Abstract

Slum especially in big cities such as Semarang City occurred not only in the inner city but also spread tothe suburbs of Semarang City, one of them in Banyumanik District. Based on the Decree of Mayor of Semarang no.050/801/2014 about Determination of Slum Location at Semarang City, there are 6 (six) urban villages inBanyumanik District which have slum areas. Determination of the slum area is based on the Semarang City SlumInventory Study from 2010 to 2014. As a consequence, it is known that the main problem causing the development of slum settlement is related to the availability of environmental infrastructures : road network, sanitation, clean water, and drainage. This research was conducted to determine the slum level in the slum areas located inBanyumanik district based on the availability of environmental infrastructure. The analysis included descriptive analysis to explain the characteristics of slum settlements and the availability of existing environmental infrastructure, and scoring analysis to determine the impact of the availability of this infrastructure on the slum level.Based on the results of the analysis, shows that the slum settlements in RT 01 / RW IV of Jabungan have the highestslum level in Banyumanik district.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology, especially the Internet is pointed out to be factor driving the student to practice plagiarism. Prevention efforts continue to be made both from government policies and stakeholder by creating software anti-plagiarism. However, in the reality the practice of plagiarism re-mains common and relatively more widespread. This practice continues to be varied, so that we need to up-date the information and findings through investigations plagiarism practices in student assign-ments. The method used was a mixed-method approach or mix of quantitative and quali-tative approaches. A quantitative approach was done by using software turnitin.com to scan for plagiarism indication of the level of student assignment in common. To study the behavior of plagiarism, the interview process was also done informally to students who commit high plagiarism. The results showed that the pattern of students’ plagiarism consists of five forms: sham paraphrasing, illicit paraphrasing, other plagiarism, copying verbatim and purloining. Illicit paraphrasing practices are a form of copy-paste literature review and did not pay attention to the bibliography. Besides, the practice of plagiarism is closely associated with low academic writing knowledge. Therefore, the practice of plagiarism should not only be viewed from the perspective of the academic violations, but also from the other perspectives.

Abstract

Slum settlement is one of the significant global problems which requires special concern in the discussion agenda of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of 2016-2030. The Sustainable Development Summit held in New York in September 2015 formulated that one of SDGs goals is to build inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and settlements. In Indonesia, the achievement of this goal is stated in National Medium-Term Development Plan 2015-2019, i.e. creating 0% urban slum settlement which is supported by policies expected to accommodate the achievement of national development targets. Semarang Mayor Decree No. 050/801/2014 concerning the Determination of the Location of Housing Environment and Slum Settlements in Semarang City has been issued as the basis to identify slum settlements scattered throughout Semarang city, in terms of location, physical condition, and social conditions. This study was conducted by case studies on slum settlements in Trimulyo Village and Mangkang Wetan Village, Semarang city, Central Java Province, Indonesia, to formulate a slum upgrading model based on the resilience level of coastal communities towards climate change. The analysis included identifying the characteristics of slum settlements, scoring analysis to determine the resilience level possessed by coastal communities, and analysis of pentagon assets used to formulate slum upgrading models. The results of the study showed that these two research areas had a moderate level of vulnerability, with several different characteristics of asset ownership, particularly those related to human and social assets. Increasing the quality of human resources and social relations in the community was more intensified in the environment and community in Trimulyo, while improving the physical quality of the environment through housing improvements was carried out in Mangkang Wetan.

Abstract

Spatial planning as a guidance in spatial use, arrange various permitted activities in a space by considering various implications including natural disasters which may not be predictable. Semarang City with diverse topographic conditions has the potential for natural disasters, including flood. One of the flood disaster mitigation efforts is based on the existence of green space and blue-space as water catchment areas. But in fact, the substance of spatial planning has not clearly regulated the urban blue space. This study aims to integrate the blue space in the substance of regional spatial planning as a disaster mitigation instrument in the Semarang City. The research was conducted through a review of the substance of the spatial planning and flood disaster mitigation efforts that have been carried out in Semarang City. Based on the results of the studies that have been conducted, the integration of the blue space plan can be integrated in several contents of the regional spatial plan, starting from the formulation of objectives, policies, and spatial planning strategies to the direction of controlling spatial use.

In the case of Semarang Regency, this development is included in the category fairly fast, particularly after the opening of toll road Semarang-Bawen. By utilizing remote sensing technology and satellite imagery, the pattern of these developments can be mapped and analyzed. The purpose of this study was to identify the pattern of development of space in Semarang Regency by using multitemporal Landsat images. The application of these images can be a mean of monitoring and controlling mechanism of the urban growth in the fast growing city in Central Java, such as in Semarang Regency. Hence, the focus of this analysis is on data of built up area. During the period of 43 years (1972 - 2015) land use change that occurred in the district of Semarang had increased for about 13,000 Ha or an average of 300 ha/year. The biggest changes are located in the Tengaran, Susukan and Bergas sub district that grow more than 20 ha / year.
