Abstract

Applicaton of waste minimizing can be executed through effort of production optimizing thatis implemented through Recycling, Reuse and or Recovery. In the hierarchy of wastemanagement, waste minimizing is the primary strategy in management of waste. Finding approachof management of waste which is able to suppress the amount of wastes yielded by husk industryproduct process of Magetan as optimal as possible, so that in the end can create a management ofenvironment that able to prevent the happening of damage of environment.Existence of optimation of chemicals usage in UD Sumber Kulit quality of yielded waste waterbefore optimation with rate = 90,09 mg / lt and COD = 225,4 mg / lt, after optimation was donequality of yielded waste water go down for BOD = 80,75 mg / lt and COD = 204,77 mg / lt. Withdegradation efficiency for BOD = 9,34 % and COD = 20,63 %.Execution effort of waste minimization of each production process through optimalizing ofusage of chemicals such as : prasoaking and soaking of NaOH 0,25 %, max rate = 0,1 - 0,2 %.effort of optimation 0,05% and Na2S liming 4,5 %, max rate = 2 - 4 %. effort of optimation = 0,5% from raw husk weight ± 8,64 excessive weight.Keywords : waste minimitation, optimation, waste of husk

Abstract

Bak pengendap sirkular memiliki beberapa keunggulan secara teknis jika dibandingkan dengan bak rectangular. Oleh karena aplikasinya yang masih digunakan dibeberapa PDAM di Indonesia, maka penelitian ini juga menguji pola pengendapan flok dalam bak pengendap sirkular dengan menggunakan Model HP2S Model matematika yang berdasarkan pada persamaan kontinuitas dan momentum, yaitu salah satunya adalah Model HP2S dapat menjadi alternatif untuk mengamati pola pengendapan flok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tingkat penerapan Model HP2S terhadap pengendapan flok pada bak pengendap berbentuk sirkular serta menganalisa pola pengendapaan flok pada proses sedimentasi jika dianalisa dengan Model HP2S. Model matematika pengendapan flok dibentuk berdasarkan struktur Model HP2S dengan y=0 dan divisualisasi dalam bahasa Matlab dengan input data dari hasil running model fisik. Hasil running Model HP2S untuk bak sedimentasi sirkular menunjukkan pola yang sama  pada setiap variasi debit dan variasi jenis koagulan. Pola yang didapatkan yaitu mulai dari inlet sampai menuju outlet, kecepatan aliran horisontal (u), NRe dan NFr semakin menurun, kecepatan pengendapan (w) semakin meningkat, konsentrasi kekeruhan (c) semakin menurun. Hal ini akibat pengaruh aliran yang laminer dan pengaruh massa lebih dominan dalam kondisi aliran laminer sehingga partikel cenderung untuk mengendap.Kata kunci: Model HP2S,pengendap sirkular, pengendapan flok.

Abstract

ABSTRAKProgram Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini memiliki tujuan: 1) peningkatan kemampuan kewirausahaan santriwan-santriwati Pondok Pesantren Babussalam  melalui potensi kemampuan membuat Desain Batik digital dan Blogspot, 2) peningkatan kesejahteraan santri dan pesantren yang lebih baik melalui pemanfaatan sumber daya yang memiliki nilai ekonomi, 3) terbentuknya usaha ekonomi pesantren dan kelembagaan yang terstruktur melalui unit usaha pesantren, 4) peningkatan kemampuan santri dan pesantren untuk melakukan diversifikasi produk. Kegiatan ini menggunakan dua pendekatan yaitu pendekatan pelatihan dan pendampingan. Pendekatan pelatihan meliputi : 1) Pelatihan Kewirausahaan; 2) Pelatihan dasar-dasar desain grafis, 3) Pelatihan digitalisasi desain batik, 4) Pelatihan pemanfaatan blogspot untuk media pemasaran. Sedangkan metode pendampingan meliputi :1) Pendampingan penguatan sumber daya manusia melalui peningkatan pemasaran, manajemen, dan motivasi berwirausaha; 2) Pendampingan pembentukan kelembagaan Unit Usaha Pesantren. Diharapkan hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah terwujudnya unit usaha pesantren dalam bidang batik dengan motif kekhasan yang diangkat dari motif sains, semakin meningkatnya jiwa wirausaha dan manajemen pada santri, serta peningkatan kemampuan pemasaran melalui media online. Kata kunci: corelDraw; blogspot; kewirausahaan; pendampingan. ABSTRACTThis Community Service Program has the following objectives: 1) increasing the entrepreneurial abilities of the Babussalam Islamic Boarding School students through the potential ability to create digital Batik Designs and Blogspots, 2) improving the welfare of students and pesantren through the utilization of resources that have economic value, 3) formation of the pesantren economic business and structured institutions through pesantren business units, 4) increasing the ability of santri and pesantren to diversify products. This activity uses two approaches, namely the training and mentoring approach. The training approach includes: 1) Entrepreneurship Training; 2) Basic graphic design training, 3) Batik design digitization training, 4) Training on the use of Blogspot for marketing media. While the mentoring methods include: 1) Assistance in strengthening human resources through increased marketing, management, and entrepreneurial motivation; 2) Assistance in the institutional formation of the Islamic Boarding School Business Unit. It is hoped that the results of this community service activity are the realization of a pesantren business unit in the field of batik with a unique motif that is lifted from a scientific motif, increasing entrepreneurial spirit and management in students, as well as increasing marketing skills through online media. Keywords: corelDraw; blogspot; entrepreneurship; accompaniment.

Abstract

Waste management is one of the actionsof environmental management for improving environmental quality. This study describes the waste management in the campus through improvement of operational techniques, starting from container, collection, and transportation. Case study was taken in the university, which the amount of waste generation is about 166.559 kg/day or 0.013 L/person/day. The waste collection system is designed to use individual disaggregated sorting patterns that are adjusted to the composition of the waste, colour differentiation, and label of the container. Amount of sorted containers are 478 pieces. The waste collection system is planned by an indirect individual collection pattern and a temporary shelter plan in the form of a partition wall is adjusted to the composition of the waste. Planning for waste transportation system is using a fixed container system with motor cart under capacity of 2.3 m3 with 1 fleet. Transportation is carried out on a scheduled basis. Transportation management is arranged twice per-day for organic waste, once per-day for valuable waste, once per-week for hazardous waste, once every 2 days for other water. Transportation schedule is carried out twice per-day, in the morning and evening.

Abstract

Dissolved organic matter (DOM), which is part of of natural organic matter or NOM, contained of carbon compound and can cause problems related to taste, odor, and disinfection by-products (DBPs) in water and treated water. Permanganate is strong oxidant and have been know its efficiency in oxidazing organic compound. Coagulation is most widely used in all water treatment plant due to its efficiency in removing suspended solid. The objectives of this study is to characterize and to remove natural organic matter in term of  DOM  in water through KMnO4 preoxidation, Al2(SO4)3 or FeCl3 coagulation, KMnO4 preoxidation followed by Al2(SO4)3 or FeCl3 coagulation. Raw water, which was taken from Jagir River in Surabaya, and treated water were measured quantitatively by using total organic carbon (TOC), ultraviolet at wavelength 254 nm (UV254) in order to know its aromatic properties. In addition, fourier transfor m infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to identify the functional group of DOM in water and treated water. The results showed that raw water has high TOC concentration (6,9 mg/L) and mainly composed of aromatic (UV254 0.075 cm-1). The optimum result showed that TOC concentration and UV254 removed significantly into 4,2 mg/L and 0,0020 cm-1, respectively after preoxidation followed by FeCl3 coagulation. According to FTIR analysis, mostly single bond carbon such as C-O and C-H still exist in treated water. This results indicated that preoxidation-coagulation has a better performance than preoxidation only and coagulation only.
