Abstract

Relying on amount  inorganic fertilizer in a last period on agricultural farming had given amount of disadvantage impacts for our environment and living thing. Organic farming system which is emphasis on a natural farming system that minimize  the inorganic fertilizer usenessis one of the way in order to against these impacts. Applying an organic fertilizer is a good way alternative to replace inorganic fertilizer. This research had been held on March to September 2015 in Arang-arang Village, KumpehUlu Sub-district, Muaro Jambi District .The completely randomized factorial design was used with two kinds of treatment. The first treatment was two kinds of growing media (M1: Soil+compost TKKS (2:1) and M2: Soil+compost TKKS (1:2)). While the second treatment was  four different levels of inorganic fertilizer e.g. NPK (Po: control; P1: 7,5 g; P2: 15 g and P3: 22,5 g). There are eight kind combinations between the two treatment above e.g. M1Po, M1P1, M1P2, M1P3, M2Po, M2P1, M2P2, and M2P3. There are there time repetitions on each combination, so it had 24 block combinations. Beside there are there plants in each block,  then    it had been took two plants from each block as a sample. The result of this research showed that  the combinations between growing media  and inorganic fertilizer (NPK) had significant interaction on  Plant height of oil palm plant. However NPK as an individual application showed no significant effect on it plant height. Keywords: Growing media, NPK fertilizer, TKKS

Abstract

Transplanting cocoa seedlings susceptible to deactivation system is a fast and inexpensive way. However, these systems are vulnerable to the decline in seedling resistance due to stress. Slurry application is an alternative to overcome the stress of cocoa seedlings when transplanting. Experiments have been carried out in the Balai Benih Induk Hortikultura, Muaro Jambi in November 2012 until January 2013. Experiment using a completely randomized design with a treatment composition of slurry (a mixture of soil and water) with the following composition: S0: Without Slurry, S1: Soil Slurry Composition 1 kg + 250 cc water, S2: Soil Slurry Composition 1 kg + 500 cc water, S3 : Soil Slurry Composition 1 kg + 750 cc Water, S4: Soil Slurry Composition 1 kg + 1000 cc Water and S5: Soil Slurry Composition 1 kg + Water 1250 cc. Each treatment was repeated three times. The experimental results showed that the composition of the soil slurry composition with 1 kg + 500 cc water (S2) can reduce the mortality rate of cocoa seedlings when transplanting from the nursery to polybag. But do not differ statistically significantly with other treatments because it is thought to value coefficient variation (CV) is high. Keywords: Water stress, seedling vigor, and cacao

Abstract

Cacao seeds are recalcitrant seeds quickly lose its growing when not immediately dikecambahkan after the last of the parent plant. Cocoa seeds can not be dried below the critical water and not tolerant of low temperatures. Shipping cocoa seeds for long distances requires packaging and storage of seeds baikuntuk maintain its growth or seed viability remains high until the time comes for planting. This research has been carried out in the Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Batanghari Basics about 3 months from February 2014 until June 2014.This study used a completely randomized design environment consisting of a single factor, with the provision of treatment osmoticum PEG-6000 in the cocoa seeds are packaged in HDPE plastic ventilated 10%, with the level of brand osmoticum PEG-6000 as follows: P0 Without osmoticum packed in ventilated plastic 10 %, P1, osmoticum concentration of 15% in ventilated plastic containers in 10%, 30% P2 osmoticum concentration in ventilated plastic containers in 10%, 45% P3 osmoticum concentration in ventilated plastic containers in 10%.Treatment osmoticum PEG-6000 with 45% concentration can inhibit seed germination until day 21 of 9.67 and viability of seeds stored and vigornya still in good condition. Osmoticum PEG-6000 treatment with several concentrations of the cocoa seed parameters significantly affect the percentage of seed germination and the percentage of moldy seed in storage, but no real effect on germination percentage, vigor index and germination rate after storage.Keyword:  Osmotikum, rekalsitran, cocoa
