Abstract

The research of adsorption cadmium (II) metal ions in the solution by activated carbon from durian peel has been done. Adsorption process is done by using a variation of pH (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6), variation of contact time (15, 30, 45, 60, 75 dan 90 menit), variation of the concentration (20, 30, 40, 50 dan 60 mg/L). Analysis of metal ion concentration of cadmium (II) used by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results of this research shows that the optimum condition was achieved at the pH value of 4 and the contact time of 60 minutes. Metal ion adsorption of cadmium (II) by activated carbon from durian’s peel at pH value of 4 and the contact time of 60 minutes can achieve 64,540%. Metal ion adsorption capacity of cadmium (II) adsorbed by activated carbon from durian’s peel can achieve 0,4951 mg/g.Keywords : Adsorption, Activated Carbon, Durian Peel, Metal Ions Cadmium (II)

Abstract

The research has done of "The distribution of lead (Pb) on wedelia plants contaminated by vehicular emission on several main road in samarinda”. This study aimed to determine the metal concentrations of lead in roots, flowers and leaves of plants wedelia at several locations in the city of Samarinda on PM Noor Street, Wahid Hasyim Street, Pahlawan Street, AW Syahrani Street, and Belatuk Street (control location) were the different traffic density and the treatment of leaching on levels of lead found in wedelia plants. The concentrations of lead metal on wedelia plants were measured using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) at a wavelength of 283.3 nm. The results showed that The highest levels of Pb obtained on PM Noor and lowest on Belatuk, were the traffic density is high concentration of lead is absorbed more than low traffic density. And the treatment of non-leaching and leaching concentrations obtained difference was not significant, indicating leaching did not significantly affect the concentration of Pb on plants.

Abstract

Phytochemical tests, mortality of larvae shrimp (brine shrimp lethality test) and the antibacterial activity of theleaf merkubung (Macaranga gigantea Rchb.f. & Zoll.) With various factions has been conducted. Merkubung leafsamples were extracted with ethanol and concentrated by using rotary evaporator. The total extract was fractionatedwith n-hexane and ethyl acetate. The results of phytochemical compounds secondary metabolites merkubung leavesshowed that the total extract are contains alkaloids, phenolics and steroids. n-hexane fraction are containing alkaloids, flavonoids and steroids. Ethyl acetate faction are containing flavonoids and steroids. Ethanol-water faction is containingphenolic compounds. Shrimp larvae mortality trials showed mortality rates of larvae of Artemia salina (L) by usingSAS Probit analysis to determine the value of Lethal Concentration 50 % (LC50). The test shows that the most toxicfraction is the total extract with LC50 values of 459.8414 ppm. The test of antibacterial activity using paper disc methodand shows that the most active faction is the total extract with a MIC (Minimmum Inhibitor Concentration) of 1 % is6.5 mm diameter clear zone on Staphylococcus aureus (Gram positive) and 6.25 mm in the bacterium Escherichia coli(Gram negativ). Keywords : Macaranga gigantea Rchb.f. & Zoll., phytochemical test, Antibacteria activity test, LC50.

Abstract

Has been done a research concerning the use of Petunia Ungu (Ruellia simplex C.) plants as an absorbent lead metal (Pb) in the soil growing medium. The research almed to determine the levels of lead metal in petunia ungu plants and determine the effect of variations of concentrations also to determine the effect of absorption time in plants during planting petunia ungu 1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks then petunia ungu planted in the soil as the growing that was added a solutions of lead respectively 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 mg/L. A soil sample preparation was conducted by wet digestion method and petunia ungu plants by dry digestion method. Metal levels of lead in the soil samples and petunia ungu plants was measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometer at wavelengths of 283,3 nm. The result of research showed that petunia ungu plants can absorb lead metal, the average levels of lead metal in petunia ungu plants consist of 0 ppm 1, 2, 3 and weeks 1,2303; 1,3190; 1,5064 and 1,6915 mg/Kg. 25 ppm 2,1779; 3,0426; 3,4145 and 3,3643 mg/Kg. 50 ppm 3,1317; 3,4316; 3,8689 and 4,2841 mg/Kg. 75 ppm 3,1179; 4,6695; 6,5676 and 6,6828 mg/Kg. 100 ppm 2,5205; 3,6302; 5,4442 and 6,9167 mg/Kg. beside that a lead metal content in the soil as a growing medium decreased.

Abstract

The research of activated carbon utilization of dirty coal as an adsorbent ion cadmium (Cd) and plumbum (Pb) has been done. In this research, the variations of solutions pH value (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6), contact time (5, 10, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 minutes), and the variation of concentration (20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 mg/L) were applied. The determination of cadmium and plumbum ion concentraction used an Atomic Absorption Specthrometer (AAS). The optimum condition cadmium ion on pH 4, than in the plumbum on pH 5 with optimum time contact is 15 minutes and the maximum adsorptive capacity cadmium ion in value is 2,90 mg/g, than on plumbum ion is 3,08 mg/g.Keywords: Adsorption, Activated Carbon, Dirty Coal, Cadmium, Plumbum, Ion, Solution
