Abstract

Mayoritas mahasiswa kesulitan dalam menerapkan konsep dinamika fluida versi Anderson. Disisi lain praktikum dinamika fluida sangat membutuhkan persamaan matematis sebagai dasar pengukuran laju fluida. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui persamaan laju air representatif untuk konsep dinamika fluida. Penelitian memakai pendekatan analisis deskriptif sebagai representasi dari kegiatan menerapkan konsep versi Anderson dalam sebuah desain peralatan praktikum dinamika fluida sederhana. Desain peralatan praktikum melibatkan 3 tipe sambungan pipa diameter berbeda, 1 bejana terbuka berisi air, dan 2 selang (manometer) berisi raksa. Pengukuran laju air meliputi 2 keadaan antara, yaitu “aliran tepat mulai berlangsung” dan “aliran telah berlangsung dalam waktu tertentu”. Titik referensi pengukuran laju air meliputi permukaan air dalam bejana terbuka, di sepanjang sumbu pipa pertama, dan di sepanjang sumbu pipa kedua. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 9 temuan persamaan laju air teoritis, hanya 7 yang direkomendasikan sebagai persamaan laju air representatif.

Abstract

The role of school laboratories is vital in helping junior high school students learn science. Many schools have laboratory facilities but are underutilized. This study aims to optimize the role of school laboratories through action research. In three cycles, the writer carried out the SMP Negeri 2 Metro research and SMP Negeri 6 Metro. The first cycle carried out technical guidance to the laboratory manager. Still, the results were not as expected due to communication problems to understand the principal's importance of incomplete laboratory improvement. The second cycle is carried out by mentoring the laboratory management. This includes the making of the laboratory management, inventory, and labeling, and creating work programs. This cycle two treatment also has not shown the results as expected. The reflection results found that the root of the problem was that the teachers and the laboratory manager believed that practicum activities needed time. So, it had to be carried out outside of class hours to require additional time, effort, and cost. To overcome this problem, in the third cycle, a workshop on making a practicum guide and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of practicum was developed according to the lesson schedule, then a trial was conducted. Data collection uses documentary, interview, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) methods to explore the root of the problem and the solution. Data processing uses a qualitative approach with steps: data collection, selection, and grouping, tabulation, description, interpretation, and conclusions. Based on the results of action research data analysis, it can be concluded: First, management improvement and inventory of laboratory tools and materials as well as making practical SOPs, which are effective in optimizing the role of science laboratories in supporting the learning process; Second, the use of SOP practicum according to the lesson schedule is quite efficient in saving time, effort, and costs. According to the results of this study, it is recommended that for the laboratory to be optimal in supporting learning, laboratory management must be orderly equipped with SOPs, and inventory of tools and materials must be good.

Abstract

There is rationality to the importance of developing students' critical thinking skills. It is possible to integrate direct presentation, concept formation, and concept attainment in a single learning approach. There is essence, functionality, and urgency of dynamic fluid concept for polytechnic students. The objective of the research is to produce a conceptual learning teaching model of dynamic fluid topic and to know its impact on strengthening students' critical thinking skill. Research subjects were 28 students, IB Class, Mechanical Engineering Study Program, DIII, Bandung State Polytechnic.. The study used quasi-experimental methods, and one group pre-test post-test design. Research instruments include lesson plans, LKM, PG questions, and questionnaires. Data analysis used statistical test, gain normalization, and descriptive analysis. The results show that the concept teaching approach on the topic of dynamic fluid has strengthened students' critical thinking skills significantly. The student's response to the overall concept teaching approach is quite good. The steps of concept teaching approach and the development of critical thinking skills are felt by the students quite easily, whereas the dynamic fluid material is considered difficult.

Abstract

The research objective is to determine the results of optimization of water rate measurements in the arrangement of simple fluid dynamics experimental equipment. The study used an experimental method based on 5 theoretical equations. The research shows that the optimization of measurements can only be done on the study of changes in water surface position, differences in diameter pairs, differences in the diameter of the second pipe, and differences in pump conditions. The results of water rate measurements for references 0, 1, and 2, respectively, have a specific tendency for the study of changes in physical quantities and, or differences in the associated physical conditions. The mean coefficient of determination by the surface height to the reference rate of 0 is 58%, with respect to the reference rates 1 and 2, respectively 76% and 73%. By the difference in diameter with reference rate 2 based on equations (3) and (5), they are 94% and 74%, respectively.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan pemahaman konsep, sub pemahaman konsep, dan persepsi mahasiswa terhadap efektivitas pembelajaran getaran harmonis berbasis video. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuasi-eksperimen dengan desain pretest post test group control. Subyek penelitian adalah mahasiswa kelas 1A sebagai kelas kontrol dan mahasiswa kelas 1B sebagai kelas eksperimen dari Program Studi DIII Teknik Aeronautika, Politeknik Negeri Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (i) rerata skor peningkatan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, masing-masing 42.0% dan 17.5%, dengan signifikansi dibawah 5%; (ii) rerata skor peningkatan kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol untuk sub pemahaman mengenal konsep, masing-masing 31.4% dan 3.6%, dengan signifikansi dibawah 5%, untuk sub pemahaman menjelaskan konsep, masing-masing 56.5% dan 29.4%, dengan signifikansi dibawah 5% dan untuk sub pemahaman menginterpretasi konsep, masing-masing 37.3% dan 14.7%, dengan signifikansi dibawah 5%. (iii) persepsi mahasiswa kelas eksperimen terhadap efektivitas pembelajaran getaran harmonis berbasis video adalah 3.2 skala Likert, dengan kategori diantara baik dan sangat baik. Pembelajaran pada kelas eksperimen lebih efektif dibanding pembelajaran pada kelas kontrol. Pembelajaran Fisika baik di tingkat sekolah menengah seperti SMP, SMA, dan SMK maupun Tahun Pertama Perkuliahan Fisika Perguruan Tinggi sebaiknya juga memanfaatkan video-video pembelajaran, yang bersumber dari http://youtube.com

Abstract

This study aims to find out: (i) video-based vibration learning model from http://youtube.com to improve concept understanding; (ii) the feasibility of the learning model; and (iii) strengths and weaknesses of the learning model. Research using the R&D approach includes 4 phases. The results showed: (i) the learning model was divided into: preliminary phases, core activities, and closing phases, containing objectives, sequence of material, and discussion based on student questions; (ii) an expert assesses the model is correct in the category: "in scope of concept" and "truth of concept"; (iii) Students in the limited trials I and II, respectively, judging by the categories between:  "good enough and good ", and  "good and very good"; (iv) strength: the scope of the concept is comprehensive, easy to access and repeat, saves lecturers' power, and references to 1 sub-topic are available from several varied videos; (v) weaknesses: learning 1 sub topic is still in the form of file compilation, Indonesian language references are limited, and the purpose of learning videos is binding.

Abstract

The usefulness of the concept of alternating current is very functional for polytechnic students because it provides a basic theory of the production and use of electrical energy. At the Bandung Polytechnic Physics Laboratory, the oscilloscope practicum does not seem to have comprehensively verified the concept of alternating current. Understanding the concept of alternating current has become an urgent need and an indicator of the success of the learning process of Physics for graduates of DIII and DIV of several Bandung State Polytechnic study programs. The main objective of the research is to produce an oscilloscope practicum module that is able to support the learning of the concept of alternating current for Bandung State Polytechnic students through the optimization of the functions of existing equipment and the procurement of new equipment. Through the R & D approach (preliminary study, the design phase, development stage, and validation stage) have produced 2 digital oscilloscope practicum modules, which are assisted by Hantek-DSO-2090. The test results show: the two modules are able to verify the concept of alternating current; practicum with modules has a significant effect on increasing understanding of the concept of alternating current students; practicum module received positive responses from almost all students; and working on practicum modules is felt easy by students even though the material is considered difficult.

Abstract

The study aim is to determine the profile of learning outcomes of resistor circuits experiment (RCE), before and after reconditioning learning facilities (job-sheet). Component of learning outcomes of type I includes the ability to accomplish a task preliminary, observational data and calculations, questions answer, sources of error, conclusions, and a bibliography, before and after reconditioning job-sheet. Component of learning outcomes of type II includes increased understanding of resistor circuits concepts (N-Gain) and their retention. The concept includes the experiment goals, KCL, KVL, Ohm's Law, and the nature of circuits. The subjects were students of Class I Prodi Energy Conservation D-IV POLBAN. The research activities carried out consist of in five phases: preparation, data collecting, data processing and analysing, discussion and formulation of conclusions. The research result shows RCE before reconditioning job-sheets that gave the highest learning outcomes type I on observational data and calculations, followed by preliminary tasks, questions answer, a bibliography, conclusions, and the lowest was the source of error. After reconditioning job-sheet, the highest of learning outcomes type I happened at observational data and calculations, followed by preliminary tasks, question answers, sources of error, a bibliography, and the lowest is the conclusion. The overall learning outcomes of type I, after reconditioning job-sheet, is better than before reconditioning job-sheet, with N-Gain is 12%. N-Gain of learning outcomes of type II before reconditioning job-sheet, is the highest on Ohm's Law, the nature of circuit, KVL, KCL, and the lowest is on experimental purposes. N-Gain of learning outcomes of type II after reconditioning job-sheet, is the highest on the nature of circuit, the experiment purpose, Ohm's Law, KCL and the lowest is on the KVL. The overall N-Gain of learning outcomes of type II, before reconditioning job-sheet of 27% and after reconditioning job-sheet of 25%. Retention of learning outcomes of type I has the same pattern as type II, both before and after reconditioning job-sheet, which is likely to increase. Abstract

The study aim is to determine the usefulness of the concept and design of experiments Bernoulli's Law in Proficiency Basic Courses (PBC) of Applied Physics at the Polytechnic. The place of research is in POLBAN. The study begins review of PBC syllabus of Applied Physics and Prodi Proficiency Courses (PPC) syllabus at the Department of Engineering, who gets service PBC of Applied Physics. Continued with questionnaire to lecturers PPC is 3 DIII and 3 DIV. To deepen the contents of the questionnaire, we conducted interviews to informants. Data were analyzed to measure: usefulness of Bernoulli's Law concepts in the PBC of applied physics and PPC syllabus, PPC lecturer opinion about needs of Bernoulli's Law concept in PBC of Applied Physics, the necessity of deepening through experiments and experimental design characteristics. The study results showed 11 prodi of 24 prodi in engineering majors, inserts the concept of Bernoulli's Law into the applied physics syllabus, all research subjects insert the concept of Bernoulli's Law in the one of PPC syllabus, overall interviewees believe it is needed to be taught the concept of Bernoulli's Law in PBC of Applied Physics, and 67% informants believe it is necessary for deepening through experimentation. Characteristic of the expected experimental design is capable of generating student competence in measuring the speed and pressure of the flow in the pipes of various sizes. The ideal approach, requirement, and limits of the enforceability of Bernoulli's Law can be used as the basis of design of experiments. Abstract

Penelitian tentang analisis respon mahasiswa jurusan teknik mesin angkatan 2020 Politeknik Negeri Bandung terhadap penggunaan aplikasi Phet Simulation pada praktikum keseimbangan telah dilakukan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisa respon penerimaan mahasiswa dan menguji kebermanfaatan aplikasi Phet Simulation pada praktikum keseimbangan mata kuliah fisika terapan. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan merupakan penelitian pengembangan. Adapun metode yang digunakan diantaranya studi pengembangan modul praktikum momen gaya dan keseimbangan, pembuatan modul disertai video pengantar petunjuk praktikum, pengujian modul oleh mahasiswa, dan survey respon mahasiswa menggunakan kuisioner. Survey yang dilakukan terdiri dari survey pilihan persetujuan dan survey tanggapan verbal tertulis. Berdasarkan hasil survey dapat disimpulkan 82,8% mahasiswa jurusan Teknik Mesin Politeknik Negeri Bandung menerima dan merasakan manfaat penggunaan aplikasi Phet Simulation pada kegiatan perkuliahan praktikum keseimbangan mata kuliah fisika terapan.
