Abstract

Hemibagrus nemurus is a local commodity fish that is especially favored by people in South Sumatra, Java and Kalimantan. The low survival rate of H. nemurus in the seed rearing phase is one of the obstacles in developing its cultivation. In this study an environmental modification was carried out in the rearing of H. nemurus seed containers through the addition of aeration and recirculation to increase the growth and survival. The study was conducted at a hatchery of farmers in the Kemang area, West Java. The initial length of seed was 10.1 ± 0.17 mm. The container size used was 300 liters of fiberglass. Stocking density was 10 fish / L. The maintenance period was 1 month. The treatments tested were rearing of seeds in an aquarium using A) Aeration system, B) Recirculation System, and C) Aeration + Recirculation System. The results showed that the use of rearing containers equipped with Aeration + Recirculation system resulted in better growth (29.4 mm) and survival (24.5%) compared to rearing in containers with only aeration or recirculation systems. Key words : Aeration,Growth, Hemibagrus nemurus, Recirculation, Survival rate

Abstract

Ikan tambakan merupakan ikan lokal yang potensial menjadi ikan budidaya. Salah satu proses penting dalam budidaya adalah aspek reproduksi. Penelitian untuk mengetahui karakteristik bioreproduksi tiga generasi ikan tambakan hasil kegiatan domes‘tikasi di Balai Riset Perikanan Budidaya Air Tawar dan Penyuluhan Perikanan, Bogor. Pengujian dilakukan untuk mengetahui posisi gonad, fekunditas, derajat pembuahan, dan derajat penetasan ikan tambakan generasi yang berbeda. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan posisi gonad vertikal mengarah ke tulang belakang, di bagian ujung melengkung ke arah depan dan gonad berada di belakang urogenital. Fekunditas telur/gram bobot ikan yang dihasilkan tidak berbeda antar generasi dengan jumlah berkisar antara 76 ± 13 sampai 83 ± 14 butir. Persentase telur terbuahi dan telur menetas antar generasi juga tidak berbeda, masing-masing berkisar antara antara 70,6 ± 16,05 sampai 92,9 ± 10,88%; dan 51,3 ± 16,64 sampai 74,3 ± 10,32%. Jumlah larva yang dihasilkan juga tidak berbeda nyata antar generasi, berurutan dari yang kecil ke besar G-0 (38,7 ± 10,72 butir/g bobot ikan), G-1 (45,3 ± 5,20 butir/g bobot ikan), dan G-2 (55,7 ± 7,75 butir/g bobot ikan). Program domestikasi ikan tambakan tidak mempengaruhi karakter reproduksi ikan antar generasi. Keragaman karakter reproduksi antar generasi masih tinggi. Pembentukan generasi selanjutnya perlu dipertahankan, sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai ikan budidaya baru.Kissing gourami is an Indonesian local fish species that has the potential to be developed as a farmed fish. However, the current domestication stage of the fish still requires further information regarding its bio reproduction. The research on determining the bioreproductive characteristics of three generations of kissing gourami has been carried out at the Research Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture and Fisheries Extensions, Bogor. This research aimed to determine the gonad position, gonad maturity index, and fecundity between the kissing gourami generations. The results showed that the gonads were positioned vertically towards the backbone, curved ends towards the front and located behind the urogenital. The fecundity of produced eggs/gram body weight of fish did not differ between generations and ranged between 76 ± 13–83 ± 14 eggs. The percentages of fertilized eggs and hatched eggs between generations did not differ and ranged between 70.6 ± 16.05–92.9 ± 10.88% and 51.3 ± 16.64–74.3 ± 10.32%, respectively. The number of produced larvae was also not significantly different between generations where G-0 has the lowest number (38.7 ± 10.72 eggs/g fish weight), followed by G-1 (45.3 ± 5.20 eggs/g fish weight) and G-2 has the highest number of produced larvae (55.7 ± 7.75 eggs/g fish weight). The aquaculture domestication program does not affect the reproductive character of fish between generations. The diversity of reproductive characters between generations is still high. The formation of the next generation needs to be maintained, so that it can be used as a new cultured fish.

Abstract

Komoditas ikan sidat memiliki keunggulan kompetitif yang berpeluang besar dalam berkompetisi di pasar internasional. Namun permasalahan yang krusial mendominasi upaya pengembangan teknologi budidaya sidat. Keterbatasan data dan informasi terkait dengan ketersediaan glass eel di alam, teknologi pendederan I untuk menghasilkan elver merupakan masalah krusial yang belum dapat diatasi. Selain hal itu kualitas ikan sidat hasil budidaya sebagian besar belum memenuhi standar kualitas yang dikehendaki konsumen. Perdagangan glass eel ikan sidat secara ilegal untuk di ekspor juga mempercepat tekurasnya sumberdayanya dialam. Regulasi tingkat internasional, nasional dan kabupaten sehubungan dengan pengelolaan dan pemanfaatan sidat telah di formalkan secara jelas. Namun implementasi regulasi dari Pemerintah Pusat maupun Daerah masih belum optimal. Hasil analisis SWOT menunjukkan beberapa strategi yang dapat di kombinasikan dalam pengelolaan budidaya ikan sidat. Opsi rekomendasi kebijakan jangka pendek yang dikemukakan dari hasil kajian yaitu: 1). Peningkatan efisiensi teknologi budidaya ikan sidat perlu di optimalkan melalui riset terintegrasi; 2). Urgensi inovasi teknologi reproduksi ikan sidat mendesak untuk segera dimulai oleh Lembaga Riset Nasional; 3). Pola kemitraan inti-plasma antara perusahaan swasta dan pembudidaya skala kecil perlu di fasilitasi; 4). Keunggulan kompetitif ikan sidat dalam bentuk beku yang dapat di tingkatkan sebagai komoditas ekspor andalan. The eel commodities have a competitive advantage that is a great opportunity to compete internationally. However, the crucial problems dominate the development efforts of eel culture technology. Limitation data and information related to the availability of glass eel in nature, the technology of the first nursery to produce elver is a crucial problem that can not be overcome. Besides, the quality of the eel cultivation result does not meet with standard consumers. Trading glass eel illegally for export also accelerate the drain of natural resources. International, national, and county-level regulation in connection with the management and utilization of the eel has been formalized. But the regulatory implementation of both central and regional government is still not optimal. The SWOT analysis result showed some strategies that can be combined to manage eel culture. The short-term policy recommendation option suggested from the study this result is : 1). The improvement of efficiency of eel culture technologies needs to be optimized through integrated research; 2). The urgency of innovation of eel reproductive technology is important to start immediately by the National Research Institute; 3). The pattern of a core partnership between private companies and small-scale cultivator needs to be facilitated; 4). The competitive advantage of eel in frozen form can be improved as a mainstay export commodity.
