Abstract

The scheduling has an important role as a form of decision making. Mechanical Engineering Laboratory of University of Riau is a place to conduct some educational activities such as courses practice, experimental of laboratory, scientific research, teaching practice etc. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt the management information system for scheduling of laboratory equipments. This research aim is to design and develop a system to manage scheduling of data equipments in Mechanical Engineering Laboratory of University of Riau. The laboratory equipments scheduling system in Mechanical Engineering, University of Riau has grooves to come job as dynamic scheduling, which uncertain process the arrival of data equipments, either the number or its arrival. Method in this research used the dynamic scheduling of First Come First Served (FCFS) to determine the priority for decision making. Subsequence, this method was execution of sequence order based on the fastest time of arrival of orders. Developing of an application program used MySQL as database and PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) as a programming language. Based on the results of testing of the application software were obtained an optimal performance for the management system of scheduling equipments in Mechanical Engineering Laboratory, University of Riau. In conclusion, the new system provided a faster, efficient and accurate of equipments data management in the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory, University of Riau.Keywords: Laboratory Equipment, Dynamic Scheduling, First Come First Served (FCFS), PHP, Database.

Abstract

Mie Aceh Alya is a small-scale house hold industry engaged in culinary making wet noodles. Process of making Aceh Alya’s noodles includes preparation of raw materials, mixing dough, printing and cutting, boiling, and cooling and packaging. To meet the demand of the product is often in overtime and delay of product delivery. The objectives of the research is to identification of waste occurring in the production process, to analyze the cause of the waste and to recommend the improvement on the production process, and to evaluate the quality of the product so that the productivity improvement can be achieved. The reseach conducted a case study in small scale industry i.e. Mie Aceh Alya. The research method used lean manufacturing system approach and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) method. Based on the calculation of the initial stage of the design can reduce lead time on the current production floor from 548,12 minutes to 438,95 minutes, so the company can produce more quickly and the delay of product delivery can be eliminated or reduced. Result of entification using WRM method was obtainad three biggest wastes that was defect of 14.86%, motion 14.61%, and prosess of 14.61%. The selection of detail mapping tools with Value Stream Analysis Tools (VALSAT) method was obtained the greatest value of PAM. From Process Activity Mapping (PAM) analysis obtained the was value added equal to 322,48 minutes or 58.83% from total time and 41.17% for non value added based improvement recommendation can decrease lead time at production floor of 1,82 hours.Keywords: Lean manufacturing system, VSM, Waste

Abstract

Tool path generation is very important to optimal time and cost of the production process of product. This research purpose is to analyze tool path generation and production cost of disc brake for roughing and finishing work on die casting product. This research was used the Taguchi method and simulation using by Software Mastercam 2020 (CNC Milling). The simulation result was obtained the estimates time for each variable that was tested. Then it can be analyzed the cost of production to obtaining the efficient tool path in the manufacturing of disc brake. This research was resulted a dynamic tool path in facing with face mill’s tool for roughing process with a spindle speed of 2,825 rpm, the feed rate of 2,373 mm/minute, and depth of cut of 0.18 mm. The contour for roughing process with a spindle speed was 10,743 rpm, the feed rate of 4,673 mm/minute, and depth of cut 0.8 mm. Then the finishing process for facing with end mills’s tool produces a dynamic toolpath with a spindle speed of 11,937 rpm, the feed rate of 8,595 mm/minute, and depth of cut of 0.05 mm. The finishing process for drilling produces a chip break toolpath with a spindle speed was 6,565 rpm and feed rate of 788 mm/minute. Finally the contour for finishing process with a spindle speed was 11,937 rpm, feed rate of 8,595 mm/minute, and depth of cut of 0.25 mm. Therefore, the final simulation was produced 7.2975 minutes for time of production, so the total of production cost was Rp 74,056/product. Abstract

Turn-milling is a machining method with a system that combines turning and milling operations, which the work-piece and the cutting tool perform a rotating movement simultaneously. The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze the surface roughness of the orthogonal cutting process in turn-milling machining. The rotary milling test was performed the orthogonal method and produces a final surface roughness that varies with tests carried out for the work-piece speeds and the feed speeds. The resulting surface quality was also influenced by the parameters of the machining process in the form of work-piece loadings and feed rates. This study revealed the higher rotation of the work-piece, the higher the value of the surface roughness. Based on the roughness class, the rotational parameters of the work-piece for 350 rpm with a feed speed of 0.051 mm that was good parameters in this study, which resulting the lowest surface roughness average value of 2.439 μm.Keyword : Turn-milling, orthogonal turn-milling, rotation, feed, roughness.

Abstract

Information technology has been rapidly developed in term of implementations, nowadays. It can be applied to various fields such as the inventory management systems of laboratory. Currently, the laboratory management system in the Mechanical Engineering of University of Riau has used a conventional management system, yet. Therefore, the management of inventory equipments might be not optimize due to still using manual process. The purposes of this research are to design, develop and test of inventory management system based computerize for laboratory equipments in the Mechanical Engineering of University of Riau. The research method was divided into two stages: (1) analyzing of current laboratory conditions by using of visual control/ management and Kanban system and (2) to design, develop and test an information system of inventory management for laboratory’s equipments. A system of application program was created using PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) as programming language and MySQL as the database. The stages of system design were to develop a database table of subsystem, subsystem models, the dialogues subsystem and display interface system (users interface), and the menus structure. The inventory management based information system that can minimize human error, know exactly the amount of goods and material, be quickly and facilitate a recapitulation and reports, facilitate monitoring and inspection. As a result, the performance of management of inventory/ supplies laboratory equipments in Mechanical Engineering, University of Riau was more optimal, effective and efficient.Keywords: Information System, Laboratory Management, Inventory, MySQL, PHP, Kanban.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), as a case study of giboult joint product line in CV. Sispra Jaya Logam Pekanbaru. The TPM approach is used Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) as a metric for defining machine/equipment effectiveness. In the research method is to collect OEE data and calculate the OEE value per giboult joint work cycle. Then analysis of six big losses, statistical analysis using SPSS 20 and proposed improvements using the 5S method. Production data of giboult joint product line was collected for the period of June 2017. From OEE value calculation analysis found that the value of OEE on giboult joint product line was still below world class (85%). From the analysis of six big losses and statistical tests it was known that the most significant effect on the low value of OEE on the giboult joint product line for the breakdown losses and reduced speed losses. The high reduced speed losses was caused by slow production process. And the high breakdown losses was caused by the lack of effectiveness of the work of the machine and operator. Proposed improvement using the 5S method to increase productivity and production quality in the company.Keywords : TPM, Method 5S, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Six Big Losses, SPSS 20.

Abstract

CNC is a machining process using a computer program, which one of its function that can arrange toolpath used in NC Code. This study aim is to obtain an optimal toolpath on CNC lathe machining process for making a dead centre. The design of toolpath and simulation to know the time of the process of making dead centre use a software mastercam v9. This research method is done on the rough process of making the geometry shape of the workpiece using 3 schemes of the toolpath. longitudinal, surface to parallel and diametrical . The toolpath consists of two absolute and incremental reference methods. This research revealed the processing time of the scheme for the longitudinal absolute of 22 minutes 43 seconds, the surface to parallel scheme of 22 minutes 45 seconds and the diametrical scheme of 33 minutes 41 seconds. In the incremental scheme the timing process of the longitudinal scheme was 21 minutes 36 seconds, the surface to parallel scheme of 22 minutes 4 seconds and the diametrical scheme of 31 minutes 45 seconds. The fastest time in 3 schemes to making the dead centre was the longitudinal sceme, which used incremental method. the most economical cost for making the dead center using longitudinal incremental . Abstract

According to the observation the majority of people who dump garbage alongside the road, they throw it away from the vehicle. In this research designed a waste bin that can facilitate people who use vehicles to dispose of waste without having to get off the vehicle. In this research employed the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method and the selection of alternatif designs using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), Based on the results of open questionnaires, there were six voice of customer, which become parameters in litter catcher design that was easy to be emptied, according to standard, plastic trash writing on trash bin body, material of metal, box shape and easy to clean. Priority technical characteristics based on importance level were design with value of 27.72, finishing with value of 25.74 and construction with value of 23.76. The optimal design was chosen the alternatif design number 2 with a weight of 0.672 and CR 0.05 where the pairwise ratio that was expressed consistent.Keywords: Litter Catcher, Quality Function Deployment, Analytical Hierarchy Process

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the production process in press station using the method of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and oil losses analysis in PTPN V Sei Garo. The OEE is a method to measure avaibility, performance, and quality of a machine. Furthermore, this research conducted the Kaizen method (continues improvement) to analyses the activities that have no value added and activities need to be improved during the production process. The result showed the OEE value of four screw press machines below the world class standard of OEE (85%). The low value of OEE was due to the availability of raw materials, so the machine was more stands by for raw materials to be processed. Oil losses of screw press machines during the monthly average of 4.67% in March, 4.74% in April, 5.645% in May, 5.86% in June, 5.744 in July and 5.26% in August. This value was still accepted by the company standard (maximum of 7%). To increase the value of OEE and decrease the value of oil losses on screw press machines should be applied Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Kaizen (Continues Improvement).Keywords: OEE, Six Big Losses, Oil Losses, Kaizen, Screw Press

Abstract

The multi-function of clamping stick serves to pick up items, to replace light bulbs, to catch snakes, to reach objects in the cupboard that are not reachable to the hands and so on. Its multi-purpose can reduce the process of bending and standing and when pick up objects and collecting waste becomes hygienic. In this research the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) was chosen as a method to determine the optimal design a multi-function clamping stick which based on the questionnaire given to the expert, to choose the best decision alternative. The initial questionnaire was made to prioritize consumer needs, that used for the initial design. The consumer needs's questionnaire was made on several aspects, namely: flexibility, design, material, safety, usebility, function, dimensions and aesthetics. The next step was the selection of optimal designs using Fuzzy AHP, which involves Experts based on product quality indicators i.e. functional, performance, ergonomic, durability, serviceability and esthetical. The highest indicator value was obtained for Waste Clamping stick of "functional" with a value of 0.369 and optimal design choices for "alternative 1". The Light Bulb Clamping stick was obtained the highest indicator of "functional" with a value of 0.369 and the optimal design choice of "alternative 1". The Snake Clamping stick was obtained the highest indicator of "functional" with a value of 0.370 and the optimal design choice of "alternative 2".Keyword: Clamping Stick Design, Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process(FAHP)
