Abstract

This study is a literature study that requires data, documents, and archives belonging to the government of Binjai. In addition, as a comparison, the researchers also used some of the literature related to the development of the city and also compares the birth city of Binjai with the birth of several other cities in Indonesia. Anniversary of the city of Binjai which has been celebrated annually on each May 17, is a form of worship to a symbol or emblem of history. The historical meaning taken from the heroic events Langkat Weigh War that occurred on May 17, 1872 Regional Binjai region that now. The basis for determining the anniversary of the city based on historical symbols is indeed feasible to use when we view it in terms of such viewpoints. But from the standpoint of the definition of the city, on the anniversary of Binjai that have been used have not been able to meet the eligibility criteria anniversary of the city. The value of heroism that are expected to stimulate a sense of nationalism unwitting townspeople have obscured the true facts, which is about how long Binjai actually reveal characteristic as a city. In this study, researchers reviewed the problem of determining the day Binjai. Binjai has now evolved into a city of services and industry need to re-pay attention the historiografi. Today Binjai not only should be commemorated and remembered every year, but it also must be determined in accordance with the facts and the actual data.

Abstract

Medan mendapat predikat Kota Metropolitan terkotor se-Indonesia dari Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan dalam penilaian Adipura Tahun 2018. Sampah menjadi polemik yang tidak kunjung usai di Medan. Sampah menumpuk di sepanjang bibir sungai Deli, di lahan kosong, drinase, parit, dan Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA). Pengelolaan TPA di Kelurahan Terjun Kecamatan Medan Marelan masih menggunakan sistem open dumping yaitu sampah dibuang di TPA tanpa dilakukan pengelolaan lebih lanjut, sehingga tumpukan sampah menggunung. Apabila hujan, sampah di TPA tersebut akan hanyut ke Danau Siombak yang berada didekatnya. Sampah tersebut bersumber dari rumah tangga, mall, rumah sakit, dan pasar yang salah satu jenisnya berupa sampah plastik yang sangat sulit terurai. Ecobrick dapat menjadi solusi atas pengolahan sampah plastik. Edukasi ecobricks memberdayakan setiap pelaku pengguna plastik untuk bertanggung jawab atas sampah mereka. Edukasi Ecobricks berbasis cinta lingkungan berupa memberikan pengetahuan tentang jenis sampah dan bahaya sampah plastik, melatih anak-anak untuk memilah sampah, mengurangi penggunaan benda berbahan plastik, dan melatih pembuatan ecobricks. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini, anak-anak memiliki karakter cinta lingkungan dan mengumpulkan sampah plastik menjadi ecobricks yang disusun menjadi bangku.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance first-grade students' oral reading skills through illustrated story media. Action Research (AR) was conducted at SD Negeri 104245 Tumpatan from August to October 2019, involving 30 students as participants. It consisted of two cycles with four stages each: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Initial observations revealed that students faced difficulties in reading fluently and lacked proficiency in oral reading techniques such as pronunciation, intonation, punctuation, and pauses. Illustrated story media was employed to address these issues, proving effective in improving student motivation and reading skills. The average student scores increased from 66.3 with a Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) achievement of 47% in the pre-action phase to 70.5 with a 70% KKM achievement after Cycle I, and 73 with a 96% KKM achievement after Cycle II. These improvements demonstrate the effectiveness of illustrated story media in education. Teachers are encouraged to integrate this method according to their teaching materials.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of the Group Investigation learning model to enhance students' learning activities in Social Studies for fourth-grade students at SDN 106184 Sekip in the academic year 2020/2021. The theoretical framework includes concepts of learning, learning activities, and the Group Investigation learning model. The research method employed is the Group Investigation cooperative learning model, emphasizing student participation in independently seeking and understanding lesson materials. The results and discussion indicate that the implementation of the Group Investigation learning model effectively enhances students' learning activities. Data from the pre-cycle questionnaire shows that only 21% of students were categorized as active, while 79% were categorized as inactive. In Cycle I, the number of active students increased to 44.12%, and in Cycle II, all students were actively involved with a percentage of 100%. The average percentage score of the learning activity questionnaire also increased from 62.97% in Cycle I to 87.23% in Cycle II. This study confirms that the Group Investigation learning model can be an effective strategy to encourage active student participation and improve learning effectiveness in classrooms, particularly in the context of Social Studies at the elementary school level.

Abstract

The problem studied in this study is the low creativity of students in social studies subject matter in class V SDN 10420 Sambirejo Timur. This study aims to determine whether using the Mind Word Square learning method can improve student learning creativity in social studies subjects, the material of the role of struggle figures. The subjects in this study were all fifth grade students of SDN 104204 Sambirejo Timur, totaling 37 students consisting of 21 male students and 16 female students.. The data collection tool used is to use an observation sheet to measure the level of creativity in student learning. From the results of observations in the initial conditions, it shows that students' learning creativity is very lacking with the percentage of classical completeness only 29.8%. Furthermore, the results of this study indicate that the observation of student learning creativity during the first cycle with the average value increased to 67.55%, then increased in the second cycle to 75.20%, and at the second meeting it increased to 78.3%. While the success rate of classical learning creativity in the first cycle of meeting 1 was 22.22%, and at the second meeting it increased to 61.11%, in the second cycle of meeting 1 it increased to 89.33%. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the Word Square method can increase student learning creativity on the subject matter of the role of the struggle shop in class V SDN 104204 Sambirejo Timur Academic Year 2020-2021. This means that the Word Square method can be used as an alternative in social studies learning.
