Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the performances of rabbit using several levels of Kebar grass in concentrate, i.e. 0, 5, 10 and 15%, according to protein requirement 19%. Research designed by using Randomized Design Group and each treatment was replicated two times. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance and Continued with LSD test. The addition of kebar grass concentrates had no effect in ration and feed efficiency, but significantly affect body weight gain in treatment of 10% and 15% compared to without addition (0%) of kebar grass and 5%. The addition of kebar grass did not affect palatability.Key words : kebar grass, rabbit, concentrate, formulations

Abstract

Decreasing population of Gosong Kelam birds (Megapodius freycinet) can be limited by using captivity. Characteristic of haematology were indicator to know about health and physiology satus of animals in a captivity. The aim of the research was to know haematology information of Gosong Kelam birds (Megapodius freycinet) in Mansinam island. The results show that average haematologies value of Gosong Kelam birds were not different to other research results. The number of erythrocyte 2.6x103/mm3, hemoglobin 15.8 gr%, leukocyte 15.9x103/mm3. More over types of leukocyte which are consist of basophils with 3.25% without eosinophils, heterophils 23.5%, lymphocytes 61.75% and monocytes 13%.

Abstract

Hijauan adalah pakan ternak ruminansia hewan, di mana ketersediaan yang memadai dan berkelanjutan serta kualitas yang baik harus menjadi prioritas. Tempat untuk pertumbuhan atau lokasi, juga menentukan keberadaan dan produksi hijauan termasuk spesies rumput dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar produksi rumput gajah, panicum dan cetaria pada perbedaan salinitas. Penelitian dilakukan selama 4 bulan, di Kompleks Perumahan dosen UNIPA Amban di Manokwari Papua Barat. Penelitian ini dirancang dengan desain petak split in to Completely Randomize design (CRD) 4x3 dengan 4 ulangan. Karena plot utama adalah spesies rumput dan subplot adalah salinitas berdasarkan media tanam. Faktor I adalah jenis rumput (Sp) yang terdiri dari: Pennisetum purpureum (Sp1), Panicum maksimum (Sp2) dan Setaria spacelata (Sp3) dan kemudian Faktor II adalah media tanam (M) yang terdiri dari: tanah 100% (M0), tanah 70 % + 30% pasir (M1), tanah 50% + 50% pasir (M2) dan tanah 30% + 70% pasir (M3). Analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh salinitas signifikan (P <0,05) pada variabel pertumbuhan tanaman, yaitu produksi bahan segar, produksi bahan kering dan rasio daun batang. Media tanam M1 (tanah 70% + pasir 30%) memberikan hasil terbaik, dan spesies yang responsif terhadap salinitas adalah Panicum maksimum (Sp2).

Abstract

ABSTRACT Wau-Weyaf Beach is the nesting ground of six species of turtles, including the world's largest turtle, the leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea). The University of Papua (UNIPA) Manokwari, since 2009 has been directly involved in the turtle nesting area protection program by involving the students of UNIPA through the Community Service Program (KKN). In 2016, students carried out the KKN Program starting from June 30th to August 16th in Kampung Wau-Weyaf, one of the leatherback turtles’ egg-laying locations in Abun. This paper is a part of the Community Service Program which is carried out in the said village. The activities conducted during the KKN include both formal and non-formal education, religious education, and environmental education. Education-based KKN directly helps to improve public awareness which, in turn, supports the efforts to protect and save the leatherback turtles (Dermochelys coriacea) on the coast of Abun, Tambrau. The same approach is also able to improve the calistung (the capability to read, write, and count) ability of school children along with their awareness to maintain the cleanliness of their homes, school, and village environment. Keywords: Education; Conservation; Turtle; Wau-Weyaf ABSTRAK Pantai Wau-Weyaf merupakan tempat bertelur bagi 6 jenis penyu, termasuk penyu terbesar di dunia, Penyu Belimbing (Dermochelys coriacea). Universitas Papua (UNIPA) Manokwari, sejak tahun 2009 telah terlibat secara langsung dalam program perlindungan kawasan peneluran penyu ini melalui pelibatan mahasiswa melalui program Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN). Pada tahun 2016, mahasiswa Universitas Papua (UNIPA) melaksanakan program KKN yang dilaksanakan antara tanggal 30 Juni sampai dengan 16 Agustus 2016 di Kampung Wau-Weyaf. Tulisan ini merupakan bagian dari pelaksanaan kegiatan KKN yang dilaksanakan di kampung Wau-Weyaf sebagai salah satu lokasi peneluran telur penyu belimbing di Abun. Kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi pendidikan formal dan non-formal, pendidikan agama, dan pendidikan lingkungan. KKN berbasis pendidikan yang dilakukan secara langsung membantu meningkatkan penyadar tahuan masyarakat yang menunjang usaha perlindungan dan penyelamatan penyu belimbing (Dermochelys coriacea) di pesisir Abun, Tambrau. Pendekatan yang sama juga mampu meningkatkan kemampuan calistung anak-anak sekolah dan kesadaran menjaga kebersihan lingkungan rumah, sekolah dan kampung.
