Abstract

Trocar, a tool to remove the gas in livestock that have bloated stomach, has been modified for rumen fluid collection, as an alternative methods in animal welfare aspects. Rumen fluid collection with trocar modification can be made very easy, cheap and fast at the local sheep, both in vitro and in vivo. After the collection, the trocar does not leave permanent scars because scars on the rumen wall and skin will heal and return to normal. The animal relatively does not suffer from pain and stress; feed intake and body weight do not decrease drastically and animal can live normal. The rumen fluid sampling technique with trocar is better than fistulation in animal welfare aspect. Key words: Animal welfare, fistulation, trocar

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi pengembangan peternakan kambing di Kabupaten Kepulauan Aru Provinsi Maluku. Penelitian ini didesain dengan metode survei. Pengambilan sampel secara sengaja di Kecamatan Sir Sir dan Aru Tengah yang akan menjadi pilot project pengembangan ternak kambing. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kecamatan Sir Sir dan Aru Tengah (1) Dari potensi wilayah : sangat baik untuk untuk wilayah pengembangan ternak kambing; (2) Dari potensi peternak : peternakan kambing masih dilakukan secara tradisional; (3) Dari potensi ekonomi : Rata-rata pendapatan yang diperoleh peternak kambing berada pada kisaran Rp. 2.000.000-2.500.000/tahun, dengan nilai Return Cost Ratio (R/C) pada masing-masing kecamatan, yaitu 1,62 dan 1,80 (R/C rasio > 1) sehingga menguntungankan dan layak dikembangkan. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa Kecamatan Sir Sir dan Kecamatan Aru Tengah Kabupaten Kepulauan Aru, sangat berpotensi sebagai tempat pengembangan peternakan kambing, bila dilihat dari segi potensi wilayah dan potensi ekonominya, sedangkan potensi peternaknya perlu ditingkatkan lagi.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to determine the chemical composition, physical and organoleptic properties of goat meat ball using different gelling agents (albumen, baking powder and borax). The meat ball was prepared from goat meat with the addition of gelling agent at 0.2 percent. The meat balls were analyzed their chemical composition and physical and organoleptic properties. Data of chemical composition and physical properties were analysed using analysis of variance from completely randomized design. The difference of means the treatments were tested by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test. Data of organoleptic properties analysed with analysis of nonparametric of Kruskal and Wallismethod. The results indicated that the gelling agents had a significant effect (P<0,01) on pH and tenderness, and also had a significant effect (P<0,05) on fat and protein contents, but no significant effect on water content. Gelling agents had a significant effect (P<0,05) on texture, but not significant effect on colour, taste and elasticity. In conclusion, goat meat ball with different gelling agents had different chemical composition, physical and organoleptic properties. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi kimia, sifat fisik dan organoleptik bakso daging kambing yang diberi bahan pengenyal putih telur, soda kue dan boraks. Bakso disiapkan dari daging kambing yang sudah dipisahkan jaringan lemaknya dengan penambahan salah satu bahan pengenyal tersebut diatas dengan dosis 0,2 persen. Parameter yang diamati adalah komposisi kimia, sifat fisik dan organoleptik bakso. Data komposisi kimia dan sifat fisik dianalisis dengan analisis variansi acak lengkap pola searah. Perbedaan diantara perlakuan diuji lanjut dengan Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test. Data sifat organoleptik dianalisis dengan analisis non parametrik metode Kruskal dan Wallis. Hasil analisis statistik terhadap komposisi kimia dan sifat fisik bakso menunjukkan bahwa bahan pengenyal berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap pH dan keempukan serta berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap kadar lemak dan protein, tetapi berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap kadar air. Hasil analisis statistik terhadap sifat organoleptik bakso menunjukkan bahwa bahan pengenyal berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap tekstur, tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap warna, rasa dan kekenyalan. Dari hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa bakso daging kambing dengan bahan pengenyal yang berbeda mempunyai komposisi kimia, sifat fisik dan organoleptik yang berbeda.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to determine the effect of CPO protected with formaldehyde on digestibility and performance of thin tail sheeps. Fifteen local male lambs aged 9-12 months, were divided into 3 groups of ration treatment. The first group received only the basal ration (R0), the second group received the basal ration and 3% CPO (R1), while the third group received the basal ration and 3% CPO protected with 2% formaldehyde (R2). The data were analyzed by Completely Randomized Design with oneway pattern. The different of treatments were tested by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test. The results showed that addition CPO protected with formaldehid (R2) in the sheeps diet did not affect dry matter and organic matter intake, dry matter and organic matter digestibility, average daily gain (ADG), but significantly (P<0.01) increase feed conversion rate. It can be concluded that CPO protected with formaldehyde gives more advantage on feed conversion aspect.(Key words: Thin tail sheeps, Crude palm oil (CPO) protected with formaldehyde, Digestibility, Performance)

Abstract

INTISARIPembangunan suatu daerah sering ditemui adanya suatu ketimpangan prioritas pembangunan. Ketimpangan ini disebabkan tidak tepatnya penentuan prioritas sektor ekonomi yang akan dikembangkan akibat adanya persaingan prioritas kebijakan dalam suatu wilayah/daerah. Persaingan subsektor dalam suatu daerah dapat dilihat dari kontribusi pendapatannya pada PDRB dan Net ekspor-impor serta pengukuran keunggulan sektor/subsektor tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persaingan subsektor peternakan dengan sub sektor-subsektor pertanian lainnya di Provinsi Maluku. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Analisis Input-Output; data diperoleh dari Badan Pusat Statistik Provinsi Maluku Tahun 2013. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan Persaingan subsektor peternakan di Provinsi Maluku belum mampu bersaing dengan subsektor pertanian lainnya; hal ini terlihat dari kontribusi pendapatannya pada PDRB Maluku dan nilai Net Ekspor-Impornya. Dampak penyebaran subsektor peternakan bila ditinjau dari derajat kepekaan dan derajat penyebaran; subsektor peternakan berada pada kuadran pertama, artinya nilai derajat kepekaan dan derajat penyebaran lebih dari satu. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa subsektor peternakan merupakan subsektor unggulan di provinsi Maluku. Walaupun persaingan subsektor peternakan belum mampu bersaing sengan subsektor pertanian lainnya dilihat dari kontribusi pendapatan terhadap PDRB dan net ekspor-impor, namun subsektor peternakan merupakan subsektor potensial untuk dikembangkan di Provinsi Maluku.Kata kunci : (Input-Output, Persaingan, Pertanian, Subsektor Peternakan)    ABSTRAK            The development of a region often encountered the existence of an inequality of development priorities. This inequality caused not exactly determinated the economy priority sectors  which will be developed as a result of the priorities competition policy in a region or area.  The subsector competition in an area can be seen from  contributions in the GDP and net revenue exports-imports as well as measurement of excellence sectors / sub-sectors. This paper is aimed to determine the competition animal husbandry sector with the other agricultural subsectors in the province of Maluku. The method used in this research was the Input-Output Analysis; data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency Province of Maluku in 2013. Results showed the animal husbandry subsector competition in Maluku Province had not been able to competed with other agricultural subsectors; it can be seen from the revenued contribution in the GDP Province of Maluku and value Net revenue Export-Import. The impact of the distribution of the animal husbandry subsector when the reviewed of the degree of sensitivity and the degree of distribution; the animal husbandry subsector were in the first quadrant, that meaning the value of the degree of sensitivity and the degree of distribution were more than one. This showed that the animal husbandry subsector were a superior subsector in Province of Maluku. Although the animal husbandry subsector competition had not been able to compete with other agricultural subsector viewed on the contribution to the GDP and net revenue import-export, but the animal husbandry subsector was a potential sub-sectors to be developed in the Province of Maluku.Keyword : (Agriculture, Animal Husbandry Subsector, Competition, Input-Output)

Abstract

This research aimed to know the ability of citronella from C. hystrix to protect unsaturated fatty acid of Tropical cooking oil on the hydrogenation process by rumen microbes. The in vitro fermentation test used rumen fluid of local female sheeps as source of microbial, Tropical cooking oil as a source of unsaturated fatty acids and C. hystrix leaves as source of cironela. Tropical cooking oil was mixed with Preston skim milk (1:2). The mixture were added by C. hystrix leaves with the level of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3% and 4% (dry weight bases) from the weight of the mixture, then mixed evenly into protected Tropical cooking oil. The data was analyzed by Completely Random Design. The difference of means the treatments were tested by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test. Result showed that oleic and linoleic resulting from fermenting Tropical cooking oil protected by citronela in C. hystrix was increase if it compare to unprotected. It can be concluded that Tropical cooking oil protected with citronelal C. hystrix was reduced  hydrogenation of unsaturated fatty acid, mainly oleic and linoleic.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of crude palm oil protected with formaldehyde on the hydrogenation of unsaturated fatty acids in the rumen and its effect on blood and meat fatty acids. Fifteenth local male lambs aged 9-12 months weighing 14-17 kg, were divided into 3 groups ration treatment. The first group received only the basal ration (R0), the 2nd group received the basal ration and 3% CPO (R1), while the 3rd group received the basal ration and 3% CPO protected with 2% formaldehyde (R2). Basal feed consisted of 60% grass, 30% bran and 10% soybean meal, with the nutrient content of 62.98% TDN, 45.5% DM, 14.48% CP, 4.70% EE and 21.93% CF. Parameters observed were the fatty acid from rumen fluid, blood and meat of sheep. Data were analyzed by complete randomized design direction patterns. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas kimia bakso daging sapi yang disubstitusi dengan daging ikan tuna (Thunnus sp). Daging sapi (otot Biceps femoris) dan daging ikan tunal, dihaluskan terpisah untuk pembuatan bakso dengan komposisi 70,00% daging sapi, 16,00% tepung tapioka, 9,00% air es, 2,00% garam, 2,20% bawang putih, dan 0,80% lada. Daging sapi disubstitusi dengan daging ikan tuna dengan level 0%, 20%, dan 40%, kemudian semua bahan digiling halus hingga tercampur merata membentuk adonan. Adonan bakso dibentuk bulat (diameter ± 2 cm) secara manual dengan tangan, kemudian direbus hingga matang (sampai bakso mengapung). Bakso diangkat dan ditiriskan. Parameter yang diuji yaitu kualitas kimia (kadar air, protein, lemak, dan abu). Data yang diperoleh, dianalisis sidik ragam menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap, dengan 3 perlakuan level daging ikan tuna (0%, 20%, dan 40%), masing-masing 5 ulangan. Perbedaan antar perlakuan akan diuji lanjut dengan uji DMRT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa daging sapi yang disubstitusi dengan daging ikan tuna, meningkatkan (P<0,01) kadar air dan kadar lemak bakso, tetapi menurunkan (P<0,01) kadar protein bakso. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa daging sapi dapat disubstitusi dengan daging ikan tuna dalam pembuatan bakso, yang berdampak pada peningkatan kadar air dan kadar lemak, tetapi menurunkan kadar protein bakso.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the organoleptic quality of beef meatballs substituted with tuna meat. Beef (Biceps femoris muscle) and tuna (Thunnus sp) fillet portion, each mashed separately, for making meatballs with a composition of 70% beef, 16% tapioca flour, 9% ice water , 2% salt, and 3% spices consisting of garlic 2,2% and 0.8 ground pepper. The beef was substituted with tuna meat at a level of 0%, 20% and 40%, then all the ingredients were finely ground until they were evenly mixed to form a dough. The dough was shaped round (± 2 cm) manually by hand, then boiled until cooked (until the meatballs float), then tested organoleptically using untrained panelists. The variables observed were color, smell, elasticity, texture and taste of meatballs. The data obtained were analyzed for variance with a completely randomized design, with 3 treatments, namely P0 (beef without being substituted with tuna meat), P1 (beef substituted 20% with tuna meat), P2 (beef substituted 40% with beef). tuna fish). If there are differences between treatments, further tested with Duncan's test. The results showed that the substitution of beef meatballs with tuna meat had no significant effect on the color, smell, elasticity, texture and taste of beef meatballs.
