Abstract

Kepuh( Linn.)merupakan jenis tanaman potensial untuk dikembangkan sebagai sumber bahan bakar nabati yang belum banyak dibudidayakan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan teknologi perbaikan perkecambahan benih kepuh melalui penentuan masak fisiologis, pengeringan, penyimpanan, dan teknik perkecambahan. Penentuan masak fisiologis dilakukan dengan mengklasifikasikan warna buah dan benih. Pengeringan benih dilakukan pada dua kondisi, yaitu dibawah sinar matahari dan dikeringanginkan di ruang kamar hingga 20 hari. Pergujian penyimpanan benih menggunakan 3 (tiga) faktor, yaitu kondisi ruang simpan, media pelembab, dan periode simpan. Penentuan teknik perkecambahan dilakukan dengan 2 (dua) faktor, yaitu media perkecambahan dan perlakuan pendahuluan. Rancangan acak lengkap dalam pola faktorial digunakan untuk menganalisis data penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa benih masak fisiologis dapat dicirikan dengan warna kulit buah hijau kemerahan hingga merah dengan warna benih merah hingga hitam. Benih kepuh dapat dikeringkan hingga kadar air 9-10% tanpa mengalami penurunan daya berkecambah. Penyimpanan dengan penurunan kadar air benih hingga ±10% (metode kering angin) mampu mempertahankan viabilitas benih selama 4 bulan dengan daya berkecambah rata-rata 76%. Perkecambahan dengan perlakuan perendaman benih dalam H SO selama 10 menit pada media pasir-cocopeat dapat meningkatkan kecepatan tumbuh benih hingga 9,8%/etmal sedangkan kontrol hanya 5,22%/etmal, namun untuk daya berkecambah perlakuan ini (92%) tidak berbeda nyata dengan kontrol pada semua media.

Abstract

The green revolution movement is an action to change people's behavior quickly and precisely to care for environment quality through planting activities in South Kalimantan Province. This movement requires the quality forest tree seed supply, thus requiring research to determine an integrated and systematic strategy for developing forest tree seed programs in South Kalimantan in the next 10 years. SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) with the analytical hierarchy process approach is used to determine the planning strategy. The results of the analysis show that the position of forest tree seed implementation programs is in an investment position, which shows a big opportunity but still has internal constraints/weaknesses. Weakness-opportunities strategies were chosen with 6 programs, i.e.: increasing the human resources competence; construction of facilities and infrastructure for seeds and seedlings certification; organizing certification of seed sources, seedling quality and seed quality; development of superior seed sources; strengthening of quality seed and seed production systems; and the provision of technological information, documentation and supervision systems of the seed and seedling distribution. This strategy can be described in a work program which is expected to be able to improve the performance of the forest tree seed implementation in order to provide quality seeds and seedlings and to become a community economic generator from the forest tree seed sector in South Kalimantan.

Abstract

Critical land, which is still very large requires alternative reforestation methods, one of which is direct seeding. This study aims to determine the seed treatment and land preparation in direct seeding of A. crassicarpa seeds. The research was conducted in Parungpanjang, Bogor with a three-factor factorial randomized design, i.e. environmental conditions (A1=under the stand, A2=open area), seed treatment (B1=untreated, B2=soaked in hot water and allowed to cool for 24 hours), and sowing technique (C1=sowing on the soil surface without cleaning, C2=sowing on the soil surface of the cleared and loosened land, C3=sowing with 2-3 cm immerses on the cleared and loosened land). The results showed that seedlings under the stand tended to have better height growth (14.8 cm) compared to seedlings in open area (11.2 cm), as well as for seedlings diameter (under the stand 0.14 cm; in open area 0.11 cm). The application of the direct seeding of A. crassicarpa can be done by treating the seeds soaked in hot water allowed to cool for 24 hours and sowing methods by loosening the soil and immersing the seed 2-3 cm which results in 11% seedling survival, 11.85 cm height, and diameter 0.12 cm at 14 weeks after sowing.
