Abstract

A mosque is one of the art products formed by the spiritual values of Islamic religion. At this time, mosques are not always related to religious activities. Therefore, Everyone can visit mosques. The mosque is used as a place of worship and social-cultural interaction. This study aims to reveal the relationship between the characteristics of the mosque, the activities, and the user's perception of spiritual values. In this study, respondent data was collected by distributing online questionnaires with the results of 198 respondents. The data is then analyzed by quantitative methods through factor analysis to determine latent variables. Furthermore, a multivariate correlation analysis between latent variables was conducted to find the relationship between variables. The findings revealed the highest and most significant correlation between the characteristics of the mosque and ritual worship activities on the perception of solemnity during worship. Meanwhile, the mosque features also highly correlate with recreational activities, giving rise to the perception of openness to the mosque building.

Abstract

AbstractThe millennial generation often can't afford housing prices in urban areas. On the other hand, several studies have stated that the millennial generation prefers landed housing, considered healthier and more flexible. This research is essential to examine the potential application of RISHA prefabricated technology as a method of an economist, fast, and guaranteed safety to provide affordable landed housing in Bandung City. This study aims to identify housing criteria based on millennials' housing preferences. This study uses a deductive approach based on millennials' opinions. Then it compares it with related literature studies to predict the potential housing design development using RISHA prefabricated components. The results show that the RISHA prefabricated modular component has the potential to be built in the urban area of Bandung because it is suitable for millennials' housing preferences, both in terms of building design and millennial socio-economic characteristics. RISHA's prefabricated modular house design can support healthy and flexible residential design because of the flexibility of facade designs and adaptive module sizes for possible interior transformations. In addition, RISHA's prefabricated components can also reduce building construction costs as an alternative to providing affordable housing. However, RISHA's prefabricated modular components have limited module sizes and structural durability, limited to 1-2-story buildings that unfulfilled the preference for multi-story housing.

Abstract

The new normal era has had an impact on the decline of the economy and tourism in the city of Bandung. This condition has an impact on the regional income of the City of Bandung due to restrictions on foreign and domestic tourists. The decline in hotel occupancy is due to the lack of tourist visits. Hoteliers experience difficulties in maintaining their business due to the lack of discussion on this matter. Therefore, the designer's perspective can be a reference for managers and decision-makers to develop the hotel business efficiently during a pandemic. This study uses a descriptive analysis method from Hotel Urban Merdeka as a case study, which was able to survive during a pandemic. This research shows that generic strategies in hotel design are very important to attract and retain customers in the new normal era. Therefore, it is important for hotel owners to consider generic strategies, such as low cost, differentiation, and focus on certain market segments. Hotels that are responsive to changing trends and consumer preferences will be more successful in the new normal era. Factors such as hygiene, health, and safety are factors that must be considered. Different design concepts, such as eco-friendly designs or designs with artistic and cultural concepts added value to hotels and attract consumers' attention. The implication of this research is that hotel owners must consider generic strategies in their hotel designs and always be responsive to changing trends and consumer preferences. In addition, different design concepts must also be considered to provide added value to hotels and attract consumers' attention. Keywords: Tourism, repositioning, construction scenario, low cost

Abstract

Sentra Tahu Cibuntu, a tofu supplier industry in Bandung Raya, is categorized as an informal settlement because it formed spontaneously due to national road infrastructure development in Bandung City. The designation of an ordinary settlement as a center positively impacts the city's economic growth. On the other hand, the high demand for housing for tofu makers became a new problem that resulted in an increasingly unplanned settlement growth pattern. Spatial patterns in informal settlements need to be identified as a benchmark for estimating the direction of settlement development in the future. Both designers and policymakers can determine the design strategy of the area to improve the quality of informal settlements. This research uses the space syntax approach to analyze integration on the Sentra Tahu Cibuntu axial map. Primary data was obtained through field observations combined with mapping from satellite imagery. The mapping data is processed using DepthMapX software to produce an axial map that shows the integration value, which describes the real setting. The results of the syntactic analysis are combined with the results of field observations to obtain an overview of building functions, activities, and environmental characteristics. The lower integration value is interpreted as low accessibility to residential areas, so residents have high vulnerability to security and safety, limited infrastructure, limited social activities, and low quality of occupant health. Designers can use the results of these findings as a consideration in designing inclusive and sustainable residential areas through innovative designs.
