Abstract

Di saat minyak tanah tersedia dengan harga relatif lebih murah dibandingkan dengan bahan-bakar-minyak/ BBM solar, maka sekelompok masyarakat berinisiatif mencampur solar dengan minyak tanah.Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan pengaruh pencampuran minyak tanah dengan solar terhadap laju konsumsi bahan bakar suatu Genset Yanmar TS155 – Sowa15kVA yang dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Teknik Mesin Universitas Sam Ratulangi di tahun 2012.Data diambil dengan kondisi beban genset 0, 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1500, dan 2000W pada putaran konstan 1500 rpm. Beban genset adalah rangkaian lampu pijar. Genset mula-mula diuji memakai bahan bakar solar (automotive diesel oil), kemudian memakai solar yang dicampur dengan 20, 35, dan 50% minyak tanah. Untuk setiap titik, dilakukan tiga pengujian. Waktu yang diperlukan motor untuk mengkonsumsi 1000 ml bahan bakar dicatat, sementara putaran motor dijaga konstan dengan mengamati tegangan listrik yang dihasilkan genset.Perhitungan menunjukkan laju konsumsi bahan bakar dari motor yang diuji dengan BBM campuran (solar + minyak tanah) adalah konsisten lebih tinggi bila dibandingkan dengan yang BBM solar. Khususnya pada beban 250W konsumsinya lebih tinggi 56.5%, sedangkan pada beban lainnya rata-rata lebih tinggi 6.1%.Kata kunci : motor diesel, laju konsumsi bahan bakar, BBM-solar, minyak tanah

Abstract

One solution in utilization of fossil fuel in a motorcycle with gasoline engine is mixing the gasoline with methanol. In this research, a test was conducted on a year 2003 edition Suzuki Smash 110 cc motorcycle to measure is fuel consumption using the methanol gasoline mixture. The methanol used in this research is a traditional Minahasa liquor which is called “Cap Tikus”. The traditional liquor then mixed with gasoline with 5, 10, and 15% volume ratio.In this research, it is assumed that the contents of gasoline is octane (C8H18) and that “Cap Tikus” contains 65% methanol (CH3OH) and 35% water (H2O). From the calculations, it is obtained that upper heating values of the mixture fuel are 12.225; 11.775; 11.261; and 10.744 kkal/kg for 0, 5, 10, and 15% volume proportion of “Cap Tikus” respectively. From tests it is obtained that specific fuel consumption values 0,073; 0,076; 0,079; and 0,081kg/kWh for 0, 5, 10, and 15% of mixture.The calculated theorical power using the heating values of the fuel are 0,575; 0,525; 0,475; and 0,425 hp for the mixing fuel with 0, 5, 10, and 15% volume proportion of “Cap Tikus”. The result showed that mixing gasoline with methanol up to 15% volume ratio is not increased the power of the engine.Keywords : Suzuki Smash Engine, Methanol, Fuel Consumption.

Abstract

One of the alternative fuel mixture that can be used by the gasoline motor is Brown's Gas. The gas is produced from the electrolysis solution of baking soda inside the elektrolizer. Percentage of baking soda solution is 99.45% destilled water and 0.55% baking soda.This research used a Suzuki Smash 110 cc motorcycle. Testing performed with engine speed of 1500, 2000, 2500 rpm. The testing time is 2, 3, 5, 8, and 10 minutes. Observation and calculation showed that the average rate of fuel consumption respectively are 125,7, 176,5, and 243,0 gr/h for gasoline and are 96.4, 121,9, 171,6 gr/h for motor combination brown gas and gasoline. From the above results it’s obtained that the efficient fuel consumption is 171,6 gr/h that is with engine speed 2500 rpm.Linear regression model is y = -5.919 x + 204.7 (R ² = 0.858), while quadratic regression model is y = -2.226 x ² + 20.72 x + 145.5 (R ² = 0.541). The quadratic regression fit better to the data for the coefficient of determination closer to 1.Keywords: Gasoline Motorcycle, Suzuki Smash 110 cc, Brown Gas

Abstract

This research aims to determine the fuel consumption of gasoline engine mounted on a 110cc Suzuki Smash. The data taken on the motorcycle in different gear ratios and speed for a travel distance of 2.5 km.Analysis was conducted on gear ratios 2, 3 and 4 at speeds of 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 km / h. Observations and calculations for the arrays of indicate that fuel consumption on gear ratio 2 is 359.2, 410.9, 439.0, 545.9, and 648.9 g / h respectively. At gear ratio 3 is 296.9, 295.8, 408.6, 494.4 and 624.5 g / h respectively. At gear ratio 4 is 201.9, 249.4, 412.0, 330.8 and 538.0 g / h respectively. It is concluded that the higher the speed of the motor, the greater the rate of consumption of fuel.From the observation it was found that the test was performed at the engine rotation of 2136 to 6182 rpm. Results demonstrate that at the speed of 20 km / h to 40 km / h it is more efficient operate with gear ratio 4.Keywords: Fuel Consumption, Gasoline Motor, Suzuki Smash 110cc.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the fuel consumption of gasoline engine mounted on a 110cc Suzuki Smash. The data taken on the motorcycle in different gear ratios and speed for a travel distance of 1.4 km. Analysis was conducted on gear ratios-1, 2 and 3 at speeds of 10, 15, 20, 25,30,35 and 40 km / h. Observations and calculations for the a set of speed indicate that fuel consumption at gear ratio-1 is 539,9, 664,3, 770,1, 927,0, dan 989,8 g / h respectively. At gear ratio-2 is 506,8, 630,7, 730,4, 832,2 dan 982,0 g / h respectively. At gear ratio-3 is 421,7, 502,2, 558,1, 529,5 dan 721,0 g / h respectively. It is concluded that the higher the speed of the motor, the betterr the rate of consumption of fuel. From the observation it was found that the test was performed at the engine rotation range of 3210 to 6030 rpm. Results demonstrate that at the speed of 10 km / h to 40 km / h it is more efficient operate with gear ratio-2. Keywords: Fuel Consumption, Gasoline Motor, Suzuki Smash 110cc.

Abstract

Mixing gasoline (premium) with a "Cap-Tikus" is one solution to reduce the consumption of conventional fuels. In this study, testing was conducted on a Suzuki Smash 110 CC motorcycles made ​​in 2003 to analyze the fuel consumption for the 2.5 km mileage on gear ratio-2, 3, 4, and velocity 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 km / h with volume mixture of 15% "Cap-Tikus" and 75% gasoline. "Cap-Tikus" used is containing 65% - 90% alcohol (ethanol). Trial of using the gasoline mixed with "Cap-Tikus" is fail to start the engine. Replacing “Cap-Tikus” with “Spiritus” successfully run the engine. It is found that the consumption of the mixture fuel is reducing the consumption of gasoline. The most efficient consumption fuel obtained in the 4th gear using the fuel mixtures are 20.43; 28.64; 38.15; 40.50, and 51.20 g / hr respectively for speed 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 km / h. Abstract

This research is aimed to determine the effects of brown gas mixed with gasoline on  fuel consumption of a Suzuki Smash 110cc. Data taken in this study is the fuel consumption of the vehicle on different  gear ratio, and velocity of the vehicle within a distance of 2.5 km. Analyzing is done on gear ratio-1 at 10,15,20,25,30 km/h, whereas on gear ratio-2,3 and 4 at 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40. The result of observations and computation shows fuel consume rate gear ratio-1 is 266,4; 349,3; 455,1; 562,6 and  697,5 gr/hr on gear ratio-2 is 359,2, 410,9, 439,0; 545,9 and  648,9 gr/hr,  on gear ratio-3 is 296,9; 295,8; 408,6; 494,4 and 624,5 gr/hr, on gear ratio-4 is 201,9; 249,4; 412,0; 330,8 and 538,0 gr/hr with the speed of 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 km/h consecutively. The conclusion is the higher the speed of motorcycle, the greater the rate of consumption. It was found that the testing is executed in the range of engine speed of 2136 to 6182 rpm. These results demonstrate that the motor cycle is more efficient if using gears ratio-4 at a speed of 20 km/h to 40 km/h. Abstract

ABSTRACT Indonesia has a considerably high potential resources that can be harnessed to generate electricity through power plants. At Amurang Steam Power Plant (PLTU Amurang), coal is used for the fuel and boiler is the equipment to burn the coal producing heat. Boiler is one of the equipments in the thermodynamics cycle which aims to turn the water into steam. This study was conducted to determine the thermal efficiency of the boiler in PLTU Amurang Unit 1 based on operational data. The data collected from the PLTU Amurang . The data is then used to calculate the thermal efficiency of the boiler. Calculations using the direct method and the indirect method. The calculations shows boiler thermal efficiency is 91.73% and 92.33% respectively. When compared with the thermal efficiency of the boiler according to specifications then the difference is 0,41% and 0,19%.   Key Word: Boiler and Thermal Efficiency
