Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is one of disease caused by changes individual's lifestyle and is not in accordance with a healthy lifestyle. In addition, this is also caused by factors that cannot be ignored. Knowledge of the general public in rural areas is very minimal because of their ignorance about diabetes mellitus. The method used in this study is descriptive observational prospectively by providing a questionnaire to assess the level of knowledge of respondents and the use of diabetes medication. Data collection was carried out in two stages. As a result of this service activity, respondents who were given counseling actually experienced an increase in their understanding of diabetes. The data obtained were analyzed by statistical program with t-test analysis. This can be seen from the statistical results that there is an effect of p <0.05 on knowledge about diabetes, the use of antidiabetic drugs, the effectiveness of antidiabetic drugs, the quality of antidiabetic drugs, and adherence to taking antidiabetic drugs. With these changes, the importance of information on patients by pharmacists in the area is very important.

Abstract

Portulaca oleracea L. is one of the plants empirically used as medicine and contains flavonoid compounds assumed to have an immunomodulatory effect. The research aimed to determine the immunomodulatory effect of ethanol extract of Portulaca oleracea L by Delayed Type Hypersensitivity parameter. The research used 20 male rats (Rattus norvegicus) divided into 5 groups where each group consisted of 4. Group I as a normal group (without treatment), group II (NaCMC control), group III, IV and V (treatment groups) were given EEHK with doses of 100 mg/kg BW, 200 mg/kg BW, and 400 mg/kg BW doses. The dosage form was orally given for 7 days. On day 3, the rats were induced with SDMD antigen 10% v/v by intraperitonial and intraplantar on day 7. The observations were conducted by measuring the volume change of the rat's feet at the 4th, 24th, and 48th hours using a pletismometer. The research data obtained were statistically processed using Paired Samples T Test, One-Way Anova and Post Hoc LSD tests. The results of the research showed that the ethanol extract of common purslane was effective as an immunomodulator.

Abstract

Storage of pharmaceutical dosage forms and single-use medical devices is a regulation of the pharmaceutical dosage forms received to be safe (not to lost), to avoid physical and chemical damage and the quality remains guaranteed, in accordance with the requirements set. This research aimed to find out the profile of drug storage in Tamalanrea Jaya subdistrict community Health Center in Makassar City. This research was a descriptive study. The informant in this study was the Head of Pharmaceutical Installation of Tamalanrea Jaya Makassar Health Center. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and observations. The results of the study stated that infrastructure facilities meeting the prevailing regulation in drug storage warehouses according to conformity percentage were 81%. The organisation of drugs in the storage warehouse of community Health Center Pharmaceutical Installation by 85% was carried out based on the standards. The card stock of the drug was fulfilled, which the percentage of conformity indicated 100%.

Abstract

The wole woe plant empirically in the community in Central Halmaherah district is used to treat various diseases, such as breast anticancer, cysts, vaginal discharge, diabetes mellitus, wounds, dysentery, cholesterol, and uric acid, which is thought to have bioactive compounds, that is antibacterial compounds. Therefore, a study was conducted to determine the antibacterial potential of the ethanol extract of wole woe stems against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus subtilis bacteria using the agar diffusion method. The results of the screening test showed activity at a concentration of 0.1% and the results of the minimum inhibitory concentration test (MIC) and the minimum killing concentration test (MBC) obtained 1.6% for Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. For Bacillus subtilis bacteria, the MIC value is 0.2% and the MBC value is 3.2%. The statistical test results of the inhibition zone diameter data from the antibacterial activity test against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus subtilis bacteria showed that there was a difference in the ability to inhibit bacterial growth between the positive control and the test concentration group of 2.5%, 5% and 10%. The results obtained from the ethanol extract of wole woe stems have potential as antibacterial.

Abstract

Pain is a condition that indicates the body is experiencing tissue damage and inflammation. Pain can be managed with analgesics. One of the plants that is thought to have an analgesic effect is matoa leaf (Pometia pinnata J.R. Forst & G. Forst). This study was an experimental study using male white mice which were divided into 5 treatment groups, namely group I was given NaCMC as a negative control, group II was given ibuprofen as a positive control, and groups III, IV, and V were given EEDM with a successive dose of 200 mg /kgBB, 400 mg/kgBB, and 800 mg/kgBB. The test animals were induced with 1% acetic acid intraperitoneally after 30 minutes of oral administration of the test preparation. Observations were made by calculating the pain response marked by stretching for 180 minutes with an interval of 10 minutes. The research data were processed statistically using the One Way ANOVA test and the LSD follow-up test. The positive control group for the EEDM group at doses of 200 mg/kg, 400 mg/kg, and 800 mg/kg showed no significantly different results with a P>0,05. From the study results, it can be concluded that EEDM has an analgesic effect on male white mice with an effective dose of 800 mg/kgBB.
