Abstract

This study aims at comparing the behavioral response of broiler chickens maintainedat different closed house length in the dry season. 600 broiler chickens with an average weightof 41.30 ± 2.68 g and two closed house units, each with a length of 60 m and 120 m having acapacity of 11,000 and 22,000 were used. Heat production is represented through eating,walking, and stretching behaviors. This research observed drinking and resting behaviors of thechickens. This is descriptive research conducted in the starter period (14 days old) of thechickens. The results show that the resting and stretching behaviors of chickens residing in the120 m closed house are higher than those in the 60 m closed house; no difference is observedin drinking behaviors. The average frequency and duration of walking and eating of chickensresiding in the 120 m closed house are lower than those in the 60 m closed house indicatingthat broilers reduce the frequency and duration of walking and eating. The findings show thatchickens raised in longer cages will show behavioral responses representing an increase of heatloss and a reduction of heat production.Keywords: broiler chicken behavior, heat loss, heat production, dry season, closed house.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penambahan kulit singkong yang dikombinasikan dengan bakteri asam laktat sebagai aditif pakan dalam bentuk larutan terhadap kualitas eksterior telur awal produksi. Materi yang digunakan adalah 240 ekor puyuh umur 3 minggu dipelihara selama 12 minggu tiap masing-masing petak kandang berisi 10 ekor puyuh. Parameter yang diamati adalah bobot telur, tebal cangkang, kadar kalsium telur dan kekuatan cangkang telur. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu T0 = ransum basal + tanpa aditif pakan T1 = ransum basal + 1,6 %/kg aditif pakan, T2 = ransum basal + 2,4 %/kg aditif pakan, T3 = ransum basal + 3,2 %/kg aditif pakan. Data yang diperoleh di analisis dengan menggunakan analisis ragam (ANOVA). Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 6 kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa  pemberian aditif pakan kulit singkong yang dikombinasikan dengan bakteri asam laktat  tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap bobot telur, kadar kalsium dsn kekuatan cangkang telur namun berpengaruh nyata menurunkan tebal cangkang telur (P<0,05). Kesimpulan  penelitian ini adalah perlakuan pemberian aditif berupa kombinasi kulit singkong dan bakteri asam laktat belum mampu memperbaiki kualitas eksterior telur terhadap bobot telur, tebal cangkang, kadar kalsium dan kekuatan cangkang telur. Kata kunci : aditif pakan, bakteri asam laktat, kulit singkong, kualitas eksterior telur puyuh, puyuh.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji zona penempatan berbeda dalam kandang closed house dan dampaknya terhadap microclimatic ammonia dan profil darah merah ayam broiler. Materi yang digunakan adalah ayam broiler sebanyak 360 ekor dengan bobot awal 44,8 ± 1,66 g dari kandang closed house berpopulasi 11.000 ekor. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 6 kelompok, setiap kelompok percobaan terdiri dari 15 ekor ayam. Perlakuannya adalah penempatan ayam pada posisi tertentu dari panjang kandang yang diukur dari inlet, yaitu: zona 1 = sejajar dengan inlet, zona 2 = 15 meter, zona 3 = 30 meter dan zona 4 = 45 meter. Parameter yang diukur yaitu total eritrosit, kadar hemoglobin, dan persentase hematokrit. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis ragam dan jika terdapat pengaruh nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji beda Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa zona yang semakin jauh dari inlet nyata (P<0,05) meningkatkan persentase hematokrit, namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap jumlah eritrosit dan kadar hemoglobin (p>0,05). Simpulan penelitian yaitu zona penempatan ayam pada posisi lebih jauh dari inlet menyebabkan peningkatan microclimatic ammonia sehingga berpengaruh terhadap penambahan persentase hematokrit ayam broiler.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different placement zones on closed houses on microclimatic ammonia, relative size of lymphoid organs, thyroid gland and small intestine of broiler chickens. The material used in the study was 360 broiler chickens taken from a population of 11000 with an initial body weight of 44.8 ± 1.66 grams. The design used was a randomized block design with 4 treatments and 6 groups so that there were 24 experimental units and 15 units each. The treatment given is T1 = 0 m from the inlet, T2 = 15 m from the inlet, T3 = 30 m inlet, T4 = 45 m from the inlet. The parameters observed were ammonia microclimatics in different zones, the weight of lymphoid organs, thyroid gland the length and weight of broiler small intestine. The results of the analysis of variance that has been done can be seen that changes in ammonia microclimatics in different placement zones had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on the relative size of broiler chicken lymphoid organs. The conclusion of this study is that the different placement zones in the closed house enclosure followed by ammonia microclimatic changes have not been able to influence the relative size of , the weight of lymphoid organs, thyroid gland the length and weight of broiler small intestine.
