Abstract

Abstract- Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) is the largest business executor to the Indonesia’s national Product Domestic Bruto (PDB). It contribute 59.8% to the total of PDB, according to the government data related to MSME period 2011-2012. Due to the size of the company, it is inevitable that MSME required to have an efficient workflow and material purchasing in order to minimize the costs and create a better margin in profit. MSME in fashion industry is one of the most promising business ventures, an apparel outsourcing called Grooveline is one of those.  Grooveline is a company which offer the service of T-shirt manufacturing that can be ordered according to customer’s wishes in term of design, color, image to be printed, fabrics, and size. Based on the interview with the company’s owner and manager, it was obtained that it is important for Grooveline apparel outsourcing company to be able to fulfil their customer’s demand. These objective, however, inhibited by the problem of the company’s inability to determine what materials should be purchased and how much the need is, and the problem of the company’s inability to make a production planning in order to fulfill the customer demand in the right amount and on the right time. Thus, a calculation of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) of each product produced is crucial to the business in order to design an effective purchasing order. The implementation of the aforementioned plan shall prevent the company from wasting materials and to conduct a more effective production and lead a more profitable business. The requirement that need to be met in order to make a calculation of MRP,  are the availability of product structure, Master Production Schedule, Bills of Material, purchasing and production lead time, a time phased structure, Gross Material Requirement, a lot sizing and net material requirement. The final calculation of MRP requirement are being totaled and being compared to the actual purchasing data that the company has performed to satisfy the previous demand. This action is conducted in order to show how much efficiency the company can create when performing MRP from the beginning of period. Result of the total calculation has shown that if company has implemented MRP from the beginning, company can save the amount of Rp 4,459,500,- in price and make saving of 11%.  Keywords: Cost Efficiency, Apparel Outsourcing, Material Requirement Planning, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)

Abstract

Abstract: The topic of this research is scheduling planning because Pertiwi Land, a property development company, is facing schedule lateness in their projects. This research aims to identify the root cause problem of schedule lateness and to solve it using appropriate scheduling planning methods. This research is conducted using qualitative research method. The data are retrieved from documents studies of previous projects and in-depth interviews to company’s key stakeholders. The object of this research is limited to one unit standard 36-type housing construction as the object mostly built in the projects. In the analysis, researcher identifies the root cause problem using 5-Whys method and uses a set of work breakdown structure (WBS), critical path method (CPM), and program evaluation and review technique (PERT) as proposed solutions. The cause of schedule lateness is the existing scheduling planning method that plans for directly a group of construction objects, thus makes it undetailed and more difficult to be controlled in execution. To address the problem that the company faces, the recommendations are to use more detail scheduling planning methods, supervise the critical activities identified more attentively, take corrective actions once schedule lateness occurs, and arrange the construction contract carefully using probability as reasonable assurance. Abstract

Abstract. Having a balanced ratio between supply and demand is important in running business. Hence, to have a balanced ratio of supply and demand, a firm could control its supply input in order to adapt its supply with the demand level. When the level of mismatch between supply and demand are very high, it will create subsequent level of inventory. Which, is considered as waste in the practices of lean operations. Thus, to eliminate the over-amount of stocks or inventory, forecasting the demand level for products could be the response. However, the outcome of the forecasting method would not stand a chance minimizing all the operational obstacles of a firm if it does not have any support. Material Requirement Planning (MRP) can provide the considerations of lead time. This research conducted a case study in PT XYZ, which is a distributor of In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) technology supplies in Indonesia. This company has experienced problems with overstocks and losses due to the problem of mismatch between supply and demand.  Moreover, the firm has not applied a methodized demand forecasting system. Thus, this research’s aim is to determine the suitable forecasting method for the firm. Besides the forecast method, this research also enhances the application of MRP to provide a better understanding of procurement decisions. Taking the positives from this paper will hope to add up to the learning curve of a developing company with a comparable business model in medical or other industries with similar characteristics. Keywords: demand forecasting, MRP, In-Vitro Fertilization, medical technology, case study.

Abstract

According to the global economy, On 2017, Badan Pusat Statistik stated that, the consumption of fruit and vegetables until 2016, showed that almost all of Indonesian citizen which is 97,29 percent of them consumed vegetables.PT. XYZ seen this situation as their opportunities to run their business activities. The company are planning to produce agricultural product such as vegetables, specifically carrot. To stabilize the harvesting process, PT. XYZ will applied multiple crop rotation method. The company decide the supporting plants will be sweet corn and scallion. To develop and present an optimization model of production planning, project scheduling will applied as the tool to demonstrate the production planning.Construct schedule in production planning, developing linear programming is needed to create the mathematical model. Before build the model, several data that related to the model require to be gathered. According to Darst (1990), there are three components involved to formulate linear programming into a model, which are specify the decision variables, constraints and the objective function. Subsequently the completed model can be running in software named MATLAB. The result from processing in MATLAB, shows the amount of required land and the pattern of rotation so the company could meet the weekly demand of each commodities for time period 52 weeks. From the final result, it can concluded that PT. XYZ need 1,893 ha so the company could fulfil the weekly demand of each commodities and so the rotation system could be performed based on principle of rotation system For more specifically 60 plotting area with each area has sizes for ±315 m2 are needed to utilized. Keywords: Agriculture, multiple cropping rotation, optimisation method, scheduling, linear programming, mathematical model, gantt chart"

Abstract

Background: One of the important stages before starting production activities is production planning. The company have to calculated the product completion time. The delay in production will reduce customer trust because the company can not fulfill the customer demand. While, if the production completed early, it will increasing holding cost. To making the appropriate production planning, an accurate forecast is needed in order to prevent excess and insufficient amount of production then make the appropriate production planning through master production schedule. PT.Rekayasa Agri Utama(RAU) is a company engaged in the agribusiness industry, which was established to produce and distribute probiotic microbes with the SIMBA trademark. Currently, PT. RAU is facing inventory buildup because they did not yet have a good production scheduling system and demand forecasting system. So the purpose of this study is to determine the appropriate demand forecasting system in Degra Simba products at PT. RAU and determine the quantity of production, and quantity of safety stock. Methods: To determine the forecasting system that is in accordance with PT.RAU, this study uses a demand forecasting method which is included in the Time Series Analysis category. Each demand forecasting method is compared with the actual demand, so the method that is most suitable for PT.RAU is a method that has the smallest error value. After determining the most suitable forecasting method, then to overcome the problem of inventory accumulation this research also makes aggregate planning for company used the strategy which has the lowest cost for company. Results: The results of the study show that the forecasting method that is most suitable with PT.RAU is the Moving Average method because the method has the smallest error. By using this model, it indicates that data demand on Degra Simba has no trends or seasonal. Inventory buildup that occurs in the company can be overcome by making an aggregate planning using the aggregate planning strategy which has the lowest cost that is linear programming strategy. By applying linear programming strategy PT. RAU can save Rp230,709,900.Conclusion: PT.RAU should apply the moving average method as a demand forecasting system and Linear Programming Strategy as their production planning. Keywords: forecasting demand, production planning, aggregate planning, linear programming strategy, degra simba.

Abstract

Abstract. In the early spring of 2020, most governments around the world have temporarily closed educational institutions to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the current condition, most universities  around the world change their system from conventional to online learning (e-learning). An alternative to a learning method that can be used in e-learning is gamification or game-based learning. The study aims to see the effect of the gamified method on learning outcomes related to transportation mode in the supply chain. The method is exploring the differences of student knowledge using methods built from the flow model, study- related flow inventory (WOLF-S) measurement. The study analyzed changes from pre-test to post-test, as a representation of learning outcomes, using t-test analysis. Furthermore, continue evaluating the significance of gamification, or suggested by the presence of flow, against adjusting the score using the Spearman’s correlation. Data analysis shows that there is a significant improvement in score test, and there is a positive correlation of gamification method against learning outcomes achievement. Using the flow theory and measured by study-related flow inventory (WOLF-S) has proven the gamification method is important in increasing in achieving learning outcomes. The WOLF-S score also has a positive correlation with a positive change in the score of learning outcomes. In general, the gamification design is can improve in achieving learning outcomes. Keywords: COVID-19; gamification; supply chain; transportation; WOLF-S
