Abstract

Teenagers are known to be the most gadget users today. Most of them have the intensity of using gadgets for approximately 5 hours and would be increasing. Excessive use of gadgets can lead to Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) such as fatigue and eye disorders. This study aims to determine the relationship between intensity of gadget’s use with CVS complaints on students of Junior High School 4th Denpasar. The method in this study is cross-sectional by using questionnaires as data instrument. This study used simple random sampling as sampling technique and determined 179 students as the sample. The results showed that almost half of the respondents had the intensity of using gadgets in the low category (43%) and the most respondents had CVS complaints in the medium category (39%). There is a relationship between the intensity of gadget usage with CVS complaints (p value = 0.05; a = 0.05; r = 0.086). The relationship is weakly positive which indicates that the higher intensity of use of gadgets would lead the higher CVS complaints felt by students.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder that occurs due to the pancreas not being able to produce sufficient insulin effectively. The increasing number of DMT2 patients can be caused by several factors, namely genetic factors, obesity, aging, smoking, and stress. Stress can be influenced by several factors, namely material, physical, psychological, social, and spiritual (such as spiritual intelligence). Spiritual intelligence is a dimension of a person to gain strength when facing physical illness and psychological problems. This study aimed to identify the relationship between spiritual intelligence with the stress of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 patients in the working area of Public Health Center (Puskesmas) II West Denpasar. This study used a descriptive correlative design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 44 respondents were involved and selected by consecutive sampling techniques in this study. The instruments used were the Spiritual Intelligence Self-Report Inventory (SISRI) and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS) questionnaires. The Spearman Rank test results obtained p=0,484 (p>0,05) value, which means there was no significant relationship between spiritual intelligence with the stress of DMT2 patients in the working area of Public Health Center (Puskesmas) II West Denpasar. This study is expected to use a larger number of samples, thus the data obtained will be more accurate and the spiritual intelligence of Diabetes Mellitus patients need to be more considered by a nurse when providing nursing care to Diabetes Mellitus patients. Therefore, it can support other aspects that contribute to the patient's self-care abilities. Keywords: Spiritual Intelligence, DMT2 Patient, Stress

Abstract

Chemotherapy is one of the most effective therapies for patients with cancer. In addition to its therapeutic effects, chemotherapy can also have side effects on children with cancer. Chemotherapy and its side effects can have an impact on children with cancer, particularly those requiring repeated hospitalizations, who are left with bad experiences from the therapies. In light of this fact, the treatment certainly can have an impact on the children’s quality of life. One of the outstanding factors influencing the quality of life of children with cancer is family support. In this regard, the aim of the present study was to determine the description of family support and quality of life for children with cancer who receive chemotherapy. This study was a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. The sample of the present study consisted of 30 children. The results showed that most of the respondents' parents were able to provide optimal family support (13.40), and most children with cancer who received chemotherapy had a good quality of life (74.63). This suggests that nursing services need to make efforts to maintain effective family support in order to improve the quality of life for children with cancer who receive chemotherapy.
