Abstract

Abstract Diabetes is one of the most common health problems due to its high incidence and complications. One of the complications associated with diabetes is painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy (PDPN). The capsaicin 8% patch is a localized pain treatment that provides effective pain relief from a single application in patients with peripheral neuropathic pain. The aim of this review is to discuss the effect of capsaicin patch 8% in patients with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy. The search strategy was conducted in PubMed and modified for other databases. The search was limited to English-language reports. The keywords used were "capsaicin”, "capsaicin patch", "painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy", and "pain management". The inclusion criteria used were randomized controlled trials (RCTs), clinical trials or another interventional analysis with full text in English with publications less than the last 10 years. The exclusion criteria used were a review, systematic review, or meta-analysis, studies that were not conducted in humans and non-full text in English with publications over the last 10 years. Results: There are 2 full-text that meet inclusion criteria. From articles related to studies that have been conducted, the use of capsaicin 8% patch can reduce pain, improve nerve function and quality of life in PDPN patients. The use of capsaicin 8% patch has the advantage to pain relief for patients with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Abstract

Latar Belakang: Trauma dada adalah cedera yang mengenai rongga dada yang dapat menyebabkan kerusakan pada dinding dada ataupun isi dari rongga dada yang disebabkan oleh benda tajam dan benda tumpul yang dapat menyebabkan terjadinya kondisi kegawatan secara akut. Trauma tumpul merupakan sebab kematian dan mekanisme perlukaan fatal yang berujung pada kematian terbanyak di berbagai negara. Kekerasan tumpul pada kepala dapat mengakibatkan berbagai kelainan seperti patah tulang tengkorak dan perdarahan pada otak Tujuan: Mengidentifikasi penyebab kematian pada korban yang mengalami trauma pada dada dan kepala. Kasus: Seorang wanita muda usia 20 tahun yang meninggal di bunuh oleh pacarnya dengan motif cemburu. Korban dibuang di sawah oleh pelaku dengan kondisi terdapat sekumpulan luka memar pada bagian wajah dan 13 luka terbuka akibat trauma tajam pada bagian leher hingga dada. Dilakukan pemeriksaan luar, pemeriksaan dalam dan pemeriksaan penunjang pada korban tersebut. Ditemukan luka terbuka pada dada akibat kekerasan tajam yang menembus dinding dada, melukai paru sehingga mengakibatkan adanya perdarahan pada rongga dada sebanyak 750ml pada rongga kanan dan 100ml pada rongga dada kiri. Trauma tumpul pada kepala yang menyebabkan perdarahan selaput otak yang mengakibatkan perdarahan minimal pada daerah selaput otak bagian belakang. Kesimpulan: Sebab mati orang ini akibat kekerasan tajam pada dada yang menembus hingga paru sehingga terjadi perdarahan dan diperberat adanya trauma tumpul pada kepala berupa perdarahan dibawah selaput otak.

Abstract

Introduction: Butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea L.) currently popular in society as high-antioxidant supplement. One of the organs affected by aging is the brain. D-galactose is a compound that is widely used for induction of aging in animal studies. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of butterfly pea flower tea on changes in brain weight in mice induced by D-galactose. Method: 24 rats were divided into four groups consisting of control, groups with 1%, 5%, and 10% butterfly pea flower tea intervention after being induced by aging for 6 weeks. The brain organs were then weighed to assess changes in each group. Result: There was an increase in body weight but no significant differences between each group either before or after the intervention. No significant differences were found in the average brain weight of each group, with the brain weight of the P3 group being lower than that of the other intervention groups. There is a positive correlation between body weight and brain weight. Conclusion: Although the butterfly pea flower has no statistically significant effect, at concentrations of 1% and 10% it can have an effect on brain weight after induction of aging by D-galactose.
