Abstract

Nannochloropsis oculata is one of the single-celled microalgae that has been commonly cultured in the marine fish culture sector as zooplankton feed which has high nutritional content. To support growth and reproduction, the availability of nutrients in N. oculata culture media needs to be considered. This study aims to determine the effect of the best liquid organic fertilizer (POC) duckweed (L. minor) on cell population growth in N. oculata culture. The method used in this research is an experimental method using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments, namely P0 (TSP 10 mg + ZA 40 mg + urea 45 mg) as a control treatment, P1 (POC duckweed 5%), P2 (POC duckweed 10%), P3 (POC duckweed 15%), and P4 (POC duckweed 20%) were repeated 3 times in each treatment. The initial density of N.oculata cells was 2 x 106 cells/ml in a culture media volume of 1000 ml. Growth was observed every day for 14 days. The results showed that the POC concentration of 10% duckweed can be used as an alternative to inorganic fertilizers (TSP, ZA, and urea) because it can increase cell population growth by 30.92 ± 1.84 cells/ml at the peak of the exponential phase, as well as the value of the growth rate. cells 0.38 ± 0.03 cells / ml / day and cell generation time of 43.88 ± 3.24 hours were not significantly different (p> 0.05) with P0 treatment (TSP, ZA, and urea). The range of water quality parameters in the culture media during the study were temperature 25-33oC, pH 4.89-8.40, salinity 25-38.33 ppt, and DO 4.07-7.27 ml / l. The measured value of water quality in culture media was still within the tolerance limits of N. oculata cells so that cells could still grow and divide.

Abstract

Desa Banyuremsi termasuk ke dalam kawasan perdesaan prioritas nasional yang terletak di Kecamatan Jiput, Kabupaten Pandeglang. Desa Banyuresmi termasuk ke dalam lahan marginal atau kekurangan air. Hal ini merupakan salah satu hambatan untuk berkembangnya sektor pertanian dan perikanan. Hal tersebut semakin terasa terkait kondisi terkini di masa pandemik, beberapa masyarakat ada yang diputuskan atau dirumahkan dalam pekerjaannya. Teknologi simbionik dapat diterapkan untuk mengatasi permasalahan yang dialami masyarakat Banyuresmi. Simbionik merupakan sistem budidaya organik yang mengintegrasikan ikan dan sayuran dalam ember dengan kondisi terkontrol. Tahapan pelaksanaan dalam penerapan teknologi simbionik adalah persiapan alat dan bahan, penerapan teknologi simbionik, pelatihan pengolahan produk berbasis ikan lele. Hasil monitoring dan evaluasi selama 6 minggu menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pertumbuhan ikan lele, walaupun kurang signifikan. Pertumbuhan ikan lele pada kelompok 1 dan 2 mencapai 41% dan 66%. Amoniak dan TDS merupakan parameter yang menunjukkan kebutuhan C dan N yang dimanfaatkan untuk pertumbuhan kangkung pada sistem Simbionik ini. Pada monev 2, proses pemanenan dilakukan pada umur kurang lebih 30 hari dengan tinggi 30 cm. Penerapan sistem Simbionik dapat mengoptimalisasi pemanfaatan pekarangan rumah masyarakat di Desa Banyuresmi. Sistem Simbionik dapat diterapkan oleh masyarakat karena mudah dan murah untuk diterapkan di sekitar pekarangan rumahnya.

Abstract

Palm kernel meal (PKM) is the potential of raw material for feed fish ingredient because it has good nutritional content and abundant availability in Indonesia. The study was conducted to evaluate of PKM fermented as feedstuffs as well as the effect on feed digestibility of tilapia. This research consisted of 2 trials: the the test of S. cerevisiae fermentation on PKM and digestibility test of PKM as feedstuffs. The first trial used a factorial randomized design consisting of 2 factors: S. cerevisiae dose (0; 0.9; 1.5%) and incubation time (0, 24, 48 hours) with 3 replications. The second trial used a completely randomized design consisting of 3 treatment of test feed, namely A: reference feed, B: reference feed + PKM, C: reference feed + PKM fermented and 4 replications. Fish (initial weight: 5.34 ± 0.14 g) were reared in an aquarium for 40 days with a recirculation system. The results showed that the fermented of 1.5% S. cerevisiae and time incubation for 24 hours recorded the lowest crude fiber content (8.86 ± 0.51%). The highest total digestibility value (P <0.05) was found in treatment A (45.36 ± 2.17%) and C (46.61 ± 2.36%) compared to treatment B (38.46 ± 1, 07%). The highest protein digestibility value significantly (P <0.05) was found in treatments A and C (72.89 ± 4.57%, 74.27±1.26%, respectively) than treatment B (58.70 ± 3.57%). Finally, it can be concluded that the fermentation of PKM by S. cerevisiae can be used as feedstuffs for tilapia feed.

Abstract

Oryzias woworae is an endemic fish of Sulawesi. This endemic fish naturally had faced endangered illegal and unlawful capture, therefore it is needed to be protected and conserved by a cultivation system. This research aims to provide basic information related to the cultivation of O. woworae to know the optimum salinity of hatching media and its influence on the hatchability of eggs and the length of time hatching O. woworae. This research was conducted using experimental methods and presented descriptively. The treatment used in this study is 0 ppt, 2-4 pt, 6-8 ppt, 10-12 ppt. The results showed that O. woworae eggs can hatch in salinity 0 ppt until 10-12 ppt and the best salinity for the length of hatching time is treatment of 2-4 ppt which is 7th day 14 hours 20 minutes. Treatment 0 ppt, 2-4 ppt and 6-8 ppt can reach 100%. This can be concluded that the optimum salinity of the hatching rate of Oryzias woworae until 6-8 ppt, but in treatment 10-12 ppt hatchability only gets 80% as some embryos become shrinking. Hatchability per day shows the treatment of 2-4 ppt is the best treatment, on the 7th day as much as 40% and on the 8th day as much as 40%. The optimal salinity for hatching O. woworae eggs is  2-4 ppt treatment, salinity that can expedite the length of hatching time and produce  hatching rate by 100%.

Abstract

This research was conducted to evaluate the effect of prebiotics addition in feed-based feedstuffs locally on growth and feed digestibility of tilapia. Tilapia (5.19 ± 0.01 g) were reared with a density of 20 fish/container for 45 days. The study consisted of 3 treatments (control, 0.5% prebiotic, 1% prebiotic) with 4 replications.Moringa leaf meal, lamtoro leaf meal and rice bran were used in this study as the local feedstuffs, while the prebiotics used were sweet potato extract. The results showed that the total digestibility and specific growth rate were higher (P<0.05) in prebiotic addition compared to controls. 1% prebiotics treatment showed the best value of protein digestibility (78.24 ± 3.97), specific growth rate (1.57 ± 0.02) and feed efficiency (39.13 ± 0.76) than the other treatments.

Abstract

Banyuresmi village is a national priority rural area that is dared in Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province. Limited facilities and infrastructure, especially the lack of water supply have resulted in a lack of carrying capacity for economic growth based on local potential. Banyuresmi Village Community also has not been able to manage natural resources optimally. Optimization of natural resources can be done in an integrated manner in the yard of the house through aquaponics technology. The application of aquaponics technology can be used as a solution to the problems found in Banyuresmi Village so that the food needs of its citizens can be fulfilled so that the creation of food independence. Community service activities include increasing knowledge of aquaponic technology through training and implementation of aquaponic cultivation. The implementation of community service activities uses the Participatory Rular Appraisal (PRA) method, Participatory Technology Development (PRD), persuasive and educative approaches. The results of knowledge measurement showed an increase in knowledge, incorporation of cultivation, and fertilization with fish droppings to 65-70%. Catfish harvest in aquaponic cultivation reaches 91 kg with a maintenance period of 3 months. Besides fish, harvest vegetables such as kale, baby romaine, cuisine, and lettuce.

Abstract. Rubber seed Hevea brasiliensis contains relatively high oil and potentially used in a diet as sources of fatty acid  and  energy  as  well.  A  study,  therefore,  was  conducted  in  the  aim  of  evaluating  the  use  of  rubber  seed  oil  as  a substitution  of  soybean  oil  in  the  diet  for  increasing  growth  performance  of  common  carp.  The  treatments  were  the substitution of rubber seed oil to soybean oil at a respectived level of 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%, each treatment had three replications. Test diet contained Cr2O3 as digestibility indicator. After acclimatization, common carp fingerling of 3.55 ± 0.00 g in average weight was randomly stocked in 15 aquaria of 69x29x35 cm3 in dimension size containing 50 L water  at  15  fingerlings  per  aquarium  and  fed  iso-protein  and  iso-energy  test  diet  at  satiation  for  40  days  of  the experimental period. Feces in each tank were collected at day 3 for 15 days. Parameters tested were digestibilities of total and fat, diet consumption, growth, protein/fat retention, and survival. The results showed that the more increase rate of substitution  of  rubber  seed  oil  in  the  diet,  the  more  significantly  declining  diet  digestibility  and  growth  performance  of common carp (P0.05). It is concluded that the substitution of rubber seed oil to soybean oil as much as 25% in diet resulted in the highest diet digestibility and growth performance of common carp.Keywords: Common carp, Digestibility, Rubber Seed Oil, Soybean Oil, Growth Performance Abstrak.  Biji  karet Hevea brasiliensi  mengandung lemak  relatif  tinggi  dan berpotensi  digunakan  dalam pakan  ikan  sebagai sumber  asam lemak  dan  energi. Uji kecernaan dilakukan selama 15 hari  dan  uji  pertumbuhan  selama  40  hari.  Parameter  uji  yang  digunakan  adalah  kecernaan  total  dan lemak,  konsumsi  pakan,  pertumbuhan,  retensi  protein/lemak  dan  sintasan.  Hasil  penelitian menunjukkan  bahwa  semakin  meningkat  substitusi  minyak  biji  karet,  secara  nyata  semakin  menurun kecernaan  pakan  dan kinerja pertumbuhan  ikan mas  (P0,05).  Oleh karena itu substitusi minyak biji karet  terhadap  minyak  kedelai  sampai  dengan  25%  menghasilkan  kecernaan  pakan  dan  kinerja pertumbuhan ikan mas terbaik.Kata Kunci: Ikan mas, Kecernaan, Minyak biji karet, Minyak kedelai, Pertumbuhan

Abstract

Betta fish (Betta splendens) are ornamental fish that have a unique color and high economic value. The aim of this research was to evaluate the addition of different doses of S. platensis in feed on color brightness and growth of betta fish. Betta fish (length of 32±4.4 mm) were maintained in containers with a volume of 4 liters at a density of 1 fish/container for 35 days and feeding is done twice a day at satiation. This research consisted of 4 treatments adding different doses of S. platensis in the feed and 5 repetitions, namely: P1: adding S. platensis 0%, P2: adding S. platensis 1%, P3: adding S. platensis 1.5%, and P4: addition of S. platensis 2%. The research results showed that the carotenoids contained in S. platensis are 737.16 ppm/50 g. The addition of S. platensis in feed can improve the color quality of betta fish but does not affect the growth of betta fish. The addition of 1.5% S. platensis in the feed produced the highest values in the parameters of color brightness (9.1 in the 4th week), color diversity (body 62.54%, base of tail 59.52% and tail 61 .22%), and chromatophore cell area (673000 µm2).
