Abstract

Restaurant waste is biomass which has the potential to be developed into renewable energy in the form of biogas. The choice of restaurant waste is the main substrate for biogas production because the waste contains many elements of organic material which have not been widely used, especially for biogas production. Besides of restaurant waste, tofu liquid waste and cow dung are very potential to be used as additional substrates in the biogas formation process. This research aims to study the effect of variations in the composition of organic waste (restaurant waste, tofu wastewater and cow dung) on the quality of methane gas in biogas production. The research was conducted using an 30-liter anaerobic biodigester with a working volume of 22.5 liters. The research variables are substrate variations, namely 100% restaurant waste, 50% restaurant waste : 50% tofu liquid waste, and 93.75% restaurant waste : 6.25% cow dungThe results showed that the initial pH value of the three biodigesters ranged from 6.63 to 6.7 where the pH range was still within the ideal pH value in making biogas, which ranged from 6.6 to 7.6. While the temperature of each reactor in this study has fluctuated, ie 28 ° C - 29.7 ° C, in this temperature range biogas can still be developed. Abstract

The researchers had found that learning reading strategies is a key element in developing student comprehension. However, many teachers lack a solid foundation for teaching these reading comprehension strategies. Therefore, teachers need to be prepared on how to design effective reading comprehension strategies and how to teach these strategies to their students. Therefore this study aims to study the effective reading strategies in order to improve reading skills in language classes. The study is an action research applied to a number of 15 students in an intermediate level integrated skills course. The main question of the study is “Would reading strategies help my students’ reading comprehension studies?”. The result od the study indicate that the students had an improvement to a great extend have been tutored about the reading strategies.

Abstract

Phosphate is the second essential chemical element for plants. However, it mostly presents in insoluble form. Using biofertilizers containing phosphate-solubilizing bacteria can increase phosphate solubilization. However, it is often ineffective due to the high temperature of the storage warehouse so the viability and enzyme activity of the microbes can decrease. The aims of this study were to determine the optimum and maximum temperature of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria’s viability, knowing the effect of storage temperature on the bacteria population and halozone of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria, knowing phosphatase activity of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria which were incubated at high temperatures, and knowing the organic acid production of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria which incubated at high temperature. The results showed that 37˚C was the optimum temperature of JBNO6, KT6D, KT7D and EPS5 strains and they could hold the high temperature of 58˚C (thermophilic). The ability of all strains in dissolving the P-insoluble decreased at high temperatures. However, the enzyme activity would go back again at room temperature (reversible). The acid phosphatase value of all phosphate-solubilizing bacteria strains was higher than the alkaline phosphatase value in the entire storage temperature. At high temperatures, KT6D was capable of producing oxalic acid and KT7D was able to produce acetic acid. EPS5 was the highest in the ability of phosphate solubilizing, the ability to produce the phosphatase enzyme and the bacteria population compared with JBNO6, KT6D and KT7D.
