Abstract

Bird is fauna that can be found from low land up to the upland. The widespread has made birds as potencial  natural wealth source of Indonesia. Sulawesi is an area which has a large number of endemic species, and the most various one in Wallacea area.  Besides its role as an ecosystem balance, bird is also an indicator of environmental change. The forest area of Namo village was one of the bird habitats of primary foreSigi District. The objective of the research was to find out the spread pattern of birds species in the forest of Namo village Kulawi subdistrict Sigi District. The method applied was Point Index Of Abundance (IPA-Count). The data Analysis was done by using Morisita Index (I ), the research applied random method by eight spots. The research was conducted on December 2015 up to the month of February 2016, it was locatec in forest area of namo village Kulawi Subdistrict Sigi District. Based on the result of the research it showed that there were 19 species that represented 13 families in populationof 50 individual. Morisita Index (I ) found that there were 9 species of birds with group spread pattern and only 3 species with similar spread pattern, beside that there were 7 species which spread pattern could not be analized because of individual abundance of each species within one individual. Keywords: Distribution, Birds, Forest

Abstract

Pasoso Island is one of the islands located in the Makassar Strait. Although this area was made a conservation area because of the presence of the two sea turtles species, but other animals’ life on the Pasoso Island are also important, such as avivauna (birds) which can be found in significant amounts. Birds are wild animals that live in nature and have an important role in preserving the environment, such as pest control, seed dispersers and pollinators. The suitable environment that is considered as a habitat for birds would provide food, shelter and breeding grounds for birds. This study was conducted from September to November 2014 with the composition of bird species, the presence, diversity, evenness and the presence in the area of primary forest in Pasoso Island Balesang Tanjung sub district of Donggala district. Method used for data collecting on the area of primary forest in the region of Pasoso Island Wildlife was transect method, and the length was 500m transect. Abstract

Few studies have explicitly determine classification on bird community in nature reserve areas in Central Sulawesi. Here in, we reported upon the results of bird community classification, species composition and similarity index in Tinombala Nature Reserve area, Mepanga district, Parigi Moutong, Central Sulawesi. The study was conducted on may through june 2013.The birds composition was recorded by using Index Point of Abundance (IPA-count) method. Studies were conducted in four bird habitat types, i.e; along river (watershed area) ± 822m above sea level(LS: 00º 35' 38,1"- BT: 120º 40' 22,3"), garden ± 785m (LS: 00º 35' 2,1"- BT: 120º 41' 32,8"), secondary forest ± 1045m (LS: 00º 35' 14,1 "- BT: 120º 40' 24,4"), and primary forest ± 1104m dpl (LS: 00 º 37’ 51,0" - BT: 120º 40' 4,5"). The result showed that the bird species found at four habitat types were as many as 23 families with 41 species of birds and total number of bird was 210 individual bird. Close bird habitat classification was founded between habitat watershed area and primary forest with value 14,24. The highest similarity index was achieved by Mullerpicus fulvus, Macropygia amboinensis, Hypothimis azurea, Oriolus chinensis, and Dicaeum celebicum. Keywords: Classification, Bird Community, Tinombala Nature Reserve.

Abstract

Rangkong (Famili Bucerotidae) often known as allo bird by people is ripe fruit specialit. There is about 69% of its food containing Ficus fruit in breeding season. Association rafers to dependant of one type to another either animal or plant from the low to the high. This reserch aims to find out rangkong association of sulawesi (famili bucerotidae) with tree types of preservation forest area in ensa village. The data were collected through primary and secondary data. The presence of each species will be noted on amount of plot and then it will be put into  contingence table 2 x 2. The result can be proved by using table X2 . the result depends on the plot size because the data comes from the presence frequency. To fine out the is association or not between two types, comparison of Chi-square {X2 counted} with X2 table on degree of freedom = 1.Based on the result by making 25 plots of observation, rangkong was found on 14 observation plots and the analysis result of rangkong species of sulawesi (Rhyticeros cassidix) with tree types on the preservation forest is 15 trees and indicating positive relationship or associate with 3 tree types of association value X2 counted namely beringin (11.9141), nantu (4.3388) and malapoga (4.956995). Abstract

Mangrove is a forest located in coastal area which always or regularly inundated by sea water and affected by the tide but unaffected by the climatic.  The condition of archipelago in Indonesia led to a diverse ecosystem.  In turn the diverse of this ecosystem creates a high diversity of flora and fauna.  Birds are wild animals living in the world and have an important role in preserving the environment, example as a pest controller, a seed disperser and pollinator. Mangrove area in pavilion of Palu city specifically is not known yet about birds’ relationship or dependences on Mangrove in pavilion of Palu city.  The purpose of this research is to know the association of birds and Mangrove around pavilion of Palu city.  This research was conducted for 2 months which started on June-August 2015.  This research used Concentration Counts method with 4 points spread on Mangrove area in pavilion of Palu city.  The observation was made at 05.30 am–07.30 am WITA or at 04.00 pm–06.00 pm WITA.  There were 10 families and 15 species of birds in this research.  The species of birds associated with point X (6.7) were 11 species, X (10.0) were 4 species and X (30.0) were 12 species.   The species of birds that have high association number was the yellow-vented bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier), associated with the pasific swallow (Hirundo Tahitica) and firm associated with the gould’s bronze cuckoo (Chrysococcyx russatus), White-Breasted Waterhen (Amaurornis Phoenicurus), White-Shouldered Triller (Lalage sueurii), lemon-bellied white-eye (Zosterops Chloris) and the zitting cisticola (Cisticola Juncidis). Keywords: Diversity, Association, Bird, Mangrove

Abstract

Maleo bird is a unique wildlife species, particularly in terms of habitat, as it lives around coastal sands, or in the mountain that having any hot spring around. Sands are needed to lay down their eggs into 15 cm in depth for hatching. Conservation problem faced particularly related to decrease in its population was due to eggs collection and habitat destruction (degradation and fragmentation). Eggs exploitation occurs due to the lack of community awareness. Habitat destruction was cause by forest encroachment and illegal logging while the decrease in the size of habitat was mainly due to forest land conversion and illegal farming. Forest conversion causes forest fragmentation leading to maleo nesting ground isolation. The objective of the research was to identify factors causing the decrease in maleo (Macrocephalon maleo) population at Sausu Piore Village, Parigi Moutong District, Central Sulawesi. Multiple Analysis Regression was used to analysed data applying regression equation of Y = a + b1X1 + b2X2 + b3X3 where Y = maleo presence, a = intercept, X1 = the size of forest (m2), X2 = human presence, X3 = vegetation density, b1, b2, b3 are regression coefficient. The results showed that human presence was significantly influenced the decrease of population, while the size of forest and vegetation density were not. Ttable = 3.182 compared to Tcount = 3.820 where showing that human significantly causes the decrease of the population with correlation coeffision of 87.9%. This means 12.1% due to other factors. The obtained regression equation is Y = 62.119 + 4.865 X. Keywords: maleo, population, Sausu Piore
