Abstract

This research aims to know knowledge and attitudes toward general biology of FacultyMathematic and Natural Sciences’ Students State University of Medan (FMIPA) included mathematic,physic, chemistry, and biology department. The research was conducted in FMIPA State University ofMedan with population were all of students in education class FMIPA of 4th semester and the samplewas taken by cluster random sampling, by takes one education class in each department. The kind ofthis research is descriptive quantitative. The total of knowledge test is 30 items number was validatedbefore used to students is by expert validator in general biology 2 also test instrument by usingvalidity test, reliability test, and difficulty level test, then there are 15 items number of questionnaire.The result of research are Biology department got better knowledge toward general biology 2 withcategorized less (56.6%), good (26.7%), and very good (16.7%), then continue for chemistrydepartment with categorized less (76.7%), good (20%), and very good (3.3%), mathematicdepartment with categorized less (86.7%) and good (13.3%), and last physic’ department withcategorized less (96.7%) and good (3.3%). Mathematic, physic, chemistry, and biology of studentsdepartment has most neutral for dimension attitudes and less awareness to love environmental.Students’ most favorable attitudes were found toward participating in environmental activities by aninstitution or community is a good thing is very interesting because most of biology’ students agree,then average neural answer for other students.Keyword: Students’ Knowledge, Student’s Attitudes, General Biology 2

Abstract

Ketersediaan buku ajar yang mengacu pada Permenristekdikti No. 44 Tahun 2015 bahwa wajib ditambah bentuk pembelajaran berupa penelitian, perancangan, atau pengembangan yaitu mengintegrasikan hasil penelitian dalam pembelajaran, serta didukung dengan Kurikulum Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia (KKNI) yaitu kegiatan mini riset adalah terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan pengembangan buku ajar pada topik Mendel matakuliah Genetika di Universitas Negeri Medan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif eksploratif. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa pendidikan biologi dan non kependidikan biologi yang telah atau sedang mengambil matakuliah Genetika. Sampel dipilih secara acak sebanyak 47 mahasiswa. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan kuesioner dan angket mahasiswa. Teknik analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 59% referensi yang digunakan mahasiswa dalam perkuliahan Genetika selama ini hanya berupa satu buku pegangan sendiri dan peminjaman buku di perpustakaan memiliki stok terbatas. Hasil angket analisis kebutuhan pengembangan buku ajar menunjukkan bahwa 78% kebutuhan pengembangan buku ajar Genetika berbasis riset perlu dilakukan. Berdasarkan data hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa perlu dikembangkan buku ajar Genetika Mendel berbasis riset yang dapat memfasilitasi mahasiswa untuk belajar, baik dengan  pendidik maupun secara mandiri melalui Kurikulum Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia (KKNI) yang berlaku yaitu mini riset.
