<![CDATA[Legenda adalah cerita prosa rakyat yang dianggap oleh yang mempunyai cerita sebagai sesuatu yang benar-benar terjadi yang mengandung dan mengungkapkan nilai-nilai pragmatis sehingga dijadikan sebagai pedoman dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Untuk dapat memperoleh manfaat dari cerita jenaka tersebut perlu dilakukan analisis terhadap teks-teks cerita legenda tersebut menggunakan teori-teori struktural naratif. Struktur adalah hubungan antara unsur-unsur pembentukan dalam susunan keseluruhan. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam kajian yaitu Struktural Naratif Vladimir Propp dengan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menggambarkan struktur naratif legenda Tanjung Menangis yang dimulai dari lingkaran pertama yaitu pengenalan, hingga berakhir di rangkaian Keempat kembalinya sang pahlawan. Keempat lingkaran tersebut teridentifikasi dari munculnya 9 fungsi yaitu penipuan (trickery), kejahatan (villainy), fungsi bantuan pertama (first function of the donor), reaksi pahlawan (hero’s reaction), bimbingan (guidence), kepulangan (return), pencarian (pursuit), perubahan penampilan (transfiguration), dan penghukuman (punishment).Kata kunci: legenda, fungsi, struktur naratif, Vladimir ProppLegend is a people's prose story that is considered by those who have a story as something that actually happened that contains and expresses pragmatic values so that it is used as a guide in social life. To be able to benefit from the humorous stories, it is necessary to analyze the texts of the legendary stories using structural narrative theories. Structure is the relationship between the elements of form in the overall order. The approach used in the study is Vladimir Propp's Structural Narrative with qualitative descriptive research methods. The results of this study illustrate the narrative structure of the Tanjung Menangis legend which starts from the first circle that was introduced, ends in the Fourth circle of return of the hero. Replacing the 9 functions as trickery, crime, donor's first reaction, hero reaction, guidance, return, pursuit, transfiguration, and punishment.
