Abstrak Latar Belakang: Karies merupakan suatu penyakit jaringan keras gigi, yaitu email, dentin dan sementum, yang disebabkanoleh aktivitas suatu jasad renik suatu karbohidrat yang dapat diragikan. Tujuan penelitian ini mengetahui risiko terjadinyakaries baru pada anak sekolah dasar di Kota Jambi. Manfaat penelitian ini diharapkan untuk melakukan program-programpencegahan penyakit gigi dan mulut.Metode: Penelitian adalah survey analitik dengan rancangan cross sectional. Populasi adalah murid kelas VI SDN 149/IVKelurahan Rawasari dan SDN 150/IV Kelurahan Beliung wilayah kerja puskesmas Rawasari Kecamatan Kota Baru Jambitahun 2017 sebanyak 32 orang. Cara pengambilan sampel purposive sampling. Instrument penelitian lembar pemeriksaangigi dan format cariogram. Cara pengumpulan data di peroleh dari pemeriksaan gigi dan hasil format cariogram untukmengetahui gambaran dan perbedaan risiko terjadinya karies baru.Hasil: Gambaran risiko karies pada SDN 149/IV Kelurahan Rawasari dan SDN 150/IV Kelurahan Beliung yaitupengalaman karies tertinggi adalah lebih buruk dari normal sebesar 59,4% dan normal untuk kelompok pada usia yangsama sebesar 34,4%, penyakit yang berpengaruh terbanyak adalah sehat 65,6% dan 87,5%, frekuensi makan terbanyakadalah maksimum 3 kali sehari (termasuk jajan diantar makan besar) sebesar 84,4% dan maksimum 5 kali sehari sebesar59,4%, skor plak tertinggi yaitu buruk sebesar 65,6% dan 68,8% , program flour tertinggi adalah pasta gigi berfluor sebesar96,9% dan 100%, sekresi saliva terbanyak adalah normal sebesar 84,4% dan 90,6%, melalui uji t-tes Independent danprogram kariogram. Hasil uji independent t-test menunjukkan tidak adanya perbedaan risiko terjadinya karies baru dengannilai t hitung (0,386) < nilai t tabel (1,999) dan P value (0,701) > 0,05 dengan risiko terjadinya karies baru berbandingterbalik dengan peluang menghindari karies baru yaitu 41,03% kategori sedang dan 39,69% kategori tinggi.Kesimpulan: Tidak ditemukan perbedaan bermakna risiko terjadinya karies baru antara SDN 149/IV Kelurahan Rawasaridan SDN 150/IV Kelurahan Beliung Disarankan agar Puskesmas setempat dapat meningkatkan program promotif danpreventif pada anak usia sekolah dasar. Abstrack Background: Caries is a toothache tissue disease, ie enamel, dentine and cementum, caused by the activity of amicroorganism of a carbohydrate that can be dispersed. The purpose of this study to know the risk of new caries in primaryschool children in the city of Jambi. The benefits of this study are expected to perform dental and oral disease preventionprograms.Methods: The study was an analytical survey with cross sectional design. The population is the grade 6 students SDN 149/ IV Rawasari Urban Village and SDN 150 / IV Urban Village Buyung District working area Rawasari District New TownJambi in 2017 as many as 32 people. Methods of data collection obtained from dental examinations and cariogram format results todetermine the picture and differences in the risk of new caries.Results:The results of the study found the caries risk in SDN 149 / IV Rawasari and SDN 150 / IV Kelurahan Beliung, thehighest caries experience was worse than normal at 59.4% and normal for the group at the same age of 34.4%, influencedmost is healthy 65,6% and 87,5%, highest frequency of eating is maximum 3 times a day (incl. snacks delivered by bigmeal) equal to 84,4% and maximum 5 times daily equal to 59,4%, highest score of bad plaque 65,6% and 68,8%, thehighest flour program is 96.9% and 100% fluoride toothpaste, the highest salivary secretion is normal 84.4% and 90.6%,through Independent T-test and cariogram program. The result of independent t-test showed no difference of risk of newcaries with t value (0,386) 0,05 with risk of new caries incidence reversed withnew caries avoidance opportunity ie 41.03% medium category and 39.69% high category.Conclusion: No signoficant dfference of new caries risk were found primary school children in the city of Jambi. It isrecommended that local health centers can improve promotive and preventive programs in primary school age children.
