Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia is the common type of anemia which is about 75% of all types of anemia and it is known as the death cause of maternal including postpartum hemorrhage, eclampsia, infectious diseases, and placenta previa. Attitude and motivation of the mother are needed to prevent iron deficiency anemia from causing this condition. One of the efforts that could be done is through health counseling. This research aimed to understand the effectiveness of health counseling toward attitude and motivation in preventing iron deficiency anemia among pregnant women. The research was an experimental study with one group pre-test post-test design. Sample collection technique implemented was quota sampling with 50 respondents. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires attitude and motivation that had been analyzed by using Wilcoxon sign test. The result showed that health counseling was effective in increasing respondent's attitude (p-value was 0.000) and motivation (p-value was 0,000), with the difference in the mean value of pre-test and post-test were 4.46 and 1.86 respectively. It is expected for health workers to improve counseling programs about iron deficiency anemia, so that pregnant women have a positive attitude and high motivation to prevent iron deficiency anemia.

Abstract

Daun sirih merupakan tanaman obat tradisional yang erat kaitannya dengan kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Daun sirih diketahui sebagai salah satu Bahan alami yang memiliki kemampuan sebagai obat kumur karena aktivitasnya sebagai antibakteri penyebab plak gigi. Meskipun telah banyak diketahui khasiatnya, pemanfaatan dan pembuatan daun sirih sebagai obat kumur bagi masyarakat perlu disosialisasikan untuk menjaga kesehatan mulut. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan mengenai pencegahan bau mulut dengan obat kumur alami dan cara pembuatannya dengan sederhana kepada masyarakat sehingga dapat meningkatkan derajat kesehatannya secara mandiri serta meningkatkan pendapatan ekonomi. Mitra yang dipilih menjadi lokasi pengabdian masyarakat didasarkan pada pertimbangan berdasarkan kepatutan sumber data dan informasi yang dikumpulkan melalui kunjungan serta diskusi. Target yang dicapai adalah ibu-ibu rumah tangga yang tergolong masyarakat ekonomi menengah ke bawah. Profil masyarakat di sebagian warga ini tepat untuk mendapatkan tambahan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang berguna untuk peningkatan kualitas hidup. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dibagi menjadi 2 hari, hari pertama berupa pemaparan materi dan hari kedua berupa pelatihan pembuatan obat kumur. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu formula obat kumur yang sesuai dengan evaluasi rasa, warna, dan bau dari orientasi formula. Formula yang terpilih yaitu menggunakan daun sirih dan daun mint (1:1). Dari pelatihan ini diharapkan anggota Aisyiyah Cabang Perumnas I sebagai stake holder dapat menyebarkan informasi resep pembuatan obat kumur yang sederhana dan harga terjangkau kepada anggota masyarakat lainnya. Abstract

In 2018 only 35.8% of schools in Indonesia had implemented PHBS, and in 2019 only 22.5% of schools in Aceh had implemented Clean and Healthy Behaviors. This study aims to compare the implementation of PHBS in santri of modern pesantren with traditional Islamic boarding schools in Aceh. This study uses a quantitative method with a comparative study and a total sampling method with 368 students. The data collection tool used was the standard PHBS questionnaire—data analysis using Mann Whitney test and multiple linear regression. The results of this study indicate that there are differences in knowledge (p-value = 0.613), attitudes (p-value = 0.377), PHBS (p-value = 0.094), basic sanitation, have received counseling when to get counseling. There is a difference in action (p-value = 0.000) for santri of modern pesantren with traditional pesantren in Aceh. Knowledge, attitudes, and actions affect PHBS behavior, which means that there is no most dominant factor affecting the PHBS of santri in modern and traditional Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

The negative effect of consuming unhealthy snacks is foodborne illness caused by food and drinks that have been contaminated with germs. This problems need a serius intervention especially education for the school children to develop understanding of the importance of healthy, safe and nutritious snacks. It was reported that 73% of elementary school students have low knowledge and 81% have low attitude towards healthy snacks. Amongst efforts to educate children on healthy snacks is the audio-visual media. This study is conducted to investigate the effectiveness of animated video and power point as learning media towards the perception of healthy snacks on elementary school students in Indonesia. The design is quasi experiment with control group, with the sample of grade 5s' elementary school students. Data were collected using questionnaires developed from health belief model and intervention is given in the form of health education using animated video media. The results show that there are perception differences in susceptibility (P=0.0001), seriousness (P=0.0001), benefits (P=0.0001), and obstacles (P=0.0001) related to healthy snacks before and after education with animated video. Based on that, it is expected to the schools and parents to give attention to the quality of the snacks by educating and providing the children with healthy snack options.
