with defecation remains an important aspect in envirinmental health programs. Accordingto the Expert Commitee on Environmental Health of WHO, defecation was designated as a top priority thatmust be dealt with in the context of environmental health, primarily in rural areas. Imporer defecation maycontaminate soil and drinking water sources. The purpose of the research was to determinane thebehavior of people in relation to defecation.This research employed a descriptive method. Data were collected by observation andquestionnaire. The size of samples to be observed in this study was 89 heads of household. The datacollected were subSequently analyzed descriptively where description and discussion were based on theanswers on the questionnaire.Results of the study on people's behavior in Ngrawan Village, Berbek Subdistrict, Nganjuk Districtindicated that 49.44% (44) of the respondents were aged 25-35 years, 47.29% (42) of respondents hadJunior High School Education, 39.32% (35) of the respondent worked as peasants, 41.57% (37) ofrespondents had low economic status. About 28.09% (25) of the respondents had inadequate knowledge.About 42.70% (38) of the respondents didn't take any action adequately, and 39.33% .(35) ) of therespondents had poor behavior.It is suggested that the primary health center performs a triggedng initiative to boost people'sunderstanding. This way people will know, understand, and implement hygienic and healthy livingbehavior, especially in relation to defecation. Pople need to hold SOCialgatherings (such as women'slottery club) or Jimpitan to facilitate the ideals that at the end everybody have their own latrines
