Abstract

Goat and Chicken Fecal Fermentation with Lontar Sap as Chicken Feed. The effect of goat faces and chicken faces on the chemical characteristic and production performance of native chicken were investigated. The experiment was conducted in two parts. In the first parts, goat faces and chicken faces were fermented with different level of palm tree sap. In the second experiment, the feeding value of fermented goat faces and chicken faces was evaluated. Both experiments were conducted as a complete randomized design consisting of four treatments. The level of palm tree nira used in the first experiment was 0, 5, 10 and 15% respectively. The diets, in mash form, were fed ad libitum to four pens of ten mix native chicken each from week 12 to 16 post-hatch. ?????? The result showed that as the level of nira lontar increased, the chemical composition of fermented goat faces and chicken faces increased. Abstract

The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of  Probio FMplus on carcass component parts and abdominal fat of growing broilers.  A total of 150 day-old broiler chicks (unsexed, Cobbs strain) were used in the present study. The chicks were randomly distributed to 25 pens (6 birds/pen). The experiment was design by using a complete randomized design consisting of five treatments and five replications. The treatments were a control diet without the addition of probio FMplus in drinking water (R0), control diets added with 0.5% Probio FMplus (R1), control diets added with 1.0% Probio FMplus (R3), and control diets added with 2.0% Probio FMplus (R4). The variables measured were carcass component parts and abdominal fat percentage. The result showed that the treatments did not have any significant effects (P >0.5) on all parameters measured. However, numerically it seemed that the breast meat and thigh percentages of group of birds fed diets added with Probio FMplus were higher than those of control diets without Probio FMplus. In conclusion, the addition of Probio FMplus (0 to 2%) did not give any beneficial effects of carcass component parts and abdominal fat percentages. Abstract

Since the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Animal Husbandry-State Agricultural Polytechnic of Kupang (Politani Kupang) and the farmer’s group of Tuatuka village in East Kupang district of Kupang regency, the department have carried out various and gradual community service programs at the location. However, problems the farmers are still facing in breeding their pig livestock are: limited capital to increase business scale and availability of feed and the low quality of livestock breeds. As a continuation of the activities that have been initiated previously, the Animal Feed Technology (TPT) study program initiated to help partner farmers by building a system of partnership cooperation that can help overcome some of the problems faced, especially related to the availability of animal feed. Based on the situation analysis that has been carried out at the location, the study program has determined the topic of the community service which is: "Starter Feed Processing for Supporting Pig Fattening in Partership with ‘Sehati’Farmer’s group of Tuatuka Village". By doing so, it is expected to support the farmers in establishing a stronger foundation of pig breeding and fattening.

Abstract

Kelompok Tani Sehati merupakan kelompok tani yang telah bermitra dengan  Jurusan Peternakan Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Kupang dalam kegiatan penggemukkan ternak babi  sejak Tahun 2019. Kegiatan kemitraan ini telah memberikan manfaat dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan anggota kelompok tani tentang manajemen dan model kemitraan penggemukan ternak babi dalam kerangka peningkatan skala usaha dan pendapatan dari usaha penggemukan. Namun kegiatan ini telah terhenti  akibat mengalami kerugian yang disebabkan oleh wabah penyakit virus African Swine Fever (ASF). Kendala modal merupakan salah satu faktor penghambat dalam memulai lagi usaha penggemukkan babi selain faktor terbatasnya pengetahuan dalam pencegahan dan pengendalian penyakit khususnya penyakit seperti African Swine Fever (ASF) serta bagiamana memperkuat sistem kemitraan yang dibangun menuju kemandirian kelompok tani. Tujuan kegiatan adalah menerapkan program kemitraan melalui aktifitas penggemukan ternak babi di kelompok Sehati. Metode kegiatan meliputi: diskusi bersama pengurus  kelompok tani, pengadaan dan distribusi sarana produksi ternak, penyuluhan dan demplot serta monitoring dan evaluasi.. Hasil kegiatan adalah usaha ternak babi (penggemukkan) tetap dijalankan dengan penguatan sistim kemitraan yang telah dilaksanakan sebelum wabah penyakit  African Swine Fever (ASF), telah memenuhi harapan mitra dengan jumlah bibit yang digemukan sebanyak 8 ekor dan telah meningkatkan pengetahuan peternak tentang biosecurity dalam  pengendalaian wabah penyakit menular.

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of different basal diet and feed additive on the percentage of carcass and component parts of broilers. This research has been conducted for four months (June to September 2020) at State Polytechnic of Agriculture Kupang. A total of 264 one-day old chicks were distributed to 24 pens (11 birds/pen).The experiment was designed using a 2 x 4 factorial design with 8 tretment combinations and three replications for each treatment. The treatments were control (0% sago) (P0), control (0% sago) + avyzime 0,10 % and phyzyme 0,05% (P1), control (0% sago) + allzime 0,05% (P2), control (0% sago) + synbiotic probio FMplus 40 mL/L drinking water (P3), Diet containing 10% sago (P4), Diet containing 10% sago + allzyme 0,10 % and phyzyme 0,05% (P5), Diet containing 10% sago + allzyme 0,05% (P6) and Diet containing 10% sago + synbiotic probio FMplus 40 mL/L drinking water (P7). The result shows that type of basal diet (TBD) and feed additive (FA) affect (P < 0,05) the carcass weight but it did not afect (P>0,05) carcass percentage of broiler chickens. Except for thigh, TBD did not affect (P>0,05) on component parts of carcass. Feed additive had no effect (P>0,05) on carcass component, with the exception of thigh. Interaction between TBD x FA was significant (P<0,05) only for weight and percentage of carcass and back percentage of broilers. Broilers fed basal diet A plus Allzyme SSF-E had lower weight and percentage of carcass and also back percentage than other treatment diets. To sum up,, 1) basal diet B produced higher carcass weight than basal diet A; 2) supplementation of Allzyme SSF-E on basal diet A reduced the weight and percentage of broiler carcass.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kemampuan peternak dalam penggemukan ternak babi yang aman dan sehat untuk dikonsumsi. Tujuan jangka panjangnya adalah meningkatkan pendapatan peternak babi di desa Tuatuka, Kabupaten Kupang.  Kegiatan PKM ini telah dilaksanakan pada tahun  2022 di kelompok tani Sehati di kelurahan Tuatuka, Kabupaten Kupang.  Sebanyak 8 ekor ternak babi fase grower yang terdiri dari 5 ekor jantan dan 3 ekor betina digunakan dalam kegiatan PKM ini dan dipelihara selama 6 bulan. Pakan yang digunakan adalah pakan komplit ternak babi fase grower yang diproduksi di Pabrik Mini Pakan Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Kupang. Metode pelaksanaan PKM ini adalah demonstrasi plot, penyuluhan dan diskusi. Pakan yang diproduksi dan diserahkan kepada kelompok Tani Sehati merupakan pakan yang aman dan sehat. Persyaratan mutu pakan dan upaya pencegahan dan pengendalian dampak racun jamur merupakan materi penyuluan yang disampaikan kepada kelompok tani Sehati. Hasil PKM menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota kelompok tani Sehati tentang persyaratan mutu pakan, racun jamur dan bahayanya serta upaya kontrol kualitas pakan babi saat produksi dan selama penyimpanan meningkat. Simpulannya, kegiatan PKM meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kelompok tani Sehati untuk beternak babi yang aman dan sehat untuk dikonsumsi.Kata kunci : Aflatoksin, kontrol kualitas, kualitas pakan, okratoksin A, racun jamur

Abstract

Blood is one of the parameters of the animal health status because blood has a function related to the transportation component in the body as nutrients, oxygen, carbon dioxide, metabolites, hormones, heat, and immune. The additional functions of blood is associated with fluid balance and pH of the body. The aim of this study was to determine the hematologic status of broiler age of 6 weeks were given rations of commercial and PROBIO FMplus. Lactobacillus was given in drinking water to determine the hematologic status broiler among erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit and leukocytes. This study useds a completely randomized design (CRD). with treatments without the addition of PROBIO FMplus (R0), 5% PROBIO FMplus (R1), 10% PROBIO FMplus (R2), 15% PROBIO FMplus (R3) and 20% PROBIO FMplus (R4) which is repeated 5 times. The results showed that the treatment did not give a significant (P> 0.05) on levels of hemoglobin, hematocrit, erythrocytes and leukocytes. The conclusion is administration of PROBIO FMplus on broiler with different levels of administration that does not give effect to increasing level of hemoglobin, hematocrit, erythrocytes and leukocytes.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the proximate composition and nutrient digestibility of sago meal from different origin on growing broilers. The experimental design used was randomized complete design consisting of five treatments and four replications. A total of 100 growing broilers were randomly distributed to 20 cages (5 birds/cage). Corn-soybean basal diets were formulated and then the assay diets were developed by substituting sago meal 20% (w/w) of the basal diets. The results showed that location significantly affected (P < 0.05) the crude protein (CP) and crude fibre (CF) contents of sago, but it did not affect (P > 0.05) the ash and gross energy contents. The digestibility coefficient (DC) of crude lipid (CL), CF and energy of sago were significantly affected (P < 0.05) by location. There were no differences (P > 0.05) on DCCL of sago meal from Lili dan Naibonat and between Naibonat and Pariti. The DCCL of Bipolo sago meal was not different (P > 0.05) from DCCL of Lili sago meal, however, it was significantly different (P < 0.05) from the DCCL of sago from Naibonat and Pariti. The DCCF of Naibonat sago was significantly different (P < 0.05) from the DCCF of sago from Pariti, Bipolo and Lili. The DCE of Naibonat sago was significantly higher (P < 0.05) that that of Pariti and Bipolo sago. In conclusion, 1) the nutrient composition and digestibility of sago meal were affected by the different origin; 2) sago is potential to be used as energy source feed ingredient in poultry diet due to its high energy content.

Abstract

Banana peel is a potential alternative feed source, but its use is limited by its tannin content. Tannins bind proteins, and minerals and reduce protein digestibility. The experiment aimed to evaluate the effect of palmyra sugar liquid (PSL) on tannin, calcium, and phosphorus levels of banana peel silage. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were GA0: banana peel without PSL, GA2: banana peel + 2% PSL, GA4: banana peel + 4% PSL, and GA6: banana peel + 6% PSL. A mixture of banana peels and PSL was put into a plastic jar while compacted. Then tightly closed and fermented for 21 days. Variables observed were the tannin, calcium, and phosphorus content of banana peel silage. The results showed that the PSL level had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on the tannin, calcium, and phosphorus content of kepok banana peel silage. The use of 4% water sugar can reduce tannin levels and has the highest levels of calcium and phosphorus of kepok banana peel silage.Key Words:  Banana peel, Calcium, Fermentation, Phosphorus, Tannin

Abstract

Kelompok tani Sehati  merupakan mitra kegiatan pengabdian ini. Kegiatan pengabdian  dilakukan melalui beberapa tahap seperti persiapan, pelaksanaan dan pendampingan. Pada persiapan dilakukan pembuatan pakan ternak yang dilakukan di Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Kupang (PPNK) dengan bantuan para mahasiswa, selain itu disiapkan juga materi penyuluhan. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan penyuluhan baik oral maupun tertulis dalam bentuk leaflet. Pendampingan dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian dari jurusan peternakan PPNK. Hasil kegiatan ini anggota kelompok tani dibekali dengan pengetahuan tentang pakan ternak babi fase pertumbuhan, dilakukan penyerahan pakan dan  penanganan kastrasi ternak babi jantan. Pendampingan dilakukan tim pengabdian jurusan Peternakan PPNK  hingga ternak babi hasil penggemukan dipasarkan. Disimpulkan bahwa peternak mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan pakan yang disampaikan pada materi penyuluhan  maupun pada media tertulis. Kastrasi dilakukan dengan  baik dan pendampingan terus dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian jurusan Peternakan.
