Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this research is to describe the influence of learning using Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education and conventional learning to athematical communication ability of students, and to know the difference between students who have high abilityand low ability to the mathematical communication abilities. Before determining the sample of population will be tested for normality and homogeneity. After the test have done, we get VII-H class and VII-I class as a control class and experiment class. Data collection was obtained by giving the test in experiment class and control class in the form of pre test and post test which have passed validity test. The results of data analysis is using independent sample t test, it show that tcount> ttable (1,995 > 1,933) and p-value (0,047 < 0,05) then H0 is refused. So there is an influence of learning using Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education and conventional learning to mathematical communication ability of students. To knowing whether there is an increase of mathematical communication ability on experiment class used paired sample test and be obtained significant value of 0,000. Because the significant value is 0,000 < 0,05 then there is increase mathematical communication ability of students. Number influence of variable is obtained value 21,809 with positive sign, it means that if there is no Indonesian realistic mathematics education approach then the value of mathematical communication ability is 21,809.Number of correlation coefficient (r) is 2,255, it means that the correlation between Indonesian realistic mathematics education variable and mathematics communication ability of students is positive. The results data analysis of the second hypothesis is using independent sample t test, it show that > (2,399 > 1,933) andp-value (0,022 < 0,05) then H0 is refused. It indicates that group of students who have high ability have significant difference of the result mathematical communication ability of students. Keywords: mathematical communication, Indonesian realistic mathematics education approach.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to describe the level of students' creative thinking in solving problem of pattern numbers and it's generalization trough learning based on guided discovery learning. The type of this research is descriptive research with qualitative approach. The data collection method used was test method, observation method, and interview method. The level of students' creative thinking was grouped into five, namely TBK 4 (very creative), TBK 3 (creative), TBK 2 (quaite creative), TBK 1 (less creative) and TBK 0 (not creative). The subjects of the study were the students in class IX C SMP Nuris Jember which amounted to 38 students. The results showed that seventeen students with creative thinking level 4 qualified all creative thinking components that is fluency, flexibility, and novelty. Five students with a level of creative thinking 3 qualified two creative thinking components that is fluency and flexibility. One student with creative thinking level 2 only qualified one creative thinking components that is flexibility. Nine students with creative thinking level 1 only qualified one creative thinking components that is fluency. Six students with creative thinking level 0 did not qualify any components of creative thinking. Keywords: Level of Creative Thinking, Problem Solving , Guided Discovery Learning

Abstract

Abstract. The research proposed to describe about student creative thinking skill in resolving about the flat sides shape surface area in class VIII D SMPN 2 Jember about 31 students. An instruments used is creative thinking skills package test, interview guidelines, and tests validation sheets and interview guidelines validation sheets. This research used the creative thinking to identify the capacity to think creative experienced students. This research used three aspects creative thinking that includes fluency, flexibility and organility. In this research known the percentage the aspects creative thinking students namely 40,59 % on the aspect of fluency, 33,33 % on the aspect of flexibility and 26,07 % on the aspect of originality. According to the research, average of class VIII D SMPN 2 Jember most students are on TBK 1 ( less creative ) with percentage 29,03 %, then category students have creative with the percentage 25,81 %, creative 25,81 % and the lowest is the number of students categories creative enough with the percentage 19,35 % Keywords: Originallity, Fluently, Fleksibility, Creative Thinking Level

Abstract

Abstract. High order thinking skill becomes a goal in the learning activities in Curriculum 2013. High order thinking skill is closely related to how students solve problems in mathematics. To measure students' level of problem solving skills requires an unusual test, which not only contains routine questions and low level questions. One of the mathematics lessons that can familiarize students to use their problem-solving power to measure students' high order thinking in the part of mathematics is the use of open-ended questions. A learning strategy that supports the use of open-ended questions is a collaborative learning strategy. The process of developing open-questions of high-level thinking through 4 stages, namely: (a) preliminary stage (preliminary); (B) the stage of self evaluation (analysis and design); (C) prototyping stage (validation, evaluation and revision); And (d) field test stage. The results of this study indicate that the developed instrument is worthy to be used to measure students' high-order thinking skill. It is based on the validity test with the value of Va generally reach 4.27 with valid interpretation. Reliability test obtained reliability tested in class VIII C and VIII D are 0.7999 and 0.8166 respectively with high interpretation. Based on the difficulty level test obtained the level of difficulty of open questions meet the criteria of a good degree of difficulty. Based on the result of the experiment, it is also known that overall students who have high order thinking skill with good category are 22 students (61,11%) from 36 students in class VIII C and 18 students (51,43%) from 35 students in class VIII D. Key Words: Open Ended Problem, Measuring High Order Thinking Skills, Collaborative Learning

Abstract

Abstract. Ethnomathematic is a study done for examines how a group of people in particular culture comprehending, expressing and applying the mathematic concept and use on culture which described mathematically by the researcher. The aim of this research for describing kind of ethnomathematic activity of Javanese in Setail Village. This research is a qualitative ethnographic approach. How to capture the subject of research by the snowball technique, that is by looking one by one the subject prior to the data obtained experiencing saturation point and limited to 7 farmers. The result of this research shown there are mathematic applied on farming done by farmer of Setail Village. They are enumerating, counting, measuring, and designing. Rice farmers of Javanese in Setail Village always use the standard size of land area “seprapat bau” to count and measure in a variety of activities such as determining the amount of fertilizer, medicine, seed number, and number of workers. Counting activities shown when the farmer chopping the frequency of fertilization and seed treatment and plant rice. Designing activities shown when farmers designing farming tool called kerek. Keywords: Ethnomathematics, counting, designing, enumerating, Javanese rice farmers, measuring.

Abstract

Abstract. This research describe the profile of critical thinking based on gender in solving sytems of linear equation with three variables problems at X-IPA 3 MAN 2 Jember. Critical thinking standards which are used in this research are: focus, reason, inference, situation, clarity, and overview. Instruments that are used are contextual mathematics problems and interview guidlines. Subject of this research are all of the students in X-IPA 3 MAN 2 Jember, six students that are interviewed consists of 3 male students and 3 female students. Male students fulfilled tend 5 standards of critical thinking which are focus, reason, inference, situation, and clarity. They tend not writing which method that is used by them when working on the problems, however when interviewed they can explain method which is used to solve the problem, can make a conclusion for every problems well and could use every information to solve the problems. Female students fulfilled 5 stadards of critical thinking which are focus, reason, inference, situation, and clarity. They can understand the problem well, can write down what are given in the problems, things asked, and method which is used to solve the problem, could make a conclusion for every problems given, and could use every information to solve the problems. Keywords : Critical Thinking, Gender, and Linear Equation System Of Three Variables
