Abstract

Background: Flat foot is a clinical orthopedic condition that occurs when the medial longitudinal arc does not appear from birth, this condition can cause complaints of fatigue and restrict walking activities. Handling of flat foot in the prosthetic orthotic field is by the use of medial arch support that can be made with various types of designs and materials. In terms of orthosis type material can be either rigid medial arch support and flexible medial arch support that can be used to correct flatfoot conditions. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there were differences in walking speed with the use of rigid medial arch support and flexible medial arch support in patients with flat foot. Methods: This type of research is Observational with Cross Sectional design. The samples used were children aged 8-12 years totaling 20 samples of boys and girls, grades 4 through 6 Elementary School, with body weights of 26-60 kg, and height of 124-150 cm. The results of calculating the average walking speed using rigid medial arch support is 0.69 m / s and the average result of walking speed calculation using flexible medial arch support is 0.78 m / s. Results: The results of Shapiro Wilk data normality (N = 20) show that the data is not normally distributed. So by using the non parametric test (Wilcoxon test) obtained P = 0,000 (P <0.05). Conslusion: ConFrom the test results it can be concluded that there are differences in the speed of walking using rigid medial arch support with flexible medial arch support in patients with flat foot. This is because the use of medial arch support with flexible material can be used to support the arch to stay awake. While the use of rigid medial arch support is stiffer and less able to adjust foot movements, especially when walking.

Abstract

Background: People with disabilities are those with physical or mental limitations in long term. People with disabilities have some rights they deserve such as rights to education, occupation, health, social welfare, and accessibility. Aims study is to describe Rights of Disabilities to Education, Occupation, Health, Social Welfare, and Accessibility. Methods: This research was conducted on December 2019, in Colomadu Sub District using questionnaire with cross-section design. The subject used consisted of 23 quadriplegic persons. Results: Out of 23 quadriplegic persons, the result of analysis showed significant score of 0.236 between people with disabilities and right to education, of 0.167 between people with disabilities and right to occupation, of 0.313 between people with disabilities and right to health, of 0.150 between people with disabilities and right to social welfare, and of 0.762 between people with disabilities and right to accessibility, with p > 0.05. Conclusion: The rights of people with disabilities (disability people) have not been fulfilled yet in Colomadu Sub District.

Abstract

Abstract

Flat foot is the longitudinal curvature of the medial foot. In prosthetic orthotics, flat foot is treatment using custom foot orthosis. Flat foot can be easily detected in children aged 8-12 years. From the results of early detection at SD Negeri 1 Gedongan, Colomadu, Karanganyar, 12 students had flat foot. So it is necessary to have education for the teachers and students to increase understanding of the use of custom foot orthosis in reducing the degree of flat foot in students. This activity was at SD Negeri 1 Gedongan, Colomadu, Karanganyar there are early detection of flat foot, educations, and intervention in the provision of custom foot orthosis for students who had flat foot from June to August 2022. Results: There was an increase in understanding of the use foot orthoses to reduce flat foot as evidenced by interactive discussions and evaluations with questions and answers to participants and an increased grade of flat foot students after 1 month of being given foot orthoses. Custom foot orthosis is given to students who detect flat foot to be used every day so that it provides benefits in reducing the degree of flat foot. It can help students be more comfortable in carrying out their daily activities because the curved arch can correct the condition of the arch. Implementation of the use of custom foot orthosis in reducing the degree of flat foot can help the community in dealing with flat foot in children.
