Abstract

Soyghurt is a kind of yogurt as functional food product obtained from the fermentation of lactic acid bacteria in soy milk. The fermentation process of soy milk is different from cow's milk fermentation, because of different carbohydrate content. Carbohydrates in soy milk is composed of oligosaccharide species that can not function optimally as a substrate of lactic acid bacteria. Therefore, fermented soy milk requires other carbohydrates, including sucrose and lactose of different types of milk. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of various types of milk in the manufacture soyghurt and determine the sensory and physicochemical characteristics of soyghurt. The method used in this study was a completely randomized design of experimental design which is the treatment factor is various types of milk used in the manufacture of soyghurt with three types of milk are skim milk, full cream milk, sweetened condensed milk. Soyghurt incubation in the fermentation process carried out at a temperature of 370C for 12 hours. The results showed that there were not significant differences in sensory characteristics of soyghurt with the addition of various types of milk. Soyghurt with the addition of sweetened condensed milk, is the most preferred panelists. It has viscosity 0.30 dPass, pH 3.97, protein content 7.44%, and fat content 7.07%.

Abstract

The increased use of video conference platforms provides opportunities to invite foreign lecturers to give lectures virtually. Despite of beneficial impacts, inviting foreign lecturers might bring challenges to students using English as a foreign language. Therefore, this study was aimed at examining challenges faced by non-English speaking students in attending visiting lecturer classes delivered in English and the potential strategy. The study was an exploratory study conducted in a university in Indonesia. The study involved 118 students from a Study Program taken from two courses. Data were collected through observation and questionnaire. Findings show that language became one of the most challenging barriers in understanding the materials, mostly due to speaking speed of the lecturers and the lack of vocabulary. The lecture summary provided by in-class lecturers could be an alternative to improve learning process. Findings also indicate that the visiting lecturer program could improve students’ language proficiency, especially their vocabulary and listening comprehension. It concludes that visiting lecturer program has a potential to improve students’ language proficiency. However, it is important to provide strategies to help students comprehend the material, such as allocating time for providing a brief summary of the lectures in the student first or second language.

The Physical Self Perception Profile for Children (PSPP-C), Parental Involvement in Sport Questionnaire (PISQ), and Source of Enjoyment in Youth Sport Questionnaire (SEYSQ-H) were the three questionnaires used in this study. Bivariate analysis of this study used the chi-square test. The chi-square test showed that the self-perception variable and parental involvement variable each had indicated a significant relationship with playing enjoyment. The results showed that f = 45 (37.5%) had a poor playing enjoyment and f = 75 45 (62.5%) had a reasonable playing enjoyment. Athletes who lack self-perception and parental involvement have a higher risk of experiencing less delight in playing basketball than athletes who have good self-perceptions and parental involvement.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic had limited interactions and raised the potential of the increased use of gadgets. Those conditions might increase the prevalence of child speech delays considering the development of a child's speech requires two-way interactions. Speech delay in early childhood itself needs to be a concern for parents and the community because communication is one of the affecting aspects of a child's welfare. One of the components in the community that has a strategic role in reaching parents is the Family Welfare and Empowerment or known as PKK, team. Therefore, this Community Service was aimed to optimize the strategic role of Family Welfare and Empowerment (PKK) in preventing speech delays in early childhood. The activity was carried out in Padalarang District by involving twenty-four PKK team members and one PKK coordinator. The activity was carried out in two stages, including socialization and training. At the socialization stage, participants received exposure to the stages of language development according to age. At the training stage, participants received exposure and did hands-on practices related to the stimulation to improve early childhood language development. At the end of the activity, participants demonstrated an example of simple stimulation that can be given, such as reading aloud for children. The activity went well and was followed enthusiastically by the participants. Based on the interviews, participants gave positive responses. It is hoped that similar activities can be conducted continuously in the future.
